Families in Flower Mound are asking the Town to allow a trusted youth coach to continue mentoring children while a background review is completed.

Protect Our Kids’ Coach and Our Team

We, the parents, families, and community members of Flower Mound, along with many who know Coach Bananas personally and can attest to his character, respectfully ask the Town of Flower Mound to allow Coach Bananas to continue coaching youth baseball while a background review process is completed.

Coach Bananas has been a dedicated part of the Flower Mound youth sports community for five years and ten seasons, coaching hundreds of children and volunteering countless hours to support young athletes and their families. In addition to coaching, he has served as an Age Group Director and a member of the league’s Board of Directors, helping strengthen youth baseball in Flower Mound.

For many children in the league, Coach Bananas is more than just a coach. He is a mentor, role model, and positive influence who helps kids learn teamwork, resilience, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Many of the players he coaches today are children he has known for years. Some of these kids have been part of his teams since they were three years old, growing up with him as one of the steady and positive adults in their youth sports experience.

What Happened

Recently, Coach Bananas was informed that he was ineligible to coach following a background check determination.

Why a New Background Check Was Requested

After Coach Bananas announced his candidacy for Town Council, individuals contacted the Town of Flower Mound and shared allegations that were never proven and resulted in no conviction, no finding of guilt, and no finding of family violence in the official court record.

Because Coach Bananas had already successfully completed a full background check through USA Baseball in September 2025 with this same information on record, he had no hesitation in submitting to another background check when requested by the Town.

Coach Bananas has consistently maintained that he has nothing to hide and has fully cooperated with every review requested.

Importantly, the information contained in the September 2025 background check and the most recent background check is the same. No new charges, no convictions, or findings of family violence appear in the official court record.

However:

• The same background information had already been reviewed and approved by USA Baseball in September 2025, clearing him to coach youth athletes.

• After this issue was raised, USA Baseball reversed its entry and removed Coach Bananas’ name from the publicly accessible Ineligible List.

• USA Baseball has indicated that it will review and investigate why the September background check passed while the most recent check resulted in a different outcome despite the same information being present.

The official court record also reflects that:

• **There were no convictions.**  
• **There was no finding of guilt.**  
• **There are no findings of family violence.**

This decision affects our children immediately, including players who have already built relationships with their coach and teammates and who were looking forward to their season together.

Our Children Should Not Be Caught in the Middle

Youth sports should prioritize the well-being, stability, and development of the children involved.

Coach Bananas has coached multiple seasons since the events related to this matter first arose, with no incidents or concerns involving players or families. Parents across the league have trusted him with their children and have seen firsthand the positive impact he has made.

Instead, he has remained focused on:

• Protecting the privacy of those involved  
• Minimizing harm to families and children  
• Continuing to serve the community and the young athletes who look up to him

This restraint reflects the same character and responsibility that parents have seen in his coaching and mentorship of their children.

Our Request

We respectfully ask the Town of Flower Mound to allow Coach Bananas to continue coaching while the background review process is completed.

Allowing him to continue coaching during the review would:

• Maintain stability for the team  
• Protect the children’s experience this season  
• Allow the review process to proceed without unnecessarily disrupting youth sports

This request does not interfere with any review or investigation. It simply allows the children to continue their season with the coach they know and trust while the situation is clarified.
