Breaking a commitment and having extramarital affairs and false honey

°°°

Infidelity

A survey in China, conducted at the Shanghai Academy of Social Science, found that infidelity is a major reason for divorce in that country.

Divorce as a result of infidelity “has tripled in the past two years,” says the Shanghai report. Without doubt, extramarital affairs are one of the major causes of ruined marriages. Therefore, can having an affair ever be recommended as a remedy for a weak marriage?
Could a drug that kills 30 to 40 percent or more of its consumers ever be recommended as medicine?
Hardly!

Some argue that it is best to keep the affair secret from one’s marriage partner. But how? Explain Lake and Hills:

“Affairs are usually surrounded by a protective web of lies and deceit. Whether an affair is a secret or not and whether it has ended or is still going on, the lies are usually designed to ‘protect’ the marriage, or to safeguard certain aspects of the marital relationship. Many of these lies are half-truths, because the whole truth would be too painful to face up to, or might too radically alter the relationship between husband and wife.”

When a man and a woman marry, they commit themselves to each other. To break a commitment is cheating, betrayal.
Have lies, deceit, and half-truths ever brought lasting happiness to a marriage?

So before considering having a secret affair, one would do well to ask oneself:

Will all involved become happier?

What about the feelings of guilt and the constant fear of finally being found out?

Still others argue that the foremost purpose of marriage is to bring children into the world, and the importance of sticking to one’s mate fades when the children grow up and leave home. They claim that there can be a sexual reawakening. So what’s wrong with having an affair then?

Sexual reawakening

The Sexual “Reawakening”

There are psychologists and family counsellors who recommend that middle-aged persons have an extramarital affair to reawaken dormant resources. Claim Lake and Hills:

“An affair at this stage may well bring even more stability to a stable marriage, enabling one partner to feel alive in new ways without in the least threatening the other.”

Indeed, an affair may stimulate a person’s sexual appetite or satisfy his selfish fancy for a while.

“It seemed such a glamorous idea, having a lover,”

one middle-aged woman put it. But at what price?

Consider what happened to one middle-aged man after he had an affair with his secretary, who was 18 years his junior. His marriage of 30 years broke up, he began drinking heavily, and he was eventually fired from his job. He laments:

“I did it simply because I was so proud of myself. Imagine me, at my age, conquering an attractive young woman. I believe this need to brag, to prove what a macho type you are, lies behind much of the stupidity men devote themselves to when they get a chance. This is unfortunate, because such pride rests on a false foundation.”

“A false foundation”

indeed! The Bible long ago put it this way:

“Pride is before a crash, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.” — Proverbs 16:18.

Could it be that we are living in the Last Days

Bill Rudge believes you and him are living at the most exciting time in the history of the world. He writes:

Our generation will witness the fulfillment of what the prophets foretold thousands of years ago. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

We are well aware that throughout the times there have been many ‘prophets‘, ‘seers‘, ‘forecasters‘ or futurologists who claimed that people had to prepare themselves because the time of the end had come. Bill Rudge realises some of the signs we had to see or should be a warning for us to react, have occurred throughout history and many people wrongly concluded they were “the generation.” Though this time it could be totally different, we think as well.

Never before in history have we seen such an increase in both intensity and frequency of these indications. No other generation has had the potential, as our generation does, to witness the fulfillment of Revelation. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

For several centuries there has been talk of times that would come. The writers or forecasters spoke of unmissable signals or signs that we as humans could begin to observe. It has taken already ages before man could really be sure the time came at last.

We just have to listen to the news and watch what changed in the last few years, concerning natural events.
Nowadays we don’t have to look to other countries to encounter natural disasters They happen in our backyard, so to speak.

Throughout the world we are seeing bizarre, record-breaking weather conditions – some of history’s fiercest hurricanes, tornados, volcanoes, fires, floods and mudslides. Nature seems out of control and is getting more extreme. It is heading in the direction Revelation indicates will occur during the Tribulation period, testifying that cataclysmic global events are on the near horizon. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

But it is not only on the natural plane that we can observe a huge shift in recent years. At the political and economic level, as much is going wrong as at the ecological level.

