Sad To See You Go is the brand-new single from multi award-winning artist Becki Biggins, produced by Matt Butler (whose credits include Paul McCartney and Steve Harley). The track is an original song about parting, and about how you can choose to accept loss with dignity, while still feeling hurt. It’s about taking heartbreak like an adult. Featuring Becki and Thomas Tol on piano, Harry Sutton on bass, Luke Strong on guitar and Matt Butler on drums, Sad To See You Go builds on the momentum of Becki’s previous single, Emptiness Around You.

Emptiness Around You is the brand-new single from multi award-winning artist Becki Biggins, produced by Matt Butler (whose credits include Paul McCartney and Steve Harley). The track is an English translation of Leeg om je Heen, a much-loved song by Dutch superstar Jan Smit, who has enjoyed a hugely successful career as a singer, songwriter and television personality in the Netherlands and beyond.

Becki first met Jan when he generously bought her lunch during a trip to the Netherlands. As a thank you for his kindness, she set herself the challenge of translating one of his songs into English and recording it with her own voice and piano playing. The result is Emptiness Around You—a heartfelt interpretation that honours the original while offering a fresh perspective for new audiences.

With Becki’s distinctive vocals and Matt’s polished production, the single marks an exciting new chapter in Becki’s career.

It's a Man's World - CD

It's a Man's World is the outstanding new album by multi award-winning jazz singer and songwriter Becki Biggins.

It is a collection of songs written, inspired and made famous by men, including Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, Glenn Campbell and Elvis, performed by a woman comfortable enough in her own skin to celebrate them.

Becki's four original songs, detailing the life of a 40-something woman in the 21st Century, and described by London Jazz News as 'a definite highlight', have been championed by BBC Radio.

A mix of anthemic jazz-pop originals and gospel-tinged arrangements of classics, performed by an exceptional organ trio, 'It's a Man's World' is a must-listen.

It’s a Man’s World Liner Notes

THIS ALBUM WAS BORN from an idea I first remember having whilst being sat on the living room floor in my partner, Andy’s, old flat in Yate. It wasn’t a particularly nice flat, so this memory of it is one of the best. I decided that singing classic men’s songs in a jazz style was the way to go, and the project would be called It’s a Man’s World, after the Sarah Vaughan album of the same name.

It was an idea I revisited a few times over the next 10 years, but it wasn’t until an inauspicious duo gig with John-Paul Gard - who plays the blues like nobody I’ve ever heard before - that the fuse was really lit. A remarkably drunk Bristolian heckler became the catalyst for the project when he loudly slurred, ‘Play me some Elvis’ during a gig. Right then, as we busked I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You, It’s a Man’s World finally became more reality than dream. I recruited Andy Tween, JP recruited Ben Waghorn, and a few months later we were complete.

Following a successful summer of touring in 2019, we were due to record the album in April 2020, and then… Covid. Not to be put off, we decided we could record remotely, and Andy would be able to seamlessly mix it all together. So, over the summer of 2020, that’s exactly what happened; first JP recorded his parts, then Andy, then myself, then Ben, then Mike and finally Bryan.

So, here it is – an album of songs written, inspired and made famous by men, by a woman who feels comfortable enough in her own skin to celebrate them – recorded during lockdown and handed to you now that all that shit is finally over.

My thanks to JP, Andy and Ben, not only for your beautiful playing, but equally for your mystifying belief in this project and for your friendship, none of which will ever be taken for granted. To Mike, for your stunning guest appearance, and to Bryan for making FURIOUS as dirty as was intended, thank you. To Martin, Andy, Bob, Mano, Isabel, and Dan, for your skills, your inspiration and for saying yes.

Thanks to ‘my’ Andy for your continued love and support, despite having years ago come to the startling realisation that jazz singers are neither as cool nor as glamorous as you first thought (and certainly nowhere near as wealthy). And to my kids, Archie and Hunter, who have made all things possible. This one’s for you, my boys.

Becki

Becki Biggins is a multi-award-winning British singer, songwriter, and saxophonist whose music combines classic songwriting with heartfelt storytelling.

Her love of music began the moment she walked into a school band rehearsal and felt the sound “hit her in the chest.” By the age of 12, she was touring internationally, performing at Mardi Gras in New Orleans a year later, and completing 24 gigs in 21 days before she turned 17.

Becki went on to win the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Competition, the National Festival of Music for Youth Composition Award, and Marlborough Jazz Best International Newcomer. Her early success led to a collaboration with Paul Hardcastle — the legendary producer behind 19 — co-writing and performing on three albums that all reached #1 on the U.S. Smooth Jazz Charts,  each staying on the charts for over a year.  The first, Hardcastle 5, entered the Billboard Top 200 and earned Hardcastle the title of Billboard Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year.

Becki’s latest material, produced by Matt Butler (whose credits include Paul McCartney and Steve Harley), blends her influences — Carole King, Carly Simon, and Karen Carpenter — with honest tales of love, loss, and emotion. The result is timeless, lyrical songwriting that connects deeply with audiences and showcases her warmth, wit, and distinctive voice.

Today, Becki continues to write and perform songs that explore the quiet poetry of everyday life — the things we all feel but can’t always express. Whether at the piano or with a saxophone in hand, she’s driven by the power of storytelling through music.

When she’s not on stage, Becki lives in the Forest of Dean with her husband — a stuntman — and their two sons, Archie and Hunter. She loves sewing, making her own stage clothes, and balancing life as both a devoted mum and a passionate performer.
