Busy Hands Are Happy Hands

If you read my post from the 25th,  you'll remember that I was lamenting misplacing  losing a roll of ribbon somewhere between the store and my sewing room.  Well, today I found it!  Yea!  It had rolled away and was behind the door to my sewing room.  I hardly ever look behind the door, just shut it on the mess  "ha".   Today I was chilly, my sewing room is in the basement, and sometimes I stash a long- sleeved shirt on the doorknob.  My shirt was not there  ( can you say 'senior moment"), but there was the roll of dark pink ribbon.  So glad I had not made a special trip back to our local big box discount store to purchase another!.  So now I will finish the comfort blocks for my quilt guild.

Also finished reading a book picked up at the library. It is a new 2012 published book. " First You Try Everything" by Jane McCafferty. I do NOT recommend it. The book was difficult to read, the character not easy to like and I cannot ( even though I feel a bit crazy myself at times) believe anyone can be that "off the wall". Dumb Dumb Dumb.  I have started reading "Watermelon" by Marian Keyes. Picked up at the library too.
I sometimes pick up a book by it's cover. This one had a recommendation on the cover written by Nora Roberts, and since I have read a ton of her books, I chose this one.  Same premise, so far, as the first one. Husband leaves wife......what's with that!!!!!  Will continue with this one and see where  it goes.

Today is sunny and warm, though windy as is normal in Wyoming. I have been trying to log all the books I have read on Goodreads. And in doing so, began to peruse some favorite blogs. DH is in his "build room" working on a foam airplane model to present to a local Boy Scout troop. I have done absolutely nothing of consequence. I did not get up a go to my "class" at 5 am.  Had a bit of a headache, but that was just an excuse. I was just plain lazy.  Lisa brought by our order of GS cookies a bit ago, and we visited on the driveway for a bit. It was nice catching up. We will have lunch sometime this summer.

It is now, late afternoon, and I need to do "something"  Laundry, ironing, sewing, reading, stitching.  Something!.

I always was proud of our library here in Campbell County Wyoming. But today I am disappointed. I went to check out The Bungalow by Sarah Jio.  They don't have it.  So I had a list of Amy Einhorn Imprint books for another challenge I am doing.  I found 1 on the list I had with me.  Remedies by Kate Ledger. So today I will start the reading Remedies.  I will go with a more complete list next time and guess I will make my way to Hastings to purchase Sarah Jio's book.  I love owning books, but was trying to cut down on expenses.  I will keep trying, I will probably have to have a list of those imprint books published in 2009 or 2010.  Maybe they will have those.


Today I also worked on some heart blocks for PPQG comfort blocks. I found a kinda squishy wooden heart I purchased long ago. It has 2 holes in the middle for maybe a ribbon or such.  So I cut out a pink print and as I looked at my ribbon stash, realized the 1/4 inch ribbon was probably too fat. So I have 2 shades of yellow, blue, green of 1/8 " ribbon.  I had a piece of white for the pink block. It turned out cute. So off I went to "Wally World" to buy 1/8 " ribbon. They were out of white.  Small town syndrome again.  I bought light pink, dark pink, and red.  $.47 each.  I tossed them in my purse with the receipt, and when I got out to the car, put them in with the fat quarters I had purchase at LQS.   Went to put away, all the fat quarters where in the bag, only the light pink and red ribbon was there. I looked in the car ( 4X) under the seat, everywhere.  NADA.  makes me so mad.!!!!

I did get one more pink heart done, and a lavender one, which I tied with 1/4" white ribbon, but it's not as nice.  Guess I will cut out other hearts in coordinating colors for the ribbon I have.  Want to have 12 done by our guild meeting on the 2nd Tuesday.

Today I participated in a Mini Quilt Show at Primrose Retirement Center.  6 members of PPQG participated and also a Primrose resident and her daughter. We had a great time, there were probably 25-30 attendees. Alicia provided a wonderful treat table with awesome brownies, fruit and chocolate cream cheese!!! I took my FIRST Quilt, the quilt I won in 2005 and Steve's airplane quilt.  It was great fun. I really have to remember to take my camera more frequently.

We returned from our cruise last night around 9pm, to rain and much cooler temps than we had been experiencing the last 8 days. I hoped to have pictures to post, but my camera crashed in reading the memory card. So I had to buy disposables. They are at the developer ( WALMART) but I did not get back there to pick them up. So maybe by Wednesday. We did have a fabulous time. The suite was awesome and over the top.
While reading on the balcony, I finished "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" by Steig Larrson, for the Creepy Crawly challenge in the What's In a Name 5 Challenge from Beth Fish Reads.  I am no good at reviews, but I did enjoy it as much as the others. I pretty much had the plot figured, with the exception of Lisbeth's final challenge.

The only book in the ship's convenience store that was one I hadn't read or wanted to, was "The Search" by Nora Roberts.  I am enjoying it too. As usual, fluffy, predictable, but fun.
Tomorrow is my book club meeting to discuss "Death Along the Spirit Road by C.M.(Curt) Wendelboe.  He will be at the meeting. I am anxious to hear his story.

My book order came...Yea. Started "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest"  for my Creepy Crawly challenge for Whats in a Name 5. This has sure been fun, picking different titles to fit the categories.
 Last night I went to a new Stitchery Class at the Quilt Nook.  The project will be basket embroidery for a quilt.  I will never make a quilt, but maybe a wall hanging or pillow covers. Also have a few small projects. Asparagas on a dishtowel, and a silly bird on a tote made from kitchen towels.  They are cute. Think I will take the small projects on the cruise.  Maybe I won't have time to stitch, but then again maybe I will.

My Tuesday Treasure has to be my quilting sisters. We gather informally on Sunday afternoon. We call ourselves Quilt Chicks. They know all about me and love me warts and all. They are my bff's.

Haven't been posting lately.  Trying to stay focused and able maintain a good attitude.  I had a few days of the "funk".  But got back to the gym, and my recent quilt project. That helped a whole lot.  This week I have a scheduled hair color and will get my toenails done.  Have to have color on my toenails if I am going to wear sandals.  I need to make a packing list.  I am not taking my laptop on vacation, so will finish up all my WWF games and then not start another until after the 18th.  I decorated a bit for St. Patricks.  I have Bunco here when we return, so have to have that ready. What to serve......I'll have to think!. I am rambling!!!!

I have been reading though. I just finished the 4th in a Reading Challenge on Beth Fish Reads 5. I read "Two for the Dough" by Janet Evonovich to complete the challenge of "something you would carry in a pocket, purseor backpack" I enjoyed the book as I did the first in the series. Stephanie Plum is a 'crazy girl'.  I cannot figure out how to link blog to the reading challenge. So hopefully anyone interested can look and see what I have read. I also posted a comment on the Beth Fish Read linkup site.  This blogging is a challenge and interesting all at the same time.
