DC Fireworks

Hello, friends and crafters! The Daring Cardmakers have a new challenge for you.

Jenny is so happy to be setting the challenge for the first time ever this week!

She picked the topic FIREWORKS!

In the UK Guy Fawkes day or Bonfire Night is just around the corner on November 5th. They celebrate the day with fireworks.

In Germany we have fireworks at New Year’s Eve. So I made a New Year’s card.

I bought a New Year stamp set a few years ago and I’m still very happy about it.

For the fireworks I used my metallic water colours and I love the shimmery look.

(sorry for the bad pictures ... I have to be more patient with the weather now and wait for more sunshine)

DC Spooktacular makes

Hello crafters! It’s Friday and the Daring Cardmakers have a new challenge for you.

Rizwana wants to see your spooktacular makes this week.

Spooktacular makes!

Show us your spooky cards or any spooky makes for Halloween. You can have scary pumpkins, ghosts, witches, bats, spiders, skeletons........... the more spooky things the better.

Halloween is just around the corner … and I will ignore it as every year 😊. But I kept three spooky chipboard die cuts during my last decluttering session.

I used two of the die cuts on my card and the matching bookmark. (So there might be one more Halloween card next year with the last die cut)

For the first time ever I used a word die with seld-adhesive glitter paper and I love it. (I hate applying glue on intricate die cuts … it always looks messy in the end!)

DC Dictionary Day

Happy Friday, crafters and friends! The Daring Cardmakers have a new challenge for you.

Joanne picked this week’s challenge:

Dictionary

Did you know October 16th is Dictionary Day?! I need very little excuse to

celebrate words - celebrate with me by using a dictionary page, a dictionary

definition or making words the focal point of your card.

I remembered my dictionary background stamp that I purchased ages ago. During my last decluttering session I thought about getting rid of it… but I was one of my first background stamps and cost a fortune (at a time when I didn’t earn a lot 😉). And now I’m glad that I kept it.

I used white heat embossing powder and coloured the paper with distress oxide inks. Then I added white dots for a bokeh technique. My white stamp pad wasn’t opaque enough so I used acrylic paint as well.

I liked the „mixed media“ feel to it and added some more die cuts and paper scraps on top. The embossed sentiment looks great on black paper, I think.

Happy crafting!

DC Mail Art

 Hello, crafters!

The Daring Cardmakers have a new challenge for you.

Svenja picked this topic for us:

Also, just the right time of the year for making cards and writing letters. Aaaand October 9th is world post day - so let's see some

Mail Art this week!

Maybe you'll decorate a beautiful envelope or even create some faux postage?

I made my first Christmas card. It has a strange size. So I made a matching envelope with my envelope punch board.

I still use the envelope punch board app to get the measurements and the cards always fit perfectly.

I will give the card away with an advent calendar, so it’s important that the recipient won’t open it before December 1st.

DC October inspirational picture

Hello, crafty friends!

Wow … life is busy. But here is finally another handmade card + bookmark.

Dawn from the Daring Cardmakers picked a great inspirational picture with some of my favourite autumn things.

I love the sentiment „Let’s get cozy“ and tried to translate it into German. You can see my little sketch notes/idea collection here.

I wrote the sentiment with a black fineliner and an  embossing pen.

I drew the leaves and embossed them with white ink. I coloured them with distress inks and cut them out.

For the background a used the page of an old book and arranged my sentiment and the leaves on an orange circle.

The scraps found their new home on a matching bookmark.
