Easter Playdate

Lindsay hosted a fun playdate for the babies on the Wednesday before Easter. It included an Easter egg hunt for the babies, delicious snacks for the adults, plus Avery's first craft! The babies had lots of fun although they didn't quite grasp the concept of the Easter egg hunts. Maybe next year :).

The goodies- Mmm!

Luke strategizing

We're ready!

Got two!

What now Mom?

Garrett loved his Easter basket so much that he never let it go! So sweet!

Luke was the only one that could walk to pick out his eggs. So mature!

Had to stop to check out a plane

We were outside for all of 5 minutes but Avery looked like she had just run a marathon. I promise that she didn't get fried in the sun- just a little warm. Nothing that a little juice can't fix!

You okay, Ave?

She brought in a souvenir

The fun craft Linds planned- We put their fingerprints on a piece of paper and made little chicks out of them. They turned out so cute and will definitely go in her baby book!

What a fun day for the babies! Thanks Linds!

10 Months

Another month down, two more to go before Ave's 1st b-day! Time continues to fly by but I'm trying to appreciate each day with her. A couple weeks ago, there was a sermon at church on letting your children go once they grow up. I couldn't help but get teary eyed thinking about that day (even though I have a LONG way to go and more children to come!). I can't imagine my little baby girl being independent and on her own! I know the day will come sooner than I think so I will just cherish each moment that I have now!

Eating- Ave has definitely become more independent when it comes to eating. She loves finger foods now. Some new foods this month were waffles, toast, real chicken and turkey (not pureed), and yogurt. I have been giving her a little bit of our food lately which has made life so much easier. I don't have to worry about packing tons of baby food for her anymore. She loves fruit- diced peaches, pears, and bananas especially. I have also started the gradual weaning process. I dropped her afternoon feeding and supplement with a bottle of formula. I now nurse her in the morning, at noon, and at night. I need her to be completely weaned by the end of May because we go on vacation in June! Woohoo!

Sleeping- She is still taking 2 naps a day. Some days she fights the nap big time while other times she will just go right to sleep. We had some issues with naps due to a little cold this month. For about a week, Ave would not sleep longer than 30 minutes which makes for a long day. If I wanted her to sleep longer, I had to let her sleep on my chest. She was just too congested so sleeping more upright helped a lot.
-She still wakes up to eat around 5:30 or 6- I'm wondering when this will end but it really doesn't bother me that much to get up.
-Last month, we nailed the video monitor on the wall so she wouldn't be able to reach it. Well, she outsmarted us and somehow managed to reach the cord and play with that. It finally has a permanent home on shelf near the crib. Crazy child!

New developments-
-Ave has started to talk a lot! Every day, I put the pups into their kennel when we leave to go somewhere. I always say, "Good girls!" when they go in. She has started to copy this. I'm pretty sure that she thinks that this is their names because she will say it when she sees them too. She has started saying mama to me and dada to Bill now too. It is so sweet to hear that.
-I know I've said this before but she is OBSESSED with dogs. She will squeal when they come near. They are a great babysitter. I just put them outside and stand her at the door to watch them if I need to change or do something quickly in my room.
-She is much sturdier on her feet now too. She doesn't fall near as often as she used to.
-She is drawn to lights. She will make a beeline for her nightlight and pulls off the cover all the time. She also loves when I turn on the lamp on her nightstand. I will try to read her a book in the chair before bedtime but all she wants to do is launch her body as close to the lamp as possible.

Notice the cover is already off of the nightlight

Here are some pictures from this month...

Playing outside- we love warm weather!

Hooks Airport is the greatest!

How did my child get so old so quickly?

We are so in love with our little girl and feel so blessed to be her parents. She adds so much laughter and fulfillment to our lives. We can't imagine life without her!

Ave's Doll

When I was younger, I was really into the American Girl dolls and got the Samantha doll because she looked most like me :). Well, obviously I got older and no longer wanted it so I gave it to Laura, my sister-in-law. Now she is too old for it, so Wendy brought it by for Avery to have. Ave immediately tried to poke her eyes out, chew on her fingers, grab her pin, etc. It is funny how not girly my child is. Here are some pictures...

What the heck am I supposed to do with this?

The ferocious bite to the fingers (can you tell that she's teething?)

She's over it- ignore the leftover squash from dinner on her face!

Samantha is now put away in Ave's closet. Maybe we'll give it another try in a few more years!
