Cakes almost too good to eat

It’s my hubby’s birthday month which means a visit to Harwoods Patisserie. Inspired by the unique autumnal cake designs I combined autumn ephemera and recycled the cake boxes to create this unique art journal page (smile!).

In this heartwarming art journaling tribute, I’m celebrating the whimsical world of mushroom and pumpkin cakes through mixed media art.

https://youtube.com/shorts/rrIdtS0b7_M

This video takes you on my creative journey and shows my step-by-step approach as I explore the world of art and craft to capture these amazingly designed cakes.

The mixed media that I used to create this page was card stock, recycled patisserie cake boxes, outline border stickers, autumn ephemera, Crafter’s Companion glue tape and Stix2 double sided foam tape.

Here’s the yummy cakes with the cake boxes, that I recycled for my page, from Harwoods Patisserie, which were:

  • Pear and Caramelised White Chocolate Mushroom- cinnamon poached pear with white chocolate mousse on a digestive biscuit base.
  • Pumpkin – pumpkin seed praline mousse, parkin cake with a caramel centre.
  • The mini cakes from left to right were Treacle Tart, Pumpkin and Orange Delice.

Harwoods Patisserie offers a different cake selection to match the season and they are so delicious!

Stay safe and well! x

Sirmione by Boat

Today it’s all about Sirmione, Italy, with my page being created in my A6 journal which I bought there along with the postcard that I used and also the gift bag they came in. I also upcycled our boat tickets from Desenzano to Sirmione too (smile!).

To see how it all came together, please check out my YouTube video below.

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m joining in the fun with my page as it features an Italian coffee surrounded by coffee beans, did you spot them? (on the bottom left-hand-side) – wishing Bleubeard & Elizabeth and everyone a very Happy T Day!

https://youtube.com/shorts/-BCoPvVgucE

Join me on an artistic adventure as I transform a simple gift bag and  boat ticket into an unique art journal page, full of travel memories to Italy. From ticket to treasure, watch as I bring this page to life to capture the beauty of Sirmione, Lake Garda. Get ready to be inspired by the creative possibilities of upcycling and art journaling (smile!).

The mixed media that I used for this page is a blue dotty gift bag from Italy, UHU Stic, “Desenzano to Sirmione” boat tickets, a Sirmione postcard that we brought back from our holidays, Crafter’s Companion Glue Tape Pen and a black UniPin Fine Line marker.

Here we are departing from Desenzano with its view taken from the back of the boat as we make our way to Sirmione.

Scaligero Castle of Sirmione is a rare example of medieval port fortification. This fortress was built in the latter half of the 14th century on the southernmost part of Lake Garda in the Northern Italy. It take it name from the Della Scala family of Verona, who are known as the Scaligeri; this family ruled Verona and a large part of the Venetian area from the years 1259 to 1387.

Sirmione is such a beautiful place to explore with it’s old town, gardens, harbour, churches, lakeside walks and grottos.

We enjoyed so many happy boat trips and days exploring there!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Sweet Mallorca Memories

Today’s page captures our travel adventures to Mallorca and the yummy sweet treat, called ensaïmada, that we brought back with us. I had fun recycling the bakeries leaflet for this page.

Join me on my creative journey, in the video below, as I guide you through my artistic process whilst creating this art journal page, uncovering sweet memories of my trip to Mallorca!

https://youtube.com/shorts/0JWFcrwPeLE

From colourful inks to meaningful mementos, I’m excited to share with you how I documented my travels in a unique and artistic way (smile!).

The mixed media that I used was Distress Inks, Liquitex Matte Gel Medium, the bakery leaflets featuring the pastry that we bought back from Mallorca, Crafter’s Companion Glue Tape Pen, and a Travel sticker set.

The ensaïmada that we bought at the airport on our way home was very yummy! It’s a type of pastry native to Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain; made with strong flour, water, sugar, eggs, mother dough and a kind of reduced pork lard (called saïm in Catalan) giving the pastry it’s name.

From one sweet treat to another and as T Stands for Tuesday, here’s my cup of tea with a delicious cheesecake that we had in Mallorca – Happy T Day everyone!
