MacKinnon posted two assists, four shots on goal and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. MacKinnon's first assist was the 700th in his career. Nathan MacKinnon : Crosses 700-assist mark in career
MacKinnon posted two assists, four shots on goal and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. MacKinnon's first assist was the 700th in his career. The 30-year-old has also crossed the 400-goal and 1,100-point marks this season, though he's likely done with reaching any round numbers for the regular season. He's earned five points over his last five outings, and he's up to 40 goals, 53 assists, 244 shots on net, 45 hits, 29 blocked shots, and a plus-48 rating over 55 appearances.
Valeri Nichushkin : Puts up trio of assists
Nichushkin registered three assists, two shots on goal, three hits and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Nichushkin helped out on both of Artturi Lehkonen's goals as well as Josh Manson's game-winner. This was Nichushkin's first multi-point effort since his hat trick versus the Blues on Dec. 31. The 30-year-old winger has earned a goal and six helpers over his last six outings. He's at 34 points in 46 contests this season, matching his output from 43 regular-season appearances in 2024-25. He's added 107 shots on net, 41 hits, 18 PIM and a plus-7 rating in 2025-26.
Josh Manson : Nets game-winner Wednesday
Manson scored a goal on four shots and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Manson went 11 games without a goal after posting two goals and two assists versus the Senators on Jan. 8. He had four assists in that span before snapping the goal drought with the game-winner Wednesday. The veteran defenseman is up to five goals, 24 points, 87 shots on net, 129 hits, 76 blocked shots, 64 PIM and a plus-37 rating over 55 appearances. While he lacks power-play production, Manson has been excellent in every other area this season as he benefits from playing on a high-scoring team.
Brock Nelson : Pots empty-netter Wednesday
Nelson scored an empty-net goal on five shots and added two PIM in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Nelson produced 15 goals and nine assists over 19 games between the holiday break and the Olympic break. The American center will be heading to Italy for the Olympics, and he goes international with plenty of momentum on his side. For the season, the 34-year-old has 29 goals, 49 points, 125 shots on net, 42 blocked shots, 28 hits and a plus-7 rating through 55 appearances. He'll likely be a steady source of two-way play during the Olympics.
Artturi Lehkonen : Scores two goals Wednesday
Lehkonen scored two goals and took five shots in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Lehkonen found the back of the net for the first time since Jan. 21, and this was the first time he scored two goals in a single game since Nov. 9. The 30-year-old winger should have plenty of opportunities to produce as long as he continues to skate in the same line as Nathan MacKinnon. Lehkonen has been productive with 42 points (19 goals, 23 assists) in 55 contests so far this season.
Mackenzie Blackwood : Solid display in win Wednesday
Blackwood stopped 23 of 25 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Sharks. Blackwood will enter the Olympic break on a high note following this win, and even though his recent record is subpar, it seems the 29-year-old is turning things around. Despite going 3-4-0 over his last seven starts, Blackwood has allowed two or fewer goals in four of his last five appearances while posting a 1.42 GAA and a .947 save percentage over that stretch.
Mackenzie Blackwood : Slated to start Wednesday
Blackwood is slated to start Wednesday's home game against the Sharks, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports. Blackwood has alternated wins and losses over his last five starts, going 2-3-0 with a 2.26 GAA and .912 save percentage during that time. However, he's coming off a pair of dominant starts against the Red Wings in which he allowed just one goal on 52 shots (.981 save percentage) despite his 1-1-0 record. Blackwood made a pair of starts against the Sharks in November, including one at home and one on the road, and he went 1-0-1 with a 1.48 GAA and .939 save percentage.
Martin Necas : Won’t play Wednesday
Necas (lower body) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Sharks, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports. Necas continues to deal with a lower-body injury and will be sidelined for a third consecutive game heading into the Olympic break. He's on the roster for Czechia for the upcoming Olympics, and he's expected to be good to go for the tournament, Bailey Curtis of DNVR Sports reports. Valeri Nichushkin should continue to see an increased role for the Avalanche during Wednesday's matchup.