There are earthquakes in diverse places, famines and wars and rumors of wars; increasing pollution of water, land and air; and widespread plagues and pestilence. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

Iraq, Iran, Kurdistan, and Afghanistan were just an impetus to other battles in Egypt, Syria in which certain superpowers played a bizarrely bad role (think America and Russia).
Therefore, after the US withdrew from Afghanistan, it still did not diminish in those regions. Russia, on the other hand, had been practicing in Syria for har larger battle to re-establish the old Russian Soviet Empire and march south as described in the Bible that the King of the north would go and do this, when the time came.

But not only between superpowers would battles erupt. People would also go up against each other during the final days. We see the different faith groups going against each other, even with gun violence. It didn’t even stay with the adults. All over the world, we see youth violence increasing. Not only are they attacking fellow youth, they are going against their parents and government leaders. In several cities, rebellious groups regularly fight against police forces. People do invent all kinds of reasons to justify violence, even God is brought in, in many cases.

In addition to all the mental, sexual and physical violence, we cannot ignore the fact that the morals and ethics of our society are at a very low ebb. People today even agree to kill someone else for a trifle.

Revelation indicates that people in the last days, during the Tribulation, won’t repent of four things:

1) Sorcery occultism and demonic phenomena will be very prominent;

2) Sexual Immorality – the world given over to lust and every sexual perversion imaginable;

3) Murders – that means we will be living in a very violent world – ethnic conflict, terrorism, hijackings, kidnappings, bombings, assassinations, homicides, serial killers, mass murders, abortion, robbery, assault and riots; and

4) Thefts/Liesdeceit and corruption will be widespread. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

People’s behaviour has not exactly improved. In recent years we see that behaviour is becoming more and more unreliable and corrupt, while people no longer even find it a shame to tell lies. Some even make it a sport to deceive and mislead others. There are even those who make a lot of money by making people believe in certain things that are not true. These influencers, as they are called, (or Internet celebrities) actually influence a lot of innocent victims.

Meanwhile, among the countries, many shifts, disconnections or amalgamations are again taking place, and we notice that things are very tense in the East.

Another “sign of the times” is Israel: for 2,500 years there was no independent nation of Israel. Yet the prophets foretold that events in the last days would focus in and around the tiny nation of Israel. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

It is not just a small group of believers who recognize the remarkable predicted characteristics.

Many of the world’s political and religious leaders are saying,

“We are not merely dealing with national crises, we are facing global catastrophes, unless we unite for the common good of the world!”

However, the expected golden era of peace, prosperity and unity will become the darkest hour earth will ever know. {Are We Living in the Last Days?}

If we look at how things are going in the world today, it does not bode well. For many, Russia may be the biggest bogeyman in the game. And they could be right yet again. For the current Russian leader is an unaccountable person, who can still find like-minded and helping souls here and there.

The current wars between Russia and Ukraine could easily grow into a Third World War and spill over even further into the predicted times of the end of this life system.

Leaders in disguise

Aiming for leadership

Many people love to have the power over others and would do everything to get the leadership.

This world has developed plenty of so called helpers who would bring the best to the nation. Many promised lots of things to the people who fell in their trap, but afterwards were silenced and disillusioned, only had to live with many sorrows and lots of pain.

Donald Trump thinks he knows where Bernie Sanders’ campaign went wrongThe world has seen many who said they would deliver their people from all the misery. They wanted their followers to believe they were the saviour or messiah. In this way the world also got to see several imposter Jesuses that feed into the world’s selfish desires — Guru Jesus, Braveheart Jesus, Dr. Phil Jesus, Free-Range Jesus. The problem is, they don’t have the power to save us or transform us into new creations. But also the other imposters, the bullies or bugaboos, who tickle the ears of their listeners and get lots of misguided followers who all seem to believe the lies which seem to be true because it would be strange in case such crazy stories would not be true. How bigger the lies how more acceptable, it seems. As such the world could find a.o. Victor Lustig, who sold the Eiffel Tower, the false princess Mary Carleton, Perkin Warbeck, a pretender to the throne of England and many others. America stayed not without them and saw a.o. James Reavis, who claimed he owned Arizona.

No knowledge of Basic Guide for life

Most people — most Christians, even — don’t have a basic working knowledge of the Holy Scriptures, be it the Torah, Tanakh, Hebrew or Christian/Messianic Bible Kethuvim Bet or the Quran. Because of that, so many can tell lies about what is written in those scriptures and many do believe those lies. In such way there are many who can use that unknown element to have others believe that they are right. As such there are people who try to terrorise others with lies about a religion which in its fundamentals should bring salam or peace.

