In July, we went on a little family trip to Galveston. It turned out to be one of my favorite getaways with our family!
We left during Chloe's naptime so she slept the majority of the way there. Once we arrived, we checked out our condo. The girls LOVED their room with two twin beds. We put a pack and play in there but I have dreams of what it's going to be like to have them both sleep in beds in the same room. They will love it!
We celebrated our first night there by going to Rainforest Cafe. I remember Avery being a little leery of the animals when she was younger but Chloe was in awe. There was no fear there!
We kept seeing people get the chocolate volcano desserts so we had to try it out. Avery's face here is priceless.
They have a ride attached to the restaurant that turned out to be really fun. Avery got a little scared and made us realize that Disney World probably doesn't need to happen for a couple of more years!
The next morning the girls were up bright and early so we took advantage of a pretty sunrise on the patio.
Then we hit the beach!
Chloe took a midmorning nap since she was up SO early. After that we went to lunch and tried out the ferry.
 |
| Avery was not a fan of the stinky bathroom. |
Bill has very fond memories of going on the ferry as a child. Since the afternoons are hot, we decided to beat the heat by trying this out. Little did we know that tons of other people had the same idea.
 |
| This is after waiting for, well, a while. |
Once we got on, all frustrations from the wait were gone. It was so much fun and the girls really enjoyed it. We saw dolphins and pelicans on the ride. Fun memories!
Before heading home the next day, we went to Moody Gardens. They were having a dinosaur exhibit outside.
 |
| Avery wasn't really sure at first. The dinosaurs moved and this scared her a bit but she warmed up to them. |
We went through the aquarium, got some lunch, and headed home. It was one of my favorite trips that we've taken. Since the girls are getting older, they are easier and so much more fun to travel with! I look forward to many more family vacations in our future!
