Mother's Day!

We went to the Aquarium for Mother's Day last year and had such a great time that we decided to make it a  tradition.  My ideal Mother's Day is spending time with my family somewhere other than our house.  The Aquarium is also not crowded at all on that day so it's a great time to go.

After church on Sunday, we ran home to change and then headed down there.  Avery LOVES books about animals and fish so I thought she would have a blast.  This picture pretty much sums up how much she loved the aquarium part...

She was so SCARED!  I have no clue why.  She literally clung to us as we looked at fish.  Occasionally she would shudder like we were in a haunted house putting her through torture.  I guess, in her defense, it is a little dark with random rainforest noises but I'm pretty sure every other child in there was having a blast.  We kept at it hoping that she would loosen up.

She looks so happy, right?

Somehow whatever little tiny thing that was in this tank even scared her!

We finally found a winner!  Once we got into the petting the stingrays room, she saw this little guy and decided not to be afraid.  She is SO brave.
At the end of the aquarium is the White Tiger exhibit which I just knew she would hate since they are so big. Well, of course, I was wrong yet again.  She loved them!  She could not get enough of these huge tigers.  I was actually a little creeped out by the male that kept pacing right around us, looking directly into our eyes.  He for sure would have killed us in an instant if the glass was not between us.  Instead of being scared, she kept saying, "hi kitty!" and "how cute!"  I was just glad that we had finally found something there that made her happy :).

After the tigers, she finally started loosening up. We went on the ferris wheel next.  She was a little scared at first but had a great time towards the end.

Avery heard the train go by while we were on the ferris wheel and decided that we needed to do that next.  She was pumped!

Well, pumped until we got into the shark tank area...

After the train, we tried out the merry go round.  We sat in the chair because I just wouldn't have been able to stand her being scared yet again!

She had such a great time and loved waving at Daddy every time we went around.

She decided that she wanted to try out the seal next.  She clung to me big time but when we got off, she kept saying, "ride seal again!"

Since we got the all day pass, we zipped through the aquarium one more time to hang out with the tigers again.  I can't express just how much she loved them.

And Ave took one more ride on the seal and loved every minute of it!

Despite her toddler fears, we had a really fun time at the aquarium, ate lunch on the way home, and enjoyed a long nap once we got home.  There really is no greater job than being a mom.  I love it so much and am so thankful that my job entails hanging out with my girl every day!

Kelly's Shower Day

Last Saturday, Stephanie and I hosted a kitchen shower for Kelly.  The wedding festivities have officially arrived which means the wedding is around the corner!

Here are some shots of the decor-

Pinterest has proven to be very helpful lately.  We got this idea for a table centerpiece/present for Kel.

It's fun to watch Kel open presents because she might be the most animated opener ever.  Ash got some great action shots with my camera while I wrote down what presents she got.

Let the presents begin!

Ave was more than willing to assist with handing Kelly the presents.

I love the look on her face!

Sisters!

The shower went really well.  I think everyone had a good time, and Kelly got a ton of stuff for her future house.  Oh, how I miss showers.  Going home with boatloads of presents was just the most amazing thing ever!  I'll just have to live vicariously through Kel!  I still can't believe the wedding is only 2 months away. It is going to be here so soon!

After the shower, we decided to celebrate Mother's Day with my Mom since everyone was already in town.  The guys went golfing so we decided to snap a few cousin shots before they got home.

Ave does lots of crawling when Sophie is around.

Could Sophia look any sweeter?

Checking out the loot.
That's where the pictures stopped for the night.  The plan was to grill burgers; however, the propane ran out halfway through cooking them.  Bill ran to Lowes which is less than 5 minutes from our house but there was an awful wreck that caused the trip to take more like 30 minutes.  Then the new propane tank didn't work so Bill cooked up the burgers McDonalds style on our griddle.  They actually tasted really good despite all the chaos!

We had a great time spending time with family and celebrating my mom.  I think you cannot really appreciate your mom fully until you have a child of your own.  I am so thankful for my mom and blessed to have a great relationship with her!  Love you Ma!

Sophia's Dedication

Last Sunday, we attended Sophia's Dedication at church.  They go to Second Baptist which is huge!  There were lots of babies dedicated, and I don't think a single one cried the whole time.  It was amazing.

We left right after the dedication part and took some pictures before heading to Scott and Steph's house for lunch.

Sophia's Godparents

Sophia likes all things blingy.

She loved the beads on Kel's shirt just as much as my necklace!

Cheesing with Aunt Kelly

The lunch spread... Ave was requesting cupcakes as soon as we arrived.

After lunch, we celebrated Kelly's 23rd birthday.  Steph got a special little cake for Kel.  It was quite tasty!

Sophia is so blessed to have Scott and Stephanie as her parents.  I have no doubt that they will do everything in their power to raise her to know and love Christ so that one day she will make the decision on her own.  We can't wait to see what God has in store for her!
