U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that he was “very unhappy” about his telephone call with Vladimir Putin on the war in Ukraine, saying the Russian leader just wanted to “keep killing people.”
“It’s a very tough situation. I told you I was very unhappy with my call with President Putin. He wants to go all the way, just keep killing people, it’s no good,”
Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. Trump also hinted that he may finally be ready to toughen sanctions against Russia, having held off for the past six months while he tried to persuade Putin to end the war.
“We talk about sanctions a lot,”
Trump said.
“He understands that it may be coming.”
Trump added that he and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, meanwhile, had a “very strategic call” on Friday, as concerns mounted in Kyiv over U.S. military aid deliveries. Zelensky said earlier that the two leaders had agreed to work to “strengthen” Ukraine’s air defenses, following Russia’s largest drone and missile barrage of the invasion so far.

More than 550 drones and missiles were launched at Ukraine overnight, with Kyiv bearing the brunt of the seven-hour barrage. It left one dead, 23 injured and the capital choked by explosions, smoke and fires.
Mr Trump described his phone call with the Russian leader as “disappointing” and said he was “not happy” Trump said he had also discussed sending Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine in a separate call with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Friday. At some point something will happen that will bring the Ukraine war to a stalemate. Russia is highly unlikely to invade Israel while it is fighting a full scale war with Ukraine….

Since the autumn of 2022 Ukraine’s western backers have crossed one threshold after another in response to President Putin’s invasion of his neighbour. After much agonising, the West first gave Kyiv offensive multiple-launch rockets, then Patriot air defence missiles, then Nato tanks, then cruise missiles, then F-16 aircraft, and latterly, ATACMS — the US army’s tactical ballistic missile system.
On Thursday, President Biden took a hesitant step across the most delicate threshold of all, announcing that Ukraine could use some of the most offensive of these US weapons to strike at targets on the Russian side of the border opposite Ukraine’s Kharkiv region. No wonder Kremlin figures are rushing to the microphone to issue — as usual — dark threats about escalation towards a general European war. Nato is determined not to be frightened by Russian bluster, even though some of its individual leaders manifestly are. Like the US military aid package in April, Nato simply views this threshold as one it must now cross if Ukraine is to stay in the fight against a rapidly mobilising Russian war machine

Ukraine is already believed to have used the British-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missile, with London’s permission, against fixed targets on the Russian side of the border. A number of long-range weapons systems may be involved in the coming weeks. Ukraine has already used U.S. weapons to strike inside Russia in recent days, according to a U.S. senator and a Western official familiar with the matter.
The Bible says specifically that the king of the south (US/UK) will “push” – militarily provoke – Gog the Russian ruler. The word “push” means to “gore” as a horn of an animal. It is a good analogy for what is happening. Missile strikes using US/UK weapons = a goring of Gog.

The period from the 750s to the 1100s is generally known as the Viking era in Scandinavian history. If you have Scandinavian in your DNA, it is probably from this period when the Vikings were exploring, conquering and mating with the maidens of Northern Europe. The Vikings originated in Denmark, spread into what is now Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, Greenland, Northern Scotland and the Hebrides islands, Northern Ireland, Northern Europe, particularly Normandy (now France), over to Kiev, along the Dneiper River in what is now Ukraine, founding the Rus, and even way over to North America — what is now part of Canada, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and New Brunswick. In short, the Vikings really got around, spread their seeds far and wide. They were also great traders, and looking for a higher standard of living.
Overal in de Vlaamse regio in België en Frankrijk de Westhoek zijn nog altijd sporen te vinden van een oorlog die men dacht dat het de laatste zou zijn, omdat zijn gruwel niet te evenaren zou zijn. Daarvoor was in de 16de eeuw na de Beeldenstorm de plaatselijke bevolking al erg uitgedund. Pas in de 18e eeuw kon men terug het bevolkingsaantal op het niveau van voor 1566 zien. Maar op op 21 oktober1914 begon met de Eerste Slag om Ieper een man tot man gevecht van een heel andere orde dan die veldslagen die vroeger op de Vlaamse velden regelmatig werden uitgevochten. De Westhoek werd een plaats waar ongehoord duizenden hun leven zouden achter laten. Men kan er nu honderden grote en kleine zowel Belgische, Britse, Franse als Duitse begraafplaatsen vinden die het West-Vlaamse landschap tekenen als eerbetoon aan de gesneuvelden in de Grote Oorlog.
Maar al snel na WO I stond de volgende wereldoorlog al klaar. Toen dacht men echt dat men er voor kon zorgen dat er geen staten meer tegen elkaar zouden gaan vechten en daarbij andere landen zouden betrekken zodat er een derde wereldoorlog zou uitbreken.
Al in 2013 toen men demonstraties op het Majdan Nezalezjnosti, ook bekend als het Onafhankelijkheidsplein in Kyiv (Kiev), kon zien, kwam met dat begin van Euromaidan ook een onrustiger gevoelen naar voor in West Europa. Men voelde het in Europa warmer worden. Na jaren van schijnbare vrede bleek de Koude Oorlog terug voor de deur te staan al dacht men dat het bij het vallen van de Berlijnse Muur in 1989 gedaan zou zijn. De landen leken dichter naar elkaar te groeien en een mengelmoes van volkeren te worden, dat in zekere vorm een grotere eenheid zou hebben kunnen mee brengen. Men hoopte dat de globalisatie zou bijdragen tot een vermenging van culturen maar ook voor een meer openstaan naar andere culturen en bevolkingsgroepen.

