Well, lots of changes still going on in my life but thank goodness for knitting mojo! Don’t know if I would survive without it. Still working on Tony’s sweater, but had to take a break to knit up this amazing doll pattern.
I am naming it the Kimmie doll because this is how I wish I looked in real life – healthy, with a smile on my face, and tons of long, thick hair. 🙂 I ams so tempted to make a gang of friends, but I know I will run out of room for them! This is a fun and easy pattern to knit, and a great stash buster.
The pattern is free and can be found here.
These are notes from my project page on Ravelry, in case you decide to make your own knitted doll:
Used a variety of yarns already in my stash. I went up a needle size (US Size 5) for the face, body parts. Used a mauve pink for the shirt, and a variegated yarn for the hair. Added plastic pellet base as instructed. And, used an old plastic dpn to add structure and stability to the head, neck, body.
Hair:
You need the most yarn for the hair. I used almost an entire skein of yummy yarn that was tangled. It was much easier to just cut it up than to unwind it. LOL.
I made the back of the hair from the Shelby doll, knitting 30 rows instead of 26, before binding off and attaching. Then I added the long strands of yarn onto that backing, more similar to the Maggie doll.
Legs:
Used three colors for the legs. Started with 7 rows Color A (off white), then worked alternating colors, 4 rounds each. Ended with 5 rows of Color A (off white), at Row 72, before switching to a solid color or the foot.
Eyes:
They are doll eyes (safety eyes) that I purchased at JoAnn’s Fabric store. Very easy to put in and much easier than embroidery.
Embroidery of Mouth, Eyebrows:
Using the stem stitch. Tutorial at the link below:

The Clothes:
The outfit was for an 18 inch doll. It fits perfectly.
