DESCRIPTION
Please find below an Expression of Interest form for the Grace Dance Company // Schizy Inc Peer Led Dance Mental Health Creative Development.
The dancer cohort will comprise 6 young female identifying people with lived experience of the public mental health system (between the ages of 18-30). The participating cohort will identify with dance as a meaningful way of communicating, seeking to reconcile their artistic practice with their own lived experiences of mental ill health. The creative development will be collaborative and peer led, focussed on integrative peer support with improvisation and other dance practices. The program will be guided by Hannah Friebel, Lived Experience Consultant and Artist. You can find more info about her practice at
www.hannahgabriellefriebel.com or
www.sincerelysurvivor.orgThis will be a paid opportunity for dancers to support the creative development of a work, with the aim to apply for additional funding to perform at La Mama Theatre in late 2022. There will be a work in progress showing at the end of the development process, and the 6 cohort members will be invited to pursue additional professional development to practice as Peer Mental Health and Dance Practitioners through Grace Dance Company.
The location of the development will be at the St Cath's Arts Precinct, Caulfield South, requiring face to face attendance (covid pending) every Friday afternoon for the 10 week development period May-July.
Expressions of Interest will close on the 31st March 2022, with an introductory workshop/information session held soon after.