In this world of deceit, the ones with the biggest mouth, are able to get enough followers to irritate the rest of the world. We see that with religious groups like Daesh and Boko Haram, but also with certain politicians, like Donald Trump.

The Boxing ring

Trump just slammed Hillary, Bernie and Elizabeth Warren in three rapid-fire tweetsFor certain politicians it is a sport to blacken others and to spit on others. Many people area afraid if they do not walk with a bully they would be bullied as well and therefore go with him and do if they like him. They are afraid to show their dis-likeness in some case or do think they do have to show that they agree with everything he says, though they do not.

In this world we have lots of people who love to be a master in having the highest quality of being deceitful or having as much falseness as it can be without others noticing it.

Those who say they know the Scriptures should be careful who they want to support or who they want to follow. They should come to see the disguised misleader. They should warn others not to take in the wolf or the Trojan horse before it is to late.

Being Christian

Christians should demand from their leaders to have integrity and to show compassion with others. Christians (believing people in Christ) should take themselves the clothing of Christ and do everything to take on the right attitude, the attitude of Jesus Christ, who loved his enemies and all those who were not mainstream.

In this diversified world it might not be easy always to accept all people around you. There may be many who act in a way you not like. Many people may be around you of whom you disapprove.

As a Christian you should always keep an open mind and treat the others as if they are your brother and sister who you want to give all your love. Yes you should also love the ones who you do not like. What would be the difference between you, as a Christian, and the unbeliever who has an open mind and is generous to those around him or her?

As a Christian you should others to show the way to the Agapè love and to Christ his world, where peace shall reign for ever. When you know the stories of Scripture you should learn from them and they should not only help you know what you believe and why you believe it, but should also help others to come to believe.

You should help others to see who might be a justified leader in the time being and who may bring the nation some things good. But you also should show others the dangers of those who could bring badness to the nation by excluding some people or by wishing to expand their own power or being part of more serious and dangerous institutions who look for their own economical gain (like the weapon industry).

Always deliberate the good and the bad and try to go for the least bad one or the safest one for all, and therefore not always the most profitable for yourself.

Make an honest choice for the community, safeguarding all who have to find a good place to live in.

Not making yourselves abominable

In Egypt, Joseph resisted temptation to adulte...

In Egypt, Joseph resisted temptation to adultery at great personal cost. Image from the Vienna Bible, 1743 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

God has always called His people to holiness:

Lev 11:43-44 The Scriptures 1998+  (43)  ‘Do not make yourselves abominable with any creeping creature that creeps, and do not make yourselves unclean with them, lest you be defiled by them.  (44)  ‘For I am יהוה  {Jehovah} your Elohim, and you shall set yourselves apart. And you shall be set-apart, for I am set-apart. And do not defile yourselves with any creeping creature that creeps on the earth.

1Pe 1:13-16 The Scriptures 1998+  (13)  Therefore, having girded up the loins of your mind, being sober, set your expectation perfectly upon the favour that is to be brought to you at the revelation of יהושע  {Jeshua} Messiah,  (14)  as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts in your ignorance,  (15)  instead, as the One who called you is set-apart, so you also should become set-apart in all behaviour,  (16)  because it has been written, “Be set-apart, for I am set-apart.”

Sanctification is a state of purity, set apart from defilement and dedicated to God and His service. This includes keeping our bodies from fornication (sexual immorality).
To do that, Jeshua calls on us to refuse the “passion of lust” that generates sexual sins and reminds us that which proceeds out of the man, that defiles the man.

Mat 5:27-29 The Scriptures 1998+  (27)  “You heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’  (28)  “But I say to you that everyone looking at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.  (29)  “And if your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is better for you that one of your members perish, than for your entire body to be thrown into Gehenna.

Mar 7:18-23 The Scriptures 1998+  (18)  And He said to them, “Are you also without understanding? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside is unable to defile him,  (19)  because it does not enter his heart but his stomach,1 and is eliminated, thus purging all the foods?” Footnote: 1Mt. 15:20.  (20)  And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man.  (21)  “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil reasonings, adulteries, whorings, murders,  (22)  thefts, greedy desires, wickednesses, deceit, indecency, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.  (23)  “All these wicked matters come from within and defile a man.”

