My name is Lachie Young. I’m 20 years old, from a farm two hours east of Perth in the wheatbelt.
In 2027, I will attempt to become the first Australian to run the length of Canada — around 6,500km's in under 150 days.
I’m not a professional athlete. I’m not built for this on paper. I’m just a young bloke with a big idea — and a reason that matters.
What started as a drunken joke between mates has become a mission.
Over the last six months, I’ve faced my own mental health challenges. Growing up in a rural community, I’ve seen how heavy that weight can be — and how often people carry it in silence.
This run isn’t about breaking records.
It’s about breaking the silence.
I’m running to raise awareness for mental health, to start real conversations, and to remind people they are not alone.
A large percentage of all funds raised will go directly toward mental health initiatives such as The Blue Tree Project, making a real impact. A smaller portion will cover the essential logistics that make a 6,500km run possible — travel, vehicles, fuel, food, accommodation, shoes, equipment, and support crew.
The goal is $1,000,000.
Not because it sounds good — but because mental health deserves that level of commitment.
If this message resonates with you, I’d love your support.
This is bigger than a run.
