As a young, 28 year old mom, Briana wanted nothing more than to enjoy the wonders of Christmas with her sweet 4 year old son, Nolan. But she just had no energy. Towards the end of December, she began to notice bruises, to have severe bloody noses, headaches, dizziness, fatigue and bright spots in her eyes.
There was a delay in her ability to get in to see a doctor due to COVID. She rapidly deteriorated, calling to beg the doctor to get her in sooner. Thank God they were able to squeeze her in and draw her blood. That Saturday, January 23rd, she was rushed to the hospital with brain bleeds and the fear of Leukemia. By Monday, she had a diagnosis....Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia.
The good news is that her doctors are extremely optimistic. The bad news is that this diagnosis means a month in the hospital at this time to receive IV chemotherapy as well as chemo in pill form. It means that she will have week long "stints" in the hospital in the future to receive additional rounds of chemo. It means many daily transfusions of blood products. It means numerous CT scans to monitor her brain bleeds and to be sure the cancer has not taken hold in other parts of her body. It means her immune system has been wiped out and she is at tremendous risk of other infections.
If you were to ask Briana, the worst of it is that she is unable to hold and kiss her sweet Nolan. They can't see each other during all of this! But he is "her reason" to, in her words, "FIGHT LIKE HELL!" (Please listen to his video above)
This is where you come in. Please continue to pray and to offer words of encouragement. They are greatly appreciated and felt. We also ask you to consider helping financially by making a donation if you are able. This will help tremendously with her medical bills which are accumulating quickly. Not only does cancer cause extreme physical and emotional hardships, it causes extreme financial hardship. Please consider helping this amazing young woman, mother, wife, daughter, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece and friend. We would all be eternally grateful.
May God bless all of you.
