You can try the following steps, which usually force Copilot to refresh the available models in VS Code when a newly released one (like opus-4.5) doesnβt appear in the dropdown:
Go to Extensions β GitHub Copilot Chat and make sure you're on the latest version. Sometimes VS Code doesnβt auto-update the Copilot extensions immediately.
Open the Command Palette and run:
From the Accounts menu, fully sign out of GitHub, restart VS Code, then sign in again.
In some cases, when this setting is active, Copilot doesnβt display alternative models in the dropdown.
If you have the GitHub CLI installed, you can run:
This command confirms whether the model is available on your account, even if VS Code doesn't show it. If none of the above works, it's likely that opus-4.5 is still rolling out gradually, and your VS Code client isnβt included in the rollout yet β but the steps above typically resolve most cases where the model is available but not appearing in the UI. |
