Gaslit

I point out my pain
No sorries for being wrong
It is all my fault
Downcast for rocking the boat
And increasing your worries
My bad attitude
Put me on the back burner
Waiting for your time
But you rarely say the words
That are written on greetings
Love makes my heart leap
But your actions seal the deal
They keep me in place
Holding on for all I’m worth
To the one I love the most
You know I will wait
For you are a part of me
Yet pieces of you
Have become unfamiliar
And I know not why or how
When I want you near
I wander inside a maze
Filled with confusion
Trying so hard to find you
Crying for you to return

Gentle Journey

Old girl
You wander through the trees
In some verdant wood
Far away so far
And in my mind I listen
So earnestly for you
I hear no sound
Yet there abounds
Sweet visions in my mind
Of journeys
That unwind
Especially for me
You knew your silent plea
To come follow
Would be heard
Without a single word
As ever

Third Wheel

You’re so quiet when I’m with you
It’s suffocating in the room
As you whisper in his ear
You speak so low that I can’t hear
And I assume you don’t want me to
Or you’re attempting to be rude
It must be weighing on your mind
That I’m interfering with your time
Perhaps you think I still can’t hear
Your avoidance ringing crystal clear
From the look I see upon your face
You’d rather I was anyplace but here

Careless
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” ~Proverbs
I lost my mind today while the Saints shook their heads
I could feel their disapproval yet I purged my soul and bled
All these years of trying turned to rust upon my tongue
Its cold metallic taste dripped anger ’round the room
In an instant all the love that I had gained turned away
Leaving me a stranger devoid of words to say
Laid bare before myself face down before his throne
Ashamed of what I am and so ready to go home
I stabbed the one I love the most right in the heart today
Rather than being kind I had such ugly things to say
Why do we hurt those close to us such undeserving fools
We brush away like cookie crumbs the love of trusting souls
Then wonder why we sit and cry feeling we went unheard
With so much power inside a tongue so careless with its words

Apart

The only thing missed
Was mere physicality
You’ve felt everything else
Deepest pieces of me
Those that live on
Far past this earthly flesh

Soul Touch

Bodies need not touch
For hearts to skip a beat
I reached out for you
And ever softly you touched me
Transcending time and distance
A rose that never dies
Lent us its sweet fragrance
To linger for all time
Proving us immortal
A thousand lifetimes through
For you are near my side
And darling I with you
When dawns the golden sun
And glows the glorious moon
I feel you close to me
In everything I do
I have found my greatest love
A feeling so intense
And I will never know
Another as immense
For I this lowly plain
Have kissed the sacred sun
Long before the day I die
Before my days were done
The splendor that I feel
Remains within my view
Each time you think of me
And when I think of you

Too Much or Not at All

You say I talk too much
But that I make you feel good
I can’t understand
Why you make such great demands
You’d never want a wife
Or someone there beside you
Yet when you feel alone
You ask me to come home
Too much or not at all
I’m not allowed to call you
Yet I belong to you
With all that you put me through
I’d rather stay away
Than let you make me feel bad
Because my self confidence
Is worth more than your two cents
Too much or not at all
I’d rather take the fall
By letting go of you
What else am I to do
I need to walk away
I’ve nothing left to tell you
Too much pain to touch again
No you were not my friend
Not at all

My Place in Time

I return now to that place
Where I may reacquaint
With unrequited dreams
Wherein that one sweet face
Resides where I have traced
A seal upon my heart
As memory for he
Whose love was meant for me
But given to another by mistake
If for mercy’s sake
Time turns its hands again
Where I might meet with him
Upon another plain
Then as a bird I’d fly
Into another sky
Where I would gladly die
To swoop into its depths
If time would answer yes
There is a place in time
This time for me

Spanish Eyes

He held me on his toes and waltzed me ’round the room
Then kissed my tiny feet with a brush of his perfume
Singing, “Spanish Eyes”, a song for only me
I see his face in dreams smiling happily
As if to let me know that families never end
And that somewhere in time we all will meet again

A Good Man
When I think about the price I pay
For digging up my yesterdays
They’ve made me push the love away
From such a good man
Broken promises inside the dark
And filthy hands have left a mark
That will never fade away
I could let it go today
With hands that are a healing balm
That caress me down, make me calm
Hands that plan to do no harm
Are yours the hands
Of a good man
A righteous man who loves the Lord
Would do no harm; he can’t afford
The price he’d have to pay
I need a man who feels this way
So, before you hold me in the night
Convince me I won’t be alright
With the price I’d have to pay
If I push the love away
From a good man
