Last Day in China...

Today we spent our last day in China
enjoying the company of the other families in our travel group.
Micah had fun playing on the hotel playground
with some of the other kids.
His favorite was the swing!

Earlier in the day we took individual family pictures,
as well as one big group photo.

We will miss these families,
as we have grown to care about each one,
even in just the few short weeks we've shared together.
Although we all live in various places throughout the U.S.,
and may not see each other again,
we will always share the common bond
of building our families through adoption...
a beautiful picture of what our heavenly Father has done for us.

We leave bright and early in the morning to fly HOME!!!
We can't wait to see our families...
especially two sweet little boys.
Baby brother will be home soon. :)

U.S. Consulate appointment and Shamian Island...

Yesterday we had our appointment with the U.S. Consulate
to apply for Micah's visa.
He cannot enter the states without it.
If all goes well, we should have it in hand this afternoon
and fly out in the morning! Yay!!!
After our consulate appointment we spent some time
on Shamian Island
 with the Leong family.
It was cold and rainy, but we had a really nice time.

We made it to Guangzhou...

Micah took his first airplane ride on Saturday.
It was quite a flight, too,
with the worst turbulence Tim or I had ever experienced.
But he did great!
That evening, Jen got food poisoning
from a sandwich she'd eaten in the Zhengzhou airport.
She missed Micah's medical examination the next morning.
But he and Daddy enjoyed their morning out together.

Mr. Personality. :)

Such a little cutie...

Officially a little Zittle!

Tuesday was Registration Day with the Chinese government,
the day that Micah officially became a little Zittle.

What a little trooper...

Our ride to the orphanage yesterday was 2 1/2 hrs.
Micah endured 5 hrs. in the car and didn't have any meltdowns.
We hope this means good news
for our 13 hr. flight home next Wednesday. :)

Our trip to Luohe City, home of Micah's orphanage.

Louhe was a two hour drive from Zhengzhou,
the capital city of Henan province, where we are staying.
It is considered a small city in China...2 million people...just tiny. :)
The entrance to the orphanage, housing 150 children.
Two of the orphanage directors.
They hosted a really nice lunch for us after our tour.
Front doors...
Micah's room...his nannies were extremely excited
to see him!
 His bed...
It was heartbreaking to see these little ones
who do not yet have families,
but also a blessing to love on them,
even for just a few special moments.
I grew especially attached to this little girl
(in the picture above, and in the next two pictures,)
and would have brought her home in a heartbeat
if we could have.
These were Micah's two day-time nannies.
There were ten cribs in this little room.
All but three of the children were lying down in their cribs.
I asked if it was nap-time...the answer was no.
The nannies explained that most of them were in their cribs
because they have medical and mental handicaps,
and cannot sit, stand, or move about on their own.
Micah and only one other child in his room
were considered healthy.
This little boy below melted my heart, also.
He was just precious.
You can see he has no hands
and the nanny said he has no lower limbs, either.
This man is the medical director of the orphanage.
He seemed very caring toward the children
and came to say goodbye to Micah.
We really enjoyed our tour guide, Eddie.
