Baby-proof?
I think it's time to baby-proof! Abby has been having lots of fun finding her way into everything. Based on her cheek-to-cheek smile, the fun has only just begun!

10 months!!
This month's favorites:
Activities: cruising around the living room table. You get around quickly and you're starting to get really brave...letting go of the table to stand on your own, but not having the balance quite yet has led to some faceplants. You also love scooting around and semi-crawling to get into everything. You love to pull all of the dvds out of the cabinet and rip apart all magazines within your reach. And of course, you love talking on the cell phone. I can't forget to mention dancing! For a such a little girl, you sure know how to rock to the beat!
Foods: cream cheese bread and tomatoes
Sounds: Dada, Baba, VA, Ffff, Mmmm, Sssasssa
Books: Abby's First Book of Shapes, Goofy Baby, Goodnight Moon, Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?...just to name a few. But really you love any and every book you can find. You love to sit and turn the pages all by yourself. I love turning around to see you carefully studying the pictures on the page.
Toys: your cell phone, your keyboard and your books...oh yeah...and everything you shouldn't touch!
We love you baby girl!

Scary Things
Recently, we have noticed that Abby has some specific fears. At first, we noticed her apprehension around things that you might think a baby would be afraid of...like a vacuum, but lately we've seen her get nervous about things that are completely random. It's kind of funny (and pretty stinkin' adorable).
The Dustbuster/Vacuum- As soon as the vacuum (large or mini size) turns on, Abby starts shaking unless she is in someone's arms. You should see me trying to vacuum the whole house when Joe isn't home...what a workout! The vacuum doesn't even have to be on. If it's standing nearby, Abby yells until I put it away.

My Hairbrush- When I'm brushing my hair, Abby laughs and plays. If I put my brush down anywhere near her, she pulls her arms away quickly and whimpers until I move it out of her sight. She won't touch it at all no matter how safe I try to tell her it is.

Last and most hilarious...
My Cody statue - Cody has been my dog since childhood. My non-human baby. When I went away to college, my brother, who was 11 at the time, gave me a little statue of Cody to remind me of home. So sweet. When Abby was born, I put it on the shelf in her room. The other day I took it down to let her hold it. She stared at it for a long time and then reached her pointer finger out touched it quickly and pulled her hand away. We continued this game for about 5 minutes and then she started whimpering again. (I think he'll grow on her! She seemed the most intrigued by him.)

A rose from Daddy
I came home from campus the other day to find a sweet surprise. Joe had taken Abby to the store and they bought me flowers. I love flowers...all kinds and in every season. They make me smile! I love my husband. He knows how to sweeten up my day!
That husband is also a sweet and thoughtful Daddy! He got Abby a single yellow rose to sweeten up her day.

Melt my heart...
Yesterday, I was convinced that Abby learned how to smile in a new heart-melting way. We were out running errands and she kept shooting me this teeth together smile with her little dimples that literally made me have to stop the shopping cart and give her lots of hugs and kisses....multiple times throughout the trip. It was hard for me to explain with words, BUT this afternoon when I turned on the camera to capture a few moments of playtime, she shot me one of those "Look at what I did Mom!" smiles at the end! MELT MY HEART!
Dance Dance
I only caught a little bit on video, but our little dancer has been dancing up a storm! (and loving every minute of it!)

Update: Morning Zzzzzz
Abby took her nap this morning! She's so happy and rested. Maybe it was the time change after all? Only time will tell!

Just in case...
....you've never seen Abby's sassy side. The other night she wasn't really in the mood to be fed. Most mealtimes, Abby is happy with us feeding her food, as long as she has food to feed herself too. Last night, she just wasn't interested....and decided to throw it everywhere!
Check out her hair!

Ohhhh my sweet little love.

Random Thoughts
Yesterday, I made Abby her very first caprese salad for lunch. I cut up some mozzerella string cheese, tomato and basil. Then, I let it marinate together in some olive oil and just a bit of garlic until lunch. She LOVED it and couldn't get it in her mouth fast enough. Did I ever tell you how much I love introducing her to new foods? It makes me smile to see her picking the pieces off of her tray with a huge grin on her face and a piece of basil hanging from her lips.
Whenever the TV is on and this commercial comes on, Abby stops whatever she is doing to watch it. She doesn't even have to see the screen, when she hears it...she turns. She loves it! Then when it's over, she goes right back to what she was doing before.
Morning Zzzzzz
Today marks day 5 of no morning nap. I haven't given up quite yet, but for the last five days Abby has resisted her morning nap. She was a little cranky for the rest of the morning until lunch and naptime, but not as much as I thought she'd be.
Day 1: I thought she was being stubborn and and just acting a little out of the ordinary, so I let her talk and whine in her crib for about an hour before going in to get her.
Day 2: I blamed it on the time change.
Day 3: It became evident that she was not crying out much at all, but talking to her Superbear. She only started to whine when our little extrovert got lonely.
Day 4: DA DA DA BA BA VA.
Day 5: I gave up after 35 minutes and we went to run some errands. It was my test to see how she would act in public without her nap. If you're wondering...she was her friendly and curious self talking to everyone who walked by and reaching for everything in the shopping cart.
SO....it leaves me wondering, is Abby giving up her morning nap already?

Meow
The month of October was filled with family visits. Almost every weekend, we got to spend time with someone from our family. So, we finished the month the same way we started it...with more family. Nagymama (a.k.a. Mama) came to visit from Florida!
On Friday, we had a nice dinner with my Dad, Cory and Mama. No pictures, but lots of laughs. Abby started out dinner kind of shy, but in a matter of minutes she was hamming it up from her end of the table. She would stare at my dad until he looked at her and then shoot him the biggest smile. It was their game for the rest of the night.
Mama stayed with us for four days and Cory came back up for the last two. We went shopping, watched movies, cooked some delicious Hungarian meals, made Abby homemade chicken soup. We played board games and the Wii, went out to dinner, danced around the living room late at night and laughed until our ribs hurt.
I miss them already!
Mama brought Abby her first cell phone. It's now one of her favorite toys. Joe took her into her room to get her ready for the bath (cell phone in hand) and then I heard her start screaming like she fell off the changing table and hit her head. I ran in her room only to find out that she was just REALLY mad that her daddy took her cell phone away.
getting bundled up. Mama's not used to this cold weather...she did not bring the sunshine with her this weekend.

My Dad brought Abby three of my old stuffed animals that he saved and washed. This bear was in my crib when I was brought home from the hospital. It was so special to see it passed down to Abby. Do that math....He's 25 years old. He's in a bunch of my baby pics, so when I get my scanner to work...

Abby showing Uncle Cory what she wants for Christmas from the Kmart toy catalog...which really means she was just excited to take a catalog, crinkle it and rip it apart.
late night of Pictionary Man. Always a guaranteed good time with this bunch. (followed by Mama dancing around the living room to Jay-Z!)
Thanks for visiting! I love you and can't wait to see you all again soon. ~ Love, Abby
