I LIKE Thursday. 4-2-26

From Sweatpants and Coffee

I haven’t posted in a week. Not sure why I was so busy? Last week, I filled up my car. We have a Chevy Equinox that uses diesel. The total was nearly $50!  A definite NOT LIKE.   I had to giggle at the add underneath. We Have Bread!  It took some of my “bread” to get the fuel.

I guess I have one blooming flower!  Haha. Gotta love those tough Wyoming dandelions.

We drove past the protesters at the No Kings Rally in our town in this Red Red state. This poster was local, I love the creativity.

Here is a Self-Care bucket list for the new month.

From the internet, @lanie_lately

I can’t wait for the farmer’s markets and backyard barbecues. April a bit early for those things in Wyoming, but they WILL happen. I hope to be able to plant some bulbs, donate old clothes, watch a sunrise.

Tuesday I fixed a sausage sauerkraut skillet.  It turned out really good. The sauerkraut was a gift from a gardener friend . She grew cabbage and home canned sauerkraut. It was wonderful. I used this recipe.

Do you make anything special for Easter dinner? Do you use special recipes or tableware? Do you order chocolate bunnies to give out or keep? Do you bite the ears off first? What about hot cross buns or other special cookies? share your recipe?

I used to go all out for Easter. Not really anything special, but ham, scalloped potatoes, orange jellos with mandarin oranges. We bought chocolate bunnies at K-mart for the kids. Always hollow and yes the ears went first. No to hot cross buns or special cookies.

Thank-you LeeAnna for this place to talk about the things in my life.. See others at Not Afraid of Color

I LIKE Thursday #274

The calendar says it’s Spring, we Sprung Forward on the clocks, my iPad even agrees.

This was yesterday. But there was a red flag warning until 10:00 pm last night. Too warm, too dry, and two windy.

I changed some of my small decor. My buffet. The Spring Alphabet Sampler cube doesn’t show up well.

Two long-legged rabbits sit around my candle warmer. The basket has another cross stitch rabbit from Melissa at Pinker n Punkin, and some heirloom eggs.  This year I added bunny ears, just for fun.

Above is a stitchery from Kathy Schmitz. I love Mr. Bunny with his eggs in a backpack.

Near our front door is a Patchabilities Easter skinny wall hanging . Perfect for that narrow space.

This is another regular in the seasonal rotation. All were from a magazine I used to get. I can’t remember if it was Quiltmaker or Quilts and More. But many years ago.

This is a bad photo, but Mr Busy and I took a short road trip to the nearest neighboring town, Moorcroft,WY. The truck stop there had this sweatshirt hanging up high. Had to get a shot of it. If you need an explanation just ask. I’ll gladly tell you.

Sunday we walked through the home show and looked at all the siding, windows, flooring booths. Our County Museum called for Red, White and Blue blocks for a commemorative quilt for 2026. I didn’t make a block, I just didn’t have the bandwidth last fall to do anything besides just exist. But Mr Busy took my picture anyway. I look sad!  I’ll have to be cognizant of that in the future.

Mr Busy finished his second puzzle of the year. One piece is missing. I think this one was one we loaned out then reassembled. The missing piece is on the bottom edge. Can you find it?

LeeAnna who hosts I Like Thursday, posed this conversation starter:

what was your favorite breakfast cereal as a kid. Would you eat it now?

My favorite cereal was Wheaties! Breakfast of Champions. I still like it and eat it now and then. I don’t eat much cereal anymore . Coffee, a piece of toast and 1/2 a banana is my usual. Though this week, DH cooked eggs. I used my new cup. Isn’t it pretty?

Ooh, this is a long post. Today I’ll be stitching with friends again. I’ll try to remember to get some photos of any Show n Tell.

SAHRR 2026

Finishing up this final post.  I’ll link up to the Parade on Kathleen McMusings blog as soon as it opens.

I started with an embroidered block that I never fully finished. My Post from January 17th

Then came Round #1.  Hourglass Blocks

Round #2 was  ‘Make It a Double”

Round #3 Animal Kingdomand #4 Curves followed.

