And that’s where we’re going to leave it, because if you just watched that last video, then you’re not too happy with me. Probably no videos for the next few days. Talk Soon Cecelia
Starting with This Weekend’s News & Maybe the Best News of All? Trump’s 100-Say Approval Rating at Historic Low, New Polls Reveal “A CNN poll released Sunday showed that just 39% of Americans approve of how Trump has steered the economy, the lowest of his two terms in the White House. An NBC News poll showed tariffs were also deeply unpopular, with just 39% of respondents agreeing with Trump’s tariffs rollout.” (Mario Parker, Bloomberg News)
IMF-World Bank meetings end with little tariff clarity, but economic foreboding Washington: Global finance leaders came to Washington this past week seeking clarity on what it would take to get some relief from President Donald Trump’s multi-layered tariff assault and on just how much pain it will bring to the world economy. Most headed home with more questions than answers.
White House journalists use annual press dinner to celebrate First Amendment“We care deeply about accuracy and take seriously the heavy responsibility of being stewards of the public’s trust,” Daniels said at the event. “What we are not is the opposition. What we are not is the enemy of the people. And what we are not is the enemy of the state.” (By: Hanna Panreck, Fox News)
Russia detains ‘Ukrainian agent’ over general’s car bomb killing near Moscow, Russian state media report “Russian security forces say they have detained a Ukrainian spy accused of killing a senior Russian general in a car bomb attack in Moscow’s suburbs on Friday. The FSB secret service said they had apprehended “Ukrainian special services agent Ignat Kuzi” who had “planted explosives in a Volkswagen Golf” to kill Gen Yaroslav Moskalik.” (Frances Mao, BBC)
It’s so important to withhold your pennies, my friends.
We’ve officially reached the General Mills stop on the Economic Blackout Tour—and I can guarantee there are plenty of things on that list for you to NOT buy.
PLEASE REMEMBER: We are still boycotting Target, Walmart, and Amazon whenever possible.
Your best alternatives?
Aldi
Kroger
Costco
Local businesses whenever you can!
Pro tip: You can still use Amazon as a search engine—find what you need, then go straight to the distributor’s site to buy it. Cut Amazon out of the process completely.
I know this is difficult, y’all — cutting things out of your purchases is time consuming; which is why we’re trying to do it little by little. We’re also trying to look at it in a couple different ways, saving money, or an investment in your future – because that’s exactly what it is.
Another thing is, if you’re unable to make it out to protests, this is a way to support the RESISTANCE!
First, let me extend my heartfelt condolences to anyone mourning the loss of Pope Francis – he was a beloved man who brought the world together many times under a message of love & acceptance.
Also, my prayers are with the families/friends involved down in Florida. It is incumbent upon all of us to call our Congresspeople & Senators – every day, no matter which state we live in & make certain to mention the RIFL Act in ILLINOIS (HB3320) & ask that they SPONSOR it!!! (The RIFL Act will establish an accountability fund for the weapons manufacturers that will be similar to Worker’s Compensation).
And to everyone else, for the current state of affairs in my country, many of us are deeply concerned about what’s happening, and I want you to know that we do not all support the developments in D.C. & we’re doing what we can to legally stop them.
If you’re new to my blog, welcome! I’m Cecelia, and each week, I’ll strive to provide you with a rundown of the news. Things are moving rapidly, and there’s a lot to keep up with, but I’ll do my best to keep you informed.
Let’s see what we can uncover together.
Feel free to let me know if you’d like further adjustments or if there’s a specific tone you’re aiming for!
We’ll start with some good news to prepare you… ICYMI: US Senator (of the month) Van Hollen says he met wrongly deported man in El Salvador , “Van Hollen said his main goal while in El Salvador was to meet with Abrego Garcia face-to-face. On Thursday night, Van Hollen confirmed the opportunity finally came, posting a photo of the meeting and promising a “full update” upon his return to the U.S.” (Amy Lu, Washington Bureau Reporter)
SCOTUS orders 47 regime not to deport Venezuelans under Alien Enemies Act for now per the AP, “The high court acted in an emergency appeal from the American Civil Liberties Union contending that immigration authorities appeared to be moving to restart removals under the Alien Enemies Act of 1798. The Supreme Court had said earlier in April that deportations could proceed only if those about to be removed had a chance to argue their case in court and were given “a reasonable time” to contest their pending removals.”
And that’s the end of our good news segment for the time being (until the “Decent News” at the end of this Newsletter to send you off on a ‘decent’ note). Before I share the next article I will say that I don’t believe we’re doing enough to support our young men. (I don’t think we’re doing enough to support our young women either, but that’s another topic for another day). The toxic Manosphere is a reality that we, the Left, must address & soon — we need to figure out how to combat or at least understand where they’re coming from, maybe that will be the first step.
Andrew Tate was referenced by a number of teachers who took part in the survey, who said he had negative influence on male pupils.
Andrew Tate charges men for his online “university” called Hustlers University (later rebranded The Real World)
One teacher said she’d had 10-year-old boys “refuse to speak to [her]…because [she is] a woman”.