Op 22 februari 2014 werd nadat president Viktor Janoekovytsj van Kyiv naar Charkov was gevlucht, door het Oekraïense parlement ingestemd met het afzetten van de president en organisatie van presidentsverkiezingen op 25 mei 2014. Daar en dan kan men stellen werd het zaad in de grond gestoken voor datgene wat Europa vandaag over komt.
De Russen waren helemaal niet tevreden met de Oekraïense presidentsverkiezingen en was maar al te blij en berijd in te stemmen met de protesten in de oostelijke en zuidelijke delen van Oekraïne, die resulteerden in de afscheiding van de Oost-Oekraïense oblasten Donetsk en Loehansk waarbij de opstandelingen de volksrepubliek Donetsk en volksrepubliek Loehansk uitriepen, om net als de Krim een deel van Rusland te worden. Maar de overige gebieden in de Donbas bleven onder het gezag van het Oekraïense leger, om tot een 8 jaar durend kat en muisspel te resulteren.

Na de Minsk akkoorden leek het wat stiller geworden tot het afgesproken staakt-het-vuren door de Russische president Vladimir Poetin verbroken werd met zijn uitroep dat Rusland de zelfverklaarde volksrepublieken Donetsk en Loehansk erkende, inclusief hun claims op het gehele grondgebied van respectievelijk oblast Donetsk en oblast Loehansk.
Ook al beweerde Poetin lange tijd dat hij Oakraïne niet zou binnenvallen, deed hij dat na het einde van het eerste deel van de 24ste Olympische Winterspelen toch.
Met zijn inval in Oekraïne beweerde Poetin een vredesmissie aan te gaan, maar meer en meer kan duidelijk gezien worden dat die Russische dictator totaal niets met een mensenleven inzit en alles op alles wil zetten om Oekraïne bij zijn land in te lijven. Hiervoor haalt hij zelfs door internationale verdragen verboden wapens boven om deze tegen weerloze burgers in te zetten. Scholen, kinderparken, kraamklinieken en burgerhospitalen worden beschoten en zo totaal verwoest. Ook de vele prachtige monumenten moeten er aan geloven terwijl het Russisch leger een waar slagveld maakt van een land dat 44,32 miljoen inwoners had, waarvan er vermoedelijk nu al 2 miljoen (vrouwen met hun kinderen) naar het Westen zijn gevlucht.
Het lijkt er op dat de Russische invasie ingezet op 24 februari 2022 weer een verschrikkelijke oorlog over Europa heen brengt.
Hij en zijn liederen zijn verbonden met Bachten de Kupe dat nog steeds gekenmerkt wordt door zijn oorlogsverleden, namelijk een van de bloedigste frontstreken van de Eerste Wereldoorlog, 1914-1918, iets wat nog altijd te zien is aan de vele oorlogskerkhoven van beide kampen.
De relaties tussen Rusland en het Westen zijn nu helemaal verzuurd geraakt en door zijn grove leugens eind vorig jaar en begin dit jaar, voor de inval in Oekraïne is het vertrouwen in Poetin helemaal geschonden en sis hij nu voor velen een onbetrouwbaar persoon die zich ook niet aan zijn afspraken houdt.
Die onberekenbaarheid en de drieste wijze waarop het Russisch leger de gebieden van Oekraïne wenst te veroveren kunnen ons enkel doen bidden voor die mensen die daar al dat leed moeten ondergaan terwijl de rest van de wereld eigenlijk niet kan ingrijpen omdat wij anders werkelijk in de derde wereld oorlog zullen beland zijn.
Terwijl het gure weer ginder aan houdt moeten duizenden in metrostations en bunkers schuilen zonder verwarming en zonder de nodige voeding en medicijnen.
Vele bomen zijn daar al gesneuveld terwijl de wapens voort gaan om nog meer te vernielen. Wij zien zelfs tanks zomaar over wagens, met mensen er in, rijden of het niets is. Men kan zich afvragen waar het gevoelen is van die legervoertuigen die gaten in woonblokken schieten en hospitalen bombarderen terwijl zij de verwonde mensen er zien uit vluchten. Waar is hun menselijke ziel en gevoelen?
Hebben zij hun innerlijke stem het zwijgen opgelegd? Of zijn ze doof geworden voor enig menselijk gevoel en besef?
In welke mate beseffen de Russische dienstplichtigen dat zij gewoon als kanonnenvoer worden gebruikt door hun Russische heerser? Hoe lang gaan zij hun verstand op ‘nul’ zetten en voort gaan met deze dwaasheid die zo veel mensenlevens kost?

