how you have captured
our imagination
our love
alone and tormented in life
you are copied
and sung about in death
your troubled mind
your passion
and longing for freedom
your intensity
trying to make those around you
see what you knew to be there
but they were blind to your dreams
you frightened them with your colors
in a wold of sheep
you were a unicorn
and we have written a new life
for you
a life full of praise
and adoration
you flash across the walls
of the finest museums
your work is everywhere
printed on postcards
posters
clothing
and canvas
your brother Theo
loved and supported you
the only one who
believed you were
a true artist
who lived his art
but an artist
who was misunderstood
by those who could only see gray
those people are still here Vincent
they never go away
but there are those who have learned from you
and hope that wherever you are