Though living in this world we should not be conformed to this world, but be transformed in the newness of our mind, so that we may demonstrate what is the will of God: what is good, and what is well-pleasing, and what is perfect.
We should be an example to others, who have to see a difference of living between us Christians and non-Christians. Many in the world can not master their feelings. We should work on it and make best efforts to gain control over our bodies by renewing our minds.

Rom 12:2 The Scriptures 1998+  (2)  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Elohim.

By living up to the renewal of our mind, that you we know experimentally what the will of God is, we can live in a pure condition according the Law of God and as such presenting ourselves to God as his worthy children, showing the world we are set apart or being holy.

Doing which is good and acceptable and perfect in the eyes of God we can use our bodies in holy ways that honour God.

Our choice to have pure love, good sanctified relationships, no escapades in our sexual and spiritual life not only honours God but shows our respect to our partner and those around us.

On the other hand, those who do not know God live to satisfy their fleshly lusts. By doing so, they dishonour themselves and God.

We as Christians are called out of sin’s defilement to be holy and pure in mind and body.

Not following the tradition of man

Looking for having success we can follow different paths. To come to the most positive way to get somewhere we best look into the very Old book of books, the bible where we can find a lot of advice, better than that of man of today.

The first of the Epistles to the Colossians (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, following the tradition of men according to the rudiments of the world, and not in accordance with Christ.” (Colossians 2:8 KJ21)

The apostle Paul tells the Colossians,

“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit according to human tradition …” (Letter to the Colossians 2:8);

telling them that

“they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh” (Colossians 2:23).

“holding fast to the head, from whom the whole body, nourished and knit together through its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God” (Colossians 2:19).

And how does this happen?

By reading the word of God; it provides essential spiritual nourishment that we need every day. But it is not so much a case of trying to stop ourselves doing things that our human nature inclines us toward thinking and doing, but rather trying to occupy our thoughts to a greater degree with spiritual things. The result will be that we will be less and less inclined to indulge in fleshly thoughts and activities, but will grow “with a growth that is from God” as we appreciate his word to an ever greater degree.

Reading the Word of God we can come to get to know the Works of God, His Plan, how He has chosen Himself a people and how we too can become partakers of the promise God made in the Garden of Eden. There a positive message was given to those who had broken the relationship with God. The Creator saw the faults of the 1° Adam and took care that there would come a 2° Adam to save all people. But it would be up to the people themselves to accept or to ignore the Good News of the Saviour.

The promised one was the son of God, the Nazarene Jeshua (Jesus Christ). Under his blessing a person can come “in the light of Christ” and can get a positive mind. To come to more knowledge and mature in faith and spirit the person has to open his mind  in such a way that Christ can come in him or her. The one who got to know Christ wants to build a relationship with him and with his followers.

Central to our relationship with God is “Christ in you” (Colossians 1:27). “Him we proclaim”, writes Paul, “that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28).

How is your maturity developing? Absorbing the true sense of the divine word is a foundation for this. May we all increase day by day in the “knowledge of God” and become “mature in Christ” so his way of thinking becomes more and more our way of thinking.

Such a right way of thinking shall also create a right way of living and having us taking on the right attitude for living and for having good relationships with others and to become successful in our life. We also can see that like at the beginning of the world the 1° Adam rejected the right of God to be the Master in the world, we do find lots of people who take such an adversary attitude against the Creator as well. They mostly bring lots of negative elements against those who believe in the Creator. They also shall try to do everything to get those believers a negative feeling.

From Scriptures we learn that we should not envy others, but we also come to see how the world develops and which position human beings are going to take in it and how we are set to chose. We also have to make up our choice to whom we want to belong.

Note in the dramatic account of Paul’s experience of shipwreck on the way to Rome in Acts 27 that Paul says

“the God I worship”

and then significantly adds,

“to whom I belong.”

Do we view our God in that way?

Those who are baptised commit their lives into the service of God and of Jesus Christ His son. In the same way, the people of Israel under Moses entered into a covenant with God. Moses told them,

“For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God: Jehovah thy God hath chosen thee to be a people for his own possession, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.” (Deuteronomy 7:6 ASV)

Sadly, most of the people in the generations that followed failed to have the sense of belonging to God possessed by those entering the promised land. If we make no commitment to belong to God, then we belong to the world – a world which is facing an awesome shipwreck!