We mikken wel ne keer naar mekaar zijne kop
Maar just om ons ‘t amuseren
In ieder geval is nu al duidelijk dat wij in een “Woeste Waanzin” zijn beland.

How do I write that my older brother could go to war? How do I write that I cannot comfort my godchildren, wipe their tears away and protect them from the injustice now taking place? How can I write that the peace in which my goddaughter believes does not exist?
Imagine the place you have always called home, the place where you planned to start a family, being bombed into terror and destruction. This is what I’m experiencing. And I am still struggling to believe it.
The country I proudly call my home is Ukraine. Let us not call this a ‘crisis’. Let us open our eyes to see that this is nothing short of a re-invasion by one aggressor. People are dying, families are being destroyed. Children, women and men are being killed every day. For what? For a rich man…
It is good for us who live in Western Europe to hear various voices from the North-East. Knowing that after the corona crisis an even more dangerous virus may now affect the world, we should not allow ourselves to be misled by propaganda, and it is, therefore, all the more important to also hear the voice of the ordinary man in the street of a country under attack from a power-hungry individual who will not hesitate to lead Europe into a third world war.
Not everyone is gifted to find a good place to shelter his or her life.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who must now face the harsh reality of the world’s most heinous acts.
When I woke up on 24 February, I was expecting a day like any other. I’d have breakfast, make coffee, and head to work. I’d smile at our customers, trade anecdotes with my colleagues, call my friends and family to ask them about their plans for the upcoming weekend. “Maybe we can go see a movie”, I’d suggest, or “maybe we’ll go out dancing”. I’ve always enjoyed the stability of this routine, the comfort of an ever-constant schedule. That comfort is long gone.
When I woke up on the 24 February, it was to the sound of my mother’s voice through the receiver, an audible tremor in her words as she told me that a full-scale invasion by Russian forces was no longer a threat, but a crushing reality. I wasn’t oblivious to the gravity of my country’s situation — I’d packed a suitcase…
Today the sky is blue, a robin chirps Flitting, his red breast skips into my view And all is calm. Except it’s not. Somewhere The tanks rumble forward. Missiles fire. Red stains. How can this be? How can our world encompass This contradiction? Why should I enjoy the sun When members of my family unmet Know only fear, uncertainty and try To conjure up the bravery required? To pour out verse cannot compare with what Is asked of them, but what else can I offer? I have no gun. Only prayer. And so I call upon another who Was subjected to unfair violence. I cannot comprehend, but maybe he Whose blood was also shed might understand?

Bible prophecies do not deal only with the ancient past. They also accurately foretell events that are taking place in our day. But at the moment we focus at numerous prophecies preserved in the Hebrew Scriptures (commonly called the Old Testament) which long before the man was born told about events which would happen in his time and around him, his betrayal, humiliation, torture, execution, death, and burial. From those writings of the Old and New Testament nobody should have doubts who that man is who is called Immanuel, the son of man and Messiah, born out of the root of Jess in the tribe of king David.
In Scripture, all things are directed towards a man who was a servant of servants, in whom people should come to have faith. First we saw the connection with Eve and her seed, and in this article you may see the connection with Abraham.
Already in the Old Testament we find the focus on a son of man who is called the son of God, who shall be the most pure set apart (holy) servant of God who was been told about in the Garden of Eden, to be the one bruised.
Many Old Testament writers wrote about the prophet to come, about whom is spoke in the book of Moses and who shall be the special “Seed of a woman” given by God and who will bruise Satan’s head whilst his heel would be bruised with nails on the wooden stake.
