Buggy

So Im not really into bugs. I usually am more of the run away and scream type rather than the stand and observe. But Dom is definitely not the same. He is infatuated with the bugs of America.
Bumble bees. What crazy creatures. So BIG and fuzzy with yellow and black stripes like a mini yellow zebra’s coat. And since they are so large you would think they would be ferocious and sting, but they dont. They just “bumble” along sniffing flowers.
Mosquitos. We were chatting with one of our friends who grew up in the Philippines the other day and he and Dom were discussing the difference between Asian mosquitos and American ones. In Asia the mosquitos are so quick and lithe. You try to slap them and they zip away like they were never there. In America if a mosquito lands on your arm you can lift your hand up in super slow motion la la la way and get it with your first swat. The boys think its cuz they are fatter than the Asian bugs and so greedy for blood they don’t move as fast.
Spiders. Most of all Dom loves the spiders here. He says they are so colorful: yellow, and red, not just brown or black like in Thailand. And they are tough. Whenever he tries to bother them with a twig he finds in the forest they grab it and hold on tight and try to fight him like a warrior. But the spiders in Thailand when he plays with them with a stick, just run away and dont fight back.
Are our bugs an analogy of our cultures? Dom thought so…go ahead and think about it..Hmm..