Isaiah has a vision of our days; it describes a time when the kingdoms of men come to an end and “the lofty pride of man shall be humbled” (Isaiah 2:11). It is a message against “every high tower” (Isaiah 2:15) and never have buildings been built higher than today. Later Isaiah sees in vision:

We should be conscious that there shall come a day thta we shall not have to face the day of man but the day of the Adonai, divine Creator Who shall bind up the wounds of His people and shall heal the bruise caused by the blow they received from other man. at that day those who did not want to know of the Name of the Most High shall have to hear that Holy Name of the Adonai, the Most High Lord the elohim Hashem Jehovah. At that day those who did not want to know of Him shall hear and see from afar, his anger burning, in thick rising smoke. they than should know it is too late to avoid His lips full to the brim with fury, His tongue a consuming fire. His breath shall race over them like a tornado or like a racing torrent that rises up to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction, and put a bridle in the peoples’ mouths to lead them astray. Shall you be ready and shall your song be like one that is sung on a night when a holy feast is kept, and will your heart be happy, as if walking to the sound of the flute, to the mountain of Jehovah, the Adonai, to the rock of Isra’el?

“24 the oxen likewise and the young asses that till the ground shall eat savory provender, which hath been winnowed with the shovel and with the fork. 25 And there shall be upon every lofty mountain, and upon every high hill, brooks [and] streams of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers fall. 26 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that Jehovah bindeth up the hurt of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound.
27  Behold, the name of Jehovah cometh from far, burning with his anger, and in thick rising smoke: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a devouring fire; 28 and his breath is as an overflowing stream, that reacheth even unto the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction: and a bridle that causeth to err [shall be] in the jaws of the peoples. 29 Ye shall have a song as in the night when a holy feast is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come unto the mountain of Jehovah, to the Rock of Israel.” (Isaiah 30:24-29 ASV)

Those who do not know God’s word will indeed be terrified. But those who know God’s word, although their faith will be tested – as “man is humbled and each one is brought low” (Isaiah 2:9) – they will then rejoice in the total wonder of those days. Will you be there? You make the answer now!

Therefore it is important that you make the right choice and take the positive route. Not getting afraid of man around you, making you shy and withdrawn, or getting you down even to become depressed, but standing strong not getting intimidated by man, but believing and trusting in the Hand which is much more Powerful than any human person, remembering:

“The lofty looks of man shall be brought low, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and Jehovah alone shall be exalted in that day.” (Isaiah 2:11 ASV)

  • Does Paul Condemn Philosophy? (pastorbrianchilton.wordpress.com)
    Some Christians have criticized the use of philosophy due to Paul’s statement against philosophy in Colossians 2:8. Yet, Christianity teaches is knowledgeable, is based on truth, defines the nature and meaning of life, holds great logic, teaches aesthetics, ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology. Paul himself gives lessons in most of the previously mentioned systems. So, does Paul refute himself? Or is there a problem with the way many interpret Colossians 2:8? So, the question must be asked: does Paul really criticize the use of philosophy? In this article, Paul’s statement in Colossians 2:8 will be exegetically examined and in its proper context and the article will answer whether Paul really condemns philosophy after all.

    Paul uses a form of philosophical apologetics to demonstrate that empty arguments and bad philosophy does not represent the truth. If one places his or her faith in any system that leads one away from the truth, that person will slowly erode into a system of erroneous trust and hedonistic living. That is not to say that one may not have elements of truth, but holding elements of truth does not necessitate that one holds full truth. A little bit of error can lead down a pathway of huge problems.

    How about using fear as a reason to not do things right. How about following your heart? Keeping yourself so busy you do not have time to study. How about liking certain philosophies even if they are secular, but we spend a lot of time trying to make it work with Christianity because it is more modern.

    When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

  • Moving Through Time: Timeline of Religion (pcr.wpengine.com)
    Since the beginning of time, mankind has formed beliefs of the unexplainable and unknowable. Over thousands of years, these beliefs became traditional, customary, and institutionalized within regional societies. People continue to express an interest in spiritual matters from all corners around the world. Everybody has pondered the meaning of life, what happens after we die, what existed before us, and whether any other life exists in the universe. Mankind may never know concrete answers regarding the spiritual. In fact, humans may destroy the planet before we can discover the remaining life in unexplored regions. Nevertheless, we continue to seek spiritual enlightenment and a connection with our Creator.
