Meet Sheena Agyare

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sheena Agyare. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sheena , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I didn’t discover my purpose in one single moment. It came through a series of events. It came through pain and lived experience. One of those experiences was losing both of my parents less than a year apart. It shifted everything for me. Grief has a way of stripping life down to what matters most, and for me it was a reminder that time is not promised.

In that season, I realized I was holding so much… trauma, grief, responsibility, all while being in survival mode… while still trying to show up for everyone else. And I saw that same weight in the people I was serving daily as a mental health professional. That’s when it clicked for me: my purpose wasn’t just to help people cope, it was to create spaces where we can breathe, heal, feel seen, and come back home to ourselves.

That loss and many experiences, though very painful, eventually gave me clarity. My purpose is to make sure that no one feels alone in their healing, and to show that self-love and emotional care are essentials in every season.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the founder of The SHeK Lifestyle, a trauma-informed wellness brand built on the belief that healing isn’t a luxury, it’s a lifestyle. My work sits at the intersection of self-love, emotional wellness, and community care. After more than a decade supporting people in mental health non-profits, domestic violence shelters, schools, and community spaces, I wanted to create tools that could meet people where they are.

What excites me most is that The SHeK Lifestyle speaks directly to Black women and minorities creating space for groups who are often left out of the wellness conversation. Through my book The Self-Love Plan, sound healing, and workshops, I’ve been able to create practices that are both practical and deeply personal.

Right now, my focus is on expanding into tech with The SHeK Space app, a healing resource designed to live in your pocket. The app will offer daily rituals, check-ins, and safe spaces to connect and heal. It’s about making wellness accessible, culturally relevant, and sustainable.

At the core, my brand is about reminding people they’re not alone. Healing is possible, it’s personal, and it belongs to all of us.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The 3 qualities that shaped my journey the most so far are resilience, empathy, and creativity. Of course, my resilience came from lived experiences. Loss taught me how to keep going and moving forward even in seasons of deep grief. That strength has carried me through many setbacks and reminded me that every challenge can also provide a lesson to learned.

Empathy came from my own work in mental health and my own healing. Being able to truly listen, to hold space for people, and to see them beyond their struggles has been the core of everything I have built and continue to build.

Last but definitely not the least, creativity is what turned all of my ideas into something tangible. Writing The Self-Love Plan, designing workshops, and now fully immersing myself into tech… all of it has required me to think beyond traditional pasts and trust myself and my vision.

For anyone early in their journey, my advice is this: Build your resilience by learning how to rest and recover, not just push through, be present with people and also with yourself, and nurture your creativity by giving yourself permission to try, to fail, and to start again. That’s where the real breakthroughs happen

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, absolutely. Collaboration is at the heart of how I work. With The SHeK Lifestyle and now my app, The SHeK Space, I’m looking to partner with people and organizations who believe in making healing accessible and culturally relevant. That includes wellness practitioners, therapists, educators, community organizations, and even tech partners who see the value in building tools that center real people and real healing.

I’m especially passionate about collaborating with folks who want to create safe spaces for Black women and minority groups, whether that’s through workshops, events, research, or digital tools.

If you’re reading this and want to connect, you can reach me directly through my website www.thesheklifestyle.org, by email at [email protected] or on Instagram, Facebook, and Tiktok at @thesheklifestyle. I love building with people who share the vision of healing as a lifestyle, not a trend.
