April

Kolby is typically the center of attention and getting lots of love. Claire got this huge stuffed puppy and they had him propped on it. I used it again while they were at school for him to sleep on while I exercised. Now and then Grandma stops by to see us and hold Kolby even though the restrictions still are against having visiting indoors.

We did the first mow of the year at mom and dad's house then enjoyed horse riding and supper together.

Activity Days have finally started again in groups of 10 or less outdoors. Rod and Debbie Beazer are Rylan's leaders and they had a fun bonfire at the Beazer's house. Rylan went with Dean Ellingson, Walden Payne, Ben Nichols, and Huntley Redford.

Easter was on General Conference Sunday this year. How we loved watching General Conference and being spiritually fed. Sometimes I wonder how the kids are liking it and how much they are hearing so it was so nice to see Brooklyn's journal entry after conference. Kent and Henrik joined us for the last session, supper, and visiting. We looked at some pictures of Kent's mom, Gerd, while he told of his memories of her as she would have been 100 years old this month. She is the girl on the right in the picture below.

Hakon doesn't get Kolby to sleep on him very often so this was a special night for that.

Claire drew the Cardston Temple and finally found her mini eggs from our Easter Egg hunt days later. I hid them very well with Fredriksen.

Kristyn and I took all our kids to Jefferson to see the baby calves and play with Jen's kids. We had a really nice time together welcoming spring!

I ordered a canvas of this picture I took at my parent's property a few years ago. I love this picture so much and I love the feeling of that place. I've thought of it often since Kolby was born because it is a beautiful sunset and I think of Kolby as my sunset baby. I want to enjoy these beautiful lasts with my baby instead of just being sad that I will likely not have any more kids. He is my beautiful sunset baby.

Brooklyn and Claire are in dance class in Mountain View with Stephanie Uibel. It took a tremendous amount of asking and dreaming about this for me to sign them up. I'm so glad I did. They love it so much and are doing so well.

Hakon is creating his long awaited wood office. I'm glad he is making it happen.

Hakon took Henrik and our four oldest kids for one last ski of the season. Unfortunately, it was cut short when Brooklyn sprained her knee. It was swollen and painful. We felt so bad for her. She got to use crutches for a couple days and went to see Robyn at physio a week later to be sure she was on the mend. She has done well with her exercises.

Brooklyn sometimes FaceTimes with Cambree. We hope the border opens so we can see our American family soon. Maryn came upstairs in her Monster PJs with monster hair. It was the perfect match. She wakes up from bad dreams so often. Usually more than once a night. It is getting very difficult for the whole family so we hope it will be resolved soon.

Maryn played with Heidi one morning while Holly helped at the school.

Brooklyn had Elinor Johnson over and had a fun game of Pie Face.

Many mornings when Hakon gets up I'm already out of the bed and feeding Kolby. I usually come back to the room to find the bed made like this. I think it is such a nice way for him to show me that he values my sleep and also wants to help keep the house tidy. He is the best. Each morning he reads scriptures and uses For the Strength of Youth to study Norwegian. Sometimes he takes care of Kolby at the same time.

Maryn followed instructions on Art for Kids Hub to draw this girl. She is improving so much.

Kolby is laying on a blanket my mom made for him to have in his crib. It is so nice.

We tried some of Rylan's old glasses frames on Kolby. We thought he looked so funny! Maryn was so excited to receive a sucker until she saw it was broken, then the tears and crying began. Hakon found great humour in it.

Jenni-Rae makes youtube singing time videos for her primary children and we use them too. Here they did sign language while singing.

Great-Grandma Bevans made this quilt for Kolby. Maryn uses it and his toys too. Kolby is finding his hands and feet so much now!

Hakon took the day off work to go with me, Maryn, and Kolby to GreenHaven in Lethbridge and buy plants for our garden beds. It took quite awhile for me to decide and he was so kind to take care of the kids and then discuss my choices. We came home and he continued to help with the kids so I could plant. What fun! I'm finally having my own flowerbed!

Hakon is just so sweet with these kids of ours. He gives them so much time and attention. He is helping the boys with building up clients for lawn mowing and more. They recruited me to do some advertising and I think it is going to pay off.