Another teacher said “the Andrew Tate phenomena had a huge impact on how [pupils at an all-boys school] interacted with females and males they did not see as ‘masculine'”.
Gallup Poll Shows Decline in Public Confidence in Congressional Democrats — basically, Sen. Chuck Schumer, dude, you’re NOT DOING ENOUGH! Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, man, you’re NOT DOING ENOUGH! Take a page from of your contemporaries — learn from those like Sen. Van Hollen or Rep. Cory Booker, OR if you cannot LEAD then STEP ASIDE!!
GENTLEMEN & LADIES of the CONGRESS, THE TIME IS NOW. WE NEED LEADERS WHO WILL LEAD. If you are not those people, you must step aside & make room for those who are willing & able to make the sacrifices needed in the time we find ourselves.
Recently we have seen members of Congress come out openly & say that they “all afraid”.
Strollers & other baby products will get more expensive — and harder to find — with tariffs — (AP) An estimated 90% of the core baby care products and the parts that go into making baby paraphernalia — from bottles and diaper pails to strollers and car seats — are made in Asia, according to the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association, a U.S. trade group. The vast majority come from China.
There are reports from Kherson of buildings being hit by Russian drones.
Martin Niemöller, “First They Came”
Updating First They Came — “There is now another version playing out in America today. Slightly different in form but certainly the same in spirit & substance.”
First they came for the aliens who were here illegally, & I did not speak out — Because I was not here illegally.
Then they came for the aliens here legally, and I did not speak out — Because I was not an alien.
Then they came for the citizens who were naturalized, and I did not speak out — Because I was a native born citizen.
Then they came for the natural born citizens — and there was no one left to speak for me.
DECENT NEWS to end the day— Marijuana holiday 4/20 coincides with Easter and Passover this year. Here’s what to know: (per the AP) Marijuana culture’s high holiday, known as 4/20, falls this year on Easter Sunday, as well as the last day of Passover, meaning cannabis fans can celebrate in some unusual ways, including an “Easter nug hunt” in Los Angeles, kosher-style THC gummies in New York and a “blaze and praise” drag brunch in Portland, Oregon.
“It seemed appropriate with egg prices today that we’d be searching for something else,” said Brett Davis, who runs the marijuana tour company Weed Bus Los Angeles and organized the “Easter nug hunt.”
Amazon and Walmart are undergoing national expansions in same-day prescription deliveries. They’re joining a trend that has gained momentum since the COVID-19 pandemic, with drugstore chains and companies like Instacart and DoorDash rushing to deliver prescriptions as soon as possible.
In future I will do better at separating US News & World News – getting organized is a process that I will one day get through (hahahahahahahahahaha). As for me, I need to rest; the protest & demonstration that I helped organize in THREE DAYS really took it out of me! But it was so worth it & just so much fun!
Alright, y’all— I just finished my first official newsletter. Sound off in the comments!
Tell me what fired you up, what fell flat, and what you want more of. This whole mess is moving to Substack soon, and I’m not sure how clean the jump will be — so speak now or forever hold your peace (or at least your feedback).
You can hit me up anytime at:
Alice1sAngry@proton.me or EasternILIndivisible@proton.me
Also don’t forget about Blue.Wing.Things to do in case of COUP! I’d greatly appreciate your follow on YouTube as well.
Hope your weekend was safe — but not too quiet. You’ll hear from me again very soon.
This Thursday, 4PM CST, I’ll be at Eastern Illinois University (Physical Science Building) for a Town Hall with Congresswoman Robin Kelly. Bring your questions.
In Solidarity, Always.

Post Script: I am a member of the Leguminati 🫘 & if you want a good source of daily news, I highly recommend The Daily Beans & you can support them, submit a correction, self-shoutout, or any of a myriad of other actions here.
Hey y’all. Thanks so much for your patience. This transition has been very hectic & not at all easy, especially with the bird invasion into the siding of my house. 🙄 🐣 It has all been a very interesting, horrific, terrifying challenge that I would not wish upon most people; the times, they are unprecedented. The local company will not help me since we disagreed that the Black Lives Matter protesters were not terrorist groups. Allow me to clarify for those in the back — THE BLM PROTESTS & PROTESTERS WERE NOT TERRORIST GROUPS OR ORGANIZATIONS.
Currently my goal is to publish a newsletter on Mondays, maybe Tuesdays; (depends on how busy the weekend is, if there’s an event). I am also beginning a Substack, hopefully, as soon as I have time to get organized (haha *sigh*). [If you don’t get my sly dig at myself there, I’m currently a grassroots organizer for Indivisible!]
This weekend I do have an event — so it is a busy weekend!
Charleston, IL • Morton Park • Demonstration & Rally
Oh my gosh! That was so much fun! Cannot wait to do it again — but now I need a nap. I’ll post a full rundown tomorrow.
Well, it’s so interesting that you ask this question at this moment in our history, dear Questioner, because it feels as though the regime in power is dragging us backward—back to a time when segregation was legal… and now, it’s legal again.
