Decking The Halls (Part 1)

"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" And no wonder, who doesn't like to decorate, shop, wrap presents, bake and sit by a warm fire with hot chocolate in hand?! This year I am a little bit more Suzy homemaker than normal. Maybe it's the new house and extra space or maybe my creative juices (a.k.a. hormones) are flowing, but all of our decorations are up! This year I even decided to make my own wreath. Here's how it went (sorry for all of the pictures that follow, but it was the only way to illustrate the process).

Started with a plain wreath on sale from Hobby Lobby $12.50

Added various accessories (also on sale) for $25
Pine cones

Silver picks

Silver flowers

Maroon Hydrangeas

And smaller maroon garnish

A repurposed sign from an old gift that had fallen apart

Added a few finishing touches (ribbon and ornament balls)

And... Tada! (All for under $40)

Then I moved on to the Christmas Tree!

The Stockings!

And finally, our miniature tree (which Dusty thinks is his)

What about you guys? Are you in the Christmas spirit yet? How are you decking your halls this year? Stay tuned for some more holiday hoopla (trying not to overload you with the longest post ever!). I just love this time of the year!

20 Weeks! (At last)

After letting the whole world know first, I can finally blog about our 20 week appointment.

The big reveal was quite delayed. The majority of people according to various polls had predicted a baby girl. If you remember my previous blog post, I actually assumed the opposite of the majority would be true. And low and behold, IT's A BOY! Baby boy was bashful and after 20 minutes of trying to get him to spread his legs for a peek, he finally gave us the goods for only a split second! Our tech was 100 percent certain he was all boy. Everything looked normal. He weighed in at 11 ounces, 11 inches and had a heart rate of 158 beats per minute. Mom and Dad are soo excited to be having a son! An added plus, the Carr name will not end with Chris either, pretty exciting for his family.

Meanwhile, here is my progress:

•Overall weight gain=5 lbs. Not too bad for 20 weeks, but still a little shocking.
•Blood pressure 110 over 77.
•Next appointment in 4weeks, Monday, December 20th.

Weekly Gratitude

I am grateful this week for ...
  • We do have oranges after all! They look a lot more orange and not so yellow in person.

  • My health. Feeling blessed for not being sick when everyone around me seems to be.
  • Lots and lots of energy and the urge to clean everything!
  • One of my best friends getting engaged. Wohoo so happy for you girl! Ha and you said you would never get married. ;)
  • Only one short weekend left before we see our sweet little angel again! Yay for Monday.

I acknowledge that I take these things for granted each and every day and am fully aware that there are many people in this world that do not share my same gratitudes from which God has given me happiness. What are you grateful for today? Much, I am sure!

And so it begins!

With our big appointment on Monday, and this new milestone we are about to reach, it is crazy to think that this time next week I will be talking to my little boy or little girl! I can't believe it is going by so fast. I can't wait to name our baby and start the nursery. Since we are almost 5 months along, Baby C is starting to get some really great loot already.

Thank you Aunt Stacy
(Baby C is already humming along to the Aggie Warhymn!)

Thank you Kendy
(Gig 'Em Ags!)

My First Buy! (got it on sale for $9.95- be jealous!)

And a look at our nursery floor plan idea thus far:
Yes you read that right, this room is 16' by 14 1/2' .
Seems like a blessing and yet a curse to have such a large space.

Counting down... only 5 days left!

Weekly Gratitude (An Illustrative Version)

I am grateful this week (and last week, oops I missed one!) for ...
  • Our blood work came back normal from the Quad Test.
 I'm relieved!

  • A peek at my birthday present! Can't wait to use it... hint: It is made by Canon. :)

  • Nesting. It is most definitely serving its purpose of calming my nerves and keeping me busy. Check out what I did with our "catch-all" closet and future nursery closet. I am still patting my own back over this one. It took me months of courage building to tackle this task.

  • A plethora of Halloween visitors (we ran out of candy in the 1st hour- yowzers!) but only one qualified for the Carr special treatment, cutest skeleton ever! See more pictures of Dean in his costume here.

  • Finally being caught up on all of my reading, and yes it was a lot. Here is a look at our coffee table at the moment.

I acknowledge that I take these things for granted each and every day and am fully aware that there are many people in this world that do not share my same gratitudes from which God has given me happiness. What are you grateful for today? Much, I am sure!

Stay tuned... Project Nursery will soon be underway!

So Santa's not REAL?

Since I have been searching high and low for "THE" name for our child, I have stumbled across some really interesting websites and name lists. Among the many was a compiled list of real celebrity names, as in the ones we know them by are FAKE. Okay, so I knew MC Hammer was not a real name, but some of these really surprised me. I have included just a few to rattle your brain, but if you want to see the full list, which is quite long, go here. I feel like I just woke up on Christmas morning and caught my dad putting gifts from Santa under the tree, so deceived... My favorite transformation is Elton John, which one's yours?

It's A . . . ?

No surprises here, I am having a hard time waiting to find out Baby C's gender, especially since someone new asks me every day when I will be finding out (not for 3 more weeks!). Needless to say I am trying to find out without actually finding out, if that makes sense. :) I figure whatever the majority of people say it must be the opposite, yes I know my thinking is a little skewed these days. So far the doctor, our friend Mark, and Chris's grandpa have predicted boy. The majority of my work pool (winning by 1) and our friend Sarah have predicted girl. After taking 3 different online quizzes (with some very strange questions I might add), the internet said we are having:

And....

And...

So it looks like the internet majority has predicted a girl. That leaves me at a tie. Only solution was to start another poll... can you tell I am dying to know here? A friend even suggested that I go have an ultrasound at the vet (one of my best friend's dad is the vet).... haha. Okay I won't go that far and seriously I can wait, but I am uber curious what everyone else thinks so take the poll please! It's on the right sidebar.
