Life at the Keever House

Well, Daddy attempted to baby-proof today...after Wyatt got sick of his new padded pen, Buck decided to try it out...

I'd like to send a belated happy 80th birthday out to my papa! It was on January 15th, and the weekend following his actual birthday, we headed down to Astor, Florida to surprise him. He had no idea that the entire family was planning to be there and the look on his face was priceless! Hopefully we can get back down to the river once it warms up and Wyatt can spend some time where his mommy spent so many summer days.

This morning, Wyatt and I were playing in the living room while Josh caught a few extra z's...so Wyatt was on his tummy playing, then he was up on his hands and knees...and when I turned around again, this was what I saw:



My little boy is getting so big! It's hard to believe he's six months old already!

So we've started Wyatt on rice cereal...which is the funniest and most frustrating thing I have experienced as a mother to date. When we first started it was completely ridiculous...I'd shovel it in, and Wyatt would spit it out. We did this for about a week (prior to the holidays) before I gave up for a while. I figured it wouldn't be easy to deal with rice cereal, and a child who didn't have the hang of it, while out of town anyway. So now we're home and settled and we've picked it up again. The little man is finally figuring out how to swallow it, but still manages to make a huge mess. I'm not sure that there is a clean, neat way to feed an infant. I'll probably start spreading newspapers out underneath him to protect the floors...but then again, it could still get on the walls. Too bad they don't make a giant plastic tent to put around kids while they eat.





And there's just one more picture I wanted to share...Wyatt loves his daddy and loves to sit with Josh while he's working on the computer. So Wyatt was sitting with Josh and Josh was talking to Wyatt when I caught this moment. It just melts my heart...

For his first Christmas, Wyatt got a brand new crib. Josh put it together last night and Wyatt slept in it all night long. I was a little concerned that it would take him some time to get used to it, since it's so much bigger than what he has been sleeping in--but he did great. In fact, I think he really loves it...

Christmas vacation is finally over and we've made it home to Montgomery. It was a nice long vacation spent with family and friends. We had a blast and we had a lot of firsts, including Wyatt's first tooth and Wyatt's first encounter with snow. We left Montgomery on December 21st and headed to Birmingham, where we spent Christmas with my family. December 26th we made the 10+ hour drive to Ohio to spend New Years with the Keever side of the family. Then we finally drove home yesterday...needless to say, we're a bit worn out. Anyway, here are some pictures from our adventures over the last two weeks...hope you all had a wonderful holiday that was full of joy.
