Less than an hour of touching down into humid Singapore, my uncle brought us to an unforgettable modern Japanese fine dining experience of a lifetime. It was my cousin’s birthday yesterday, and let’s just say that I was fortunate enough to be at the right place at the right time. It was 6 course meals which includes starters, cold dish, side dish, soup, main dish and dessert! 6 course?? Seriously? By the third course I told my cousin I was really full and the main dish have not even arrived! Don’t be deceived by the looks of the of the portions, they are actually pretty filling.
Those of you who follow me on my Facebook, would have seen most of the pictures there already, I was updating my status as I was eating. To me, that was an experience of a lifetime. But these pictures of my blog should be better because I used a proper camera, while I was just using my iphone last night. And I also took some of the other dishes that my family members ordered. Sorry, I forgot to take one of the starters, I pretty much just dived into it. But we had scallops on asparagus with a miso soup foam. Sounds good huh? Wait till we get to the rest… Next up we have the cold dishes. I had the Smoked duck with a nice berry-flavoured jelly spread. While others had escargot (snail)!

Following that, we had our side dish. Don’t ask me what’s the difference between a cold and side dish! My guess is that a side dish can be served hot as well! For my side dish, I ordered soft shell crab on mash potato served with a super delicious sauce. My uncle’s maid insisted that our crabs were dancing ballet! My uncle on the other hand ordered beef, he insisted I had to take a picture of his dish because his is special with the Singapore flyer. The plating skills of this restaurant is absolutely fabulous.

Next up was a bowl of soup. I had a black truffle with mushroom soup. I had a “OMG” moment because I have only seen truffle on Masterchef, it’s really expensive! Some of us had some lobster with cappuccino soup. It did actually smell like coffee. They even served it in a cup.
We are getting there… for my main dish, I ordered beef served on a hot stone. So when my meat was served, it was medium rare and it was literally still cooking in front of me! So cool, so I could cook it to how ever I wanted it. Other main dishes were lamb shanks which was fantastic and a fish dish, I can’t remember what it is called.

Finally, we arrived to the yummilicious desserts! I had a chocolate lava cake, the kind where you cake into the cake and chocolate comes oozing out! And we had some nice cheesecakes too, it was super duper nicely plated. I would love to do something like that, but I realised that people won’t be very full from those small pieces.
We had really good service too. But I reckon because my uncle is quite a regular there, I mean we had a private room and designated waiters, who were really entertaining! They amused us with almost every dish and would kindly explain to us what exactly we are eating. Don’t ask me how the waiter did it, but he managed to convince my whole family, including my 60plus uncle to do a James bond pose for the picture.
Here are our waiters for the night in a picture of the birthday girl, who sang a birthday song for my cousin as well. They insisted I take a picture of them, so hilarious!
Overall experience at the restaurant was fantastic. The service was excellent, the food was fantastic and the ambience was perfect.