Round#5 . Two Colors and the final Round #6 Quilter’s Choice

And now the finish, I hand stitched the binding down at my Thursday Stitchers gathering last Thursday the 19th.

As I was studying where I might add some final touches of beads, I discovered I missed quilting the left Double Tulip block. I marked it with a pin so I wouldn’t forget.

I put small triangles at the two upper corners on the back. I like to use small 1/4” dia. dowels to hang small things.

And it’s done!  Hanging for an outdoor glamour shot:

It does need a label, but I call it done.

Also linking up at Finished or Not Friday  ‘cause ya gotta celebrate every little finish !

ScrapHappy Saturday. 3-21-26

Today I’ll share at Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I have a third 16 patch  star completed. One more to go. I need to get 2 more green ones done. And go back and do Blue for January. Now that Project Quilting 17 and SAHRR have come to an end, I should be able to do those. If I get them all cut out and on design boards, I can use them as Leaders and Enders for each other.

And there will be crumb blocks !

SAHRR and Finished or Not Friday

And :

After Round #6. quilters choice.

 I’ve begun the quilting.

The dark purple fabric with the scattered shapes is the backing.

I used a light lavender thread for quilting. There was some stitch in the ditch , some  serpentine, some squiggles, some straight lines . And a  bazillion threads to bury.
And now the binding is on and I call it DONE.

I took this photo this morning at 7:02 am . It was gorgeous out front.

I also had a small finish: Project Quilting 17.6. A Happy Handful.

A pocket pincushion for a faraway friend.

I LIKE Thursday #273

We had snow earlier in the week. Not much accumulation. The geese from a local lake visited on Monday.

Not sure why there were just 5. Canada geese mate for life. I’m thinking the lone one may have lost his or her mate.

LeeAnna asks:

march 19 2026

What was your least favorite food as a child? Do you still hate it or do you love it now?

My mother ate sour cream on toast with maple syrup. I thought it was so gross. I never had to eat it though. So does it qualify as my least favorite?

But I love sour cream now. Not on bread with maple syrup, but on potatoes, in potato soup, stirred in chili, as a base for a chip dip. Of course on tacos  and enchiladas, etc.

Monday afternoon was my book club meeting. It’s also Spring Break, some members were caring for grandchildren. So we were a small group. We discussed this book.

We agreed it was a fun easy read. According to our resident author, it hit all the beats of the publishable historical western romance. The best part was the setting. The Oregon Trail through Wyoming. Places I have been and often wondered how on earth the wagon trains made it through the terrain.

Our next book is:

Sorry for the poor photo. It was dark outside when I snapped my phone camera. The pink drippy streak has me concerned. Is it blood? Or did the heroine spill her nail polish?

I had my annual Medicare follow-up yesterday . While I was waiting for Dr. Leslie to come in, I noticed this little sign .  I think I need this for my desk! I giggled out loud!

Check out LeeAnna’s post at Not Afraid of Color. She writes a fun blog and has links to others who share their week.

Project Quilting 17.6 A Happy Handful

The last and final prompt from Trish.  This year I  missed #4, Of Another Era. I started and failed in the completion.  Also I missed starting, doing, completing #5, My Complements. No post! I had company and doctor’s appointments. I planned on an Orange and Blue Tablerunner.

Anyway here we are. A Happy Handful.  The rules

Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these three requirements:

  • include patchwork

  • include appliqué

  • have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
And this week, small enough to fit in your hand. For a while now I have been thinking of a year long and rather intense project. I want to make initial pincushions for every member of my stitching group. When I first had the thought, we had about 8 members. Now we are up to 15. So, I’d better get a move on!
They will be birthday gists and this challenge is just what I needed to get going. The alphabet charts are from Jenny of Elefantz. The free alphabet is no longer on her blog, but there are lots of tutorials for her lovely designs.
I started with L. The next birthday is in April. So this lovely will go to Lynn. The rickrack defines a tiny pocket. It could hold a small embroidery scissors, or snips, or a tube of beads for her projects.

Thanks Kim and Trish for another fabulous year of pushing me to think outside the box and “gitter done” !
I’m linking this up at Persimon Dreams, Kim’s blog.
