Updating twitter icons in quarto to that of X

Hi all, in the footer of our _quarto.yml file, we leverage the built in icons by describing them like this:

 left:
      - icon: github
        href: https://github.com/...
      - icon: twitter
        href: https://twitter.com/...
      - icon: discord
        href: https://discord.com/invite/...
      - icon: youtube
        href: https://www.youtube.com/channel/...

My question is, now that twitter has been "rebranded" is there any roadmap or plan to change the twitter icon? If not what would be a good work around to maintain the same look and feel?

I'm aware that Font Awesome do have an x logo in circulation at the moment.

1. Use Iconify Quarto extension

   quarto add mcanouil/[email protected]

2. Edit your _quarto.yml

   - text: "{{< iconify fa6-brands square-x-twitter >}}"
     href: https://twitter.com/...

Note that the default icons are provided by Bootstrap, so an update means more than just the icons.

EDIT: It seems Quarto 1.4 pre-release has the latest, so using twitter-x should give you the correct logo (https://icons.getbootstrap.com/icons/twitter-x/).

I'm not sure whether it's common knowledge by now, but in case someone stumbles upon this as I did, one can now use

- icon: twitter-x

instead of

- icon: twitter.