I remember something I learned in high school that truly broke my heart: the state I lived in at the time, Missouri, had been a slave state. I was a freshman, new to the area, and I recall sitting in class realizing—slowly, painfully—that many of the people around me may have never seen a Black person in real life.
It took a few weeks before I fully grasped that. The only students who regularly interacted with people of color were athletes, or people like me who traveled for speech and debate tournaments. Maybe the band kids, too—anyone who left town to compete, perform, or see the outside world.
I had moved from Phoenix, Arizona, to a lily-white town in southwest Missouri in the early ’90s. The culture shock was extreme. It was painful. And it left a mark.
America Must Change Time Cover by: Painting by Charly Palmer
Going back to that freshman year, learning for the first time that Missouri had been a slave state—I remember how horrified I felt to be living there. I was sitting in my seat, tears silently slipping down my cheeks, when Mr. Garrett noticed and came over to check on me. I was just heartbroken.
Later, I read that Missouri had eventually joined the Union, and that gave me a little hope—that people, and places, can change.
I am not an economist, but I did pay attention to Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986). I know that tariffs are a tax on the consumer and during his iconic lecture, which straight up gives me flashbacks to my own Econ professor Mr. Garrett every time I see it; Ben Stein’s economics teacher performance delivers a hilariously dry and monotone lecture about the Great Depression, focusing on how the Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act worsened the economic downturn by raising tariffs and reducing international trade.
He repeatedly asks the class questions like “Anyone? Anyone?” only to be met with complete silence, emphasizing the students’ boredom and apathy.
Just as we continue to ask our MAGA neighbors, “Is anyone paying attention? Anyone? Anyone?”
Bueller… Bueller… Bueller….
Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act by Granger Historical Pictures
I’m sure that if you were paying attention, you probably noticed the Market Manipulation going on. Our ‘president’ literally said, “Now’s a good time to buy” & then he called off nearly all of the tariffs.
Meanwhile, if you do business in Europe, they’re ready for this mess with retaliatory tariffs.
And now, all of this is totally illegal & completely screwing over the lower 99%. It is fabulous for the Billionaires & horrid for EVERYONE ELSE. Senator Elizabeth Warren discusses it with Brian Tyler Cohen & their insidious plan to takeover our country & ruin our Democracy.
And, an amazing YouTube creator TabithaSpeaksPolitics discusses how this affects small businesses in a classic FAFO moment you’ll need to gather your coffee & popcorn before enjoying… because don’t forget about China!
And finally, Aaron Rupar & David Nir do an excellent job of explaining what’s happening, even though they’re not economists (because you don’t have to be a f^ckin’ economist to explain what’s happening right now).
Hi y’all. I know everything has been going by very fast. If you’re looking for my April Celebrate Everyday, you can find it in days, weeks, months, oh my; they don’t change much year to year.
As for me, I’ve been busy setting up the Eastern Illinois Indivisible chapter. Yesterday we joined over 3.5 million people nationwide & more so worldwide in a protest of what the trump/musk regime is doing to the U.S.A. & the world.
50501 – from the fiftyfiftyone community on Reddit
There was a protest in every single state, multiple cities, towns, villages… people are pissed. Rough estimates place it at just over 3.5 million people in the United States, all peacefully protesting. I will be writing more about this in the near future, but right now I must rest; I am so very, very tired.
If you’re interested in future #teslatakedowns — ⬅️this would be the place.
An Executive Order Tracker — guess we need to get our handy dandy p25 tracker too.
And don’t forget the Serial Killer looking over our shoulder… the Project 2025 observer. (Where you can watch them in real time dismantle our Democracy, all 250 years gone in no time at all).
Saturday, April 5th Protest – find one in your area!
There will be a MASS MOBILIZATION PROTEST throughout our nation focusing in Washington D.C. at the HandsØff/People’s Veto Day Protest. Are you upset at what you see happening in our government? Angry that prices of everything continue to rise? That the cost of living is going to double this year & our president is gleeful about it? It’s time to get in the streets & mobilize – protest! MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!!!
👉🏻IN CHICAGO
They are attacking Medicaid – attempting to take medical coverage from children & the elderly. They are attacking Social Security; which is the safety net set up over eighty years ago that you & your parents & your grandparents have been paying into your entire lives. They are taking federal jobs for no reason – they’re not creating efficiency, they’re doing the exact opposite actually. This regime wants to take away our rights to ALL of our bodies. They want to take away our FAIR ELECTIONS. They want to SILENCE YOUR SPEECH. They want to ERASE YOUR EXISTENCE.
They are STEALING your PERSONAL INFORMATION & profiting from it. They want to sell our PUBLIC LANDS & clear cut them — which is the most destructive form of clearing. They have gutted VETERANS SERVICES, CANCER RESEARCH, CONSUMER PROTECTIONS, ALL ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTIONS, funding for schools, libraries, & museums forcing them to shutter their doors.
🚨THIS EFFECTS EVERYONE. Every single person in this country, save the 1%. 👉🏻 Every single person should show up at a rally on April 5th!
