Colin is 18 months old!

I have done the worst job of keeping up with milestones for Colin but he is turning 18 months old in a week and I want to capture everything that he is doing right now!

Clothes/Diapers- 24 month pants (these are a major challenge since his thighs are so chunky!), 18-24 mo or 2t tops.  Shoes- size 7, diapers- size 5 daytime, 6 nighttime

Words- SO many!  He is saying more and more.  Some of my favorites are
Chloe- Toto
Avery- sounds like Aubrey (Yuv you Aubrey= melt my heart)
Whenever I have had to put eye drops in his eyes, instead of crying he just says "All done, Mommy, all done."
snack- nack
"Daddy, wook!"
When we sing Old McDonald had a Farm, we will say to him, "and on his farm he had a ..." and Colin will always say Dada and laugh.
Can count from 1 to 6 or 7
Sings Happy Birthday when he sees any sweet, muffin, or flame.

Some of my latest favorites-
He will turn to me and say "Oh hi, Mama!" so happily like he hasn't seen me in ages
He was bending down waving at something today and i looked down to see a squished bee.  He loves insects :)
He loves his blankie so much.  It is a comfort to him.

Separation anxiety- For the first 15 months of his life, Colin would go to anyone anywhere.  When we moved here, honestly I thought he would be the easiest to transition.  Turns out that he has struggled the most.  I had him scheduled to go to school Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-2, Small group Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:15, Bible study on Wednesdays from 9:15-11:15, and church from 10:30-11:30.  At first he did fine, but as time went by he would cry more and more.  It kills me hear him yelling mama and crying as I leave.  I ended up dropping Bible study because that was one less strange place for him to be.  I started bringing his blanket with him which helped so much.  Avery went through small stages of this but nothing like Colin.  It breaks my heart and I so hope that this phase will not last long!

He loves balls, cars, his blanket, food, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Bubble Guppies, being outside, pushing his lawnmower,

Sleeping- Colin is still so irregular when it comes to sleep.  Some nights are great- asleep by around 8:15 and wakes around 7:15.  Other times he wakes 1-2 times during the night.  A couple of nights ago, I went into his room around 2am and he very excitedly said, "hi mama!" Clearly, he was just wanting to see me in the night so I had to get out the Ferber book to do a little sleep training.  Thankfully he was a very quick learner and slept great for several nights after.  We are still working out the kinks in his new room to get the temperature right so some nights he may be cold.  He is also getting his molars currently so I know that is contributing to some of his night wakings.

We love you Colin!  You are the sweetest!

Sickness

I'm writing this post mainly as a reminder of all the sicknesses we've had so that I can go back and count all the incidences.  This past summer was probably our most sick summer yet.  Chloe got a stomach bug that she passed to Avery right before her birthday party.  She also got strep towards the beginning of summer and Avery got strep right before we packed up our house.  Chloe got sick while we were on our trip in Mexico and continued as we moved to Midland.  We found out on day 3 here in Midland that she had strep.  Again.

Colin has sadly been struggling with congestion and a cough basically since being here and starting school.  He spiked a fever after we got back from our Fall trip to Houston and was sick with a cough that week.  Avery got a sinus infection that I finally took her to the doctor for and she ended up having strep on top of it.  SO. MUCH.SICKNESS especially for this germaphobe mom.

Our first month in Midland

We packed up and left for Midland on Monday, August 14.  We found our car in the parking garage after our trip with a flat tire.  This caused us to leave a little bit later - around 9 am.  We drove and drove until we arrived around 5pm.

Chloe, unfortunately, had been sick for about a week prior to us leaving and was still not feeling well.  By Wednesday morning, I decided to take her to the doctor (didn't take long to meet her!) and we found out that she had strep.  This was her second time during the summer.  Avery had it a few weeks before too.  So.much.sickness this summer!  Needless to say, that didn't start our move out on the best foot.  She was hurting and SO cranky but after about a week, everyone was feeling well and we were all adjusting.
