Christmas Reindeer Tag

As it’s the first Friday of December, it’s time for a new challenge over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, which is Anything Mixed Media Goes/ Optional Twist, something related to Christmas.

(Please be aware that next month, the design team will be on their end-of-year break, so there won’t be a challenge and that means we will be back in February 2026 with a new challenge).

I had so much fun creating this festive Christmas tag; I hope you like it too – sending you happy festive wishes (smile!).

The process and mixed media that I used to create my festive scene on this a chipboard tag were: I covered the tag with Tim Holtz Christmas Collage paper using Liquitex matte gel medium; when dry I coloured it using Distress Inks that I applied like watercolour; I added some check fabric washi tape by Tim Holtz to the bottom of the tag; I applied some Ranger Texture Paste using a palette knife through a Tim Holtz stencil to create the snowflakes; the deer was cut from mixed media paper using a Tim Holtz Thinlits Set and I coloured it using Distress Inks and a Faber-Castell marker; the “hidden among the snow-covered branches” wording was from a Tim Holtz Christmas sticker book; finally I splattered the whole tag using some white Liquitex acrylic Ink.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designers and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see you there!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Happy and creative festive wishes! x

Celebrating Arundel Castle’s Tulip Festival

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Going Round In Circles.

To join our circle challenge, here’s an art journal page that I created earlier this year to celebrate the beauty of Arundel Castle’s Tulip Festival (smile!).

Check out my video where I’ll be showcasing my artistic interpretation of the vibrant tulips and castle surroundings.

https://youtube.com/shorts/ad6Ku6f4GGU

In this video, get ready for a colourful and inspiring experience that combines art, nature, and history. From painting the tulips to stamping the castle’s architecture, I’ll take you through my artistic process and the mixed media that I used so we can celebrate the beauty of Arundel Castle’s Tulip Festival together!

For more inspiration, please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

We went to Arundel Castle’s Tulip Festival in April, this year, whilst visiting family, and we had such a fabulous time, all the tulip displays were so magical. It was hard to decide which tulip colours to include on my page, but red had to feature as you were greeted to a sway of red tulips surrounding the castle.

We entered the walled gardens and there were so many different displays to see, this one was breathtaking with the pretty yellows, pinks, peaches, purples and reds.

The pink tulips were inspired by these beautiful pots of flowers that surrounded the fountains and the gold accents, on my page, were inspired by the fountains themselves.

Everywhere we looked was stunning, I think it may have been the best gardens I’ve ever visited (smile!).

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Nature’s Magic

It’s the first Friday of the June, so it’s time for a new challenge over at the Creative Artiste Challenge Blog, which like every month is Anything Mixed Media Goes.

I couldn’t resist creating yet another page using my new Forest Paper Cuts from Stamperia. The process I followed to create this page is, more or less, the same as a previous post Forest Magic & Secrets art journal page, but this time I created a video so you can follow along (smile!).

In this video, I’ll be sharing my process of combining different mixed media to celebrate the beauty of nature and spark your imagination. Here’s the link to my YouTube channel Let’s Art Journal so, if you wish, you can Like this video and Subscribe to my channel.

Today’s mixed media page captures nature’s beauty and was inspired by the magic of Stamperia! From lush greenery to delicate bird’s nests, I’ll show you how to bring this magical world to life on your art journal page.

The mixed media that I used for this page was Stamperia Forest 12×12 paper pad, Crafter’s Companion Glue Tape Pen, Faber-Castell Dual Tip marker, Stamperia Forest Paper Cuts, Spectrum Noir TriBlend marker, Liquitex Matte Gel Medium, Stix2 double-sided foam pads, Sizzix Garden Greens Thinlits by Tim Holtz, Tim Holtz Kraft Cardstock, Stamperia Cosmos paper pad, and Liquitex acrylic ink.

For more inspiration please check out the amazing creations from our Guest Designers and my fellow Design Team members over at Creative Artiste too. All you need to do is to use three different mediums on your projects to join our mixed media challenge; I hope you are inspired to join us, it would be lovely to see you there!

Whilst visiting family earlier this year, we went to Warnham Nature Reserve where we heard and saw the Great Tit (Parus major) birds, that are on my page, singing in the trees along the woodland path as we first entered the reserve.

Here’s what they sound like:

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Adventures Await

Adventures await at Lytham Hall and today, following my post last week, I’m sharing a page that reminds me of their enchanting and magical willow sculptures (smile!).

In this video, I’ll take you on a fun journey as we explore the whimsical world of art journaling inspired by the beauty of willow sculptures and nature.

https://youtube.com/shorts/Mis6502GgQQ

I had fun replicating a willow circle using Sizzix Thinlits die cuts and some Tim Holtz Kraft Cardstock, it forms the backdrop for my Stamperia Alterego deer. I hope you’ll join me and watch my video as I delve into the world of mixed media art, experimenting with textures, colours, and techniques to create a one-of-a-kind art journal page that I hope will inspire your imagination and spark your creativity (smile).

The mixed media I used to create this page includes Distress Ink, Liquitex Matte gel medium, Stamperia Paper Cuts and Ephemera, Faber-Castell Marker, Sizzix Thinlits Die Cuts, Tim Holtz Kraft Cardstock, Crafter’s Companion glue tape pen, Stix2 double-sided foam tape, washi stickers and Liquitex acrylic ink.

You may remember, from last week’s post, this handsome fellow just hanging around .

This lioness and cub can be found by the Hall itself, looking out over the grounds from the small hillock that they created for them.

These amazing hares can be found boxing in the woods nearby.

You may also recognise this character from a Wallace & Gromit animated film; Gromit is on his scooter as you can find him near the entrance to the car park. All of these stunning willow sculptures were created by a very talented local artist, Helena Mellenchip.

I hope that you enjoyed our adventures at Lytham Hall; we managed to miss one of the sculptures though, maybe we’ll find it next time (smile!).

We had fun at Lytham Hall and the willow sculptures made us smile, as did these hot chocolates that we enjoyed at a local café; as T Stands For Tuesday this photo allows me to join the T Gang and wish you all a very Happy T Day!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

From delicate florals to intricate details, every element of this page is carefully designed to transport you to a bygone era of elegance and refinement. So, sit back, relax, and let the beauty of Lytham Hall’s vintage garden charm inspire you (smile!).

The mixed media I used to create this page includes Stamperia Rice Paper, Liquitex Matte Gel Medium, Stamperia Paper Pad, Faber-Castell Marker, Marianne Designs Die Cuts, Linen Textured Cardstock, Crafter’s Companion glue tape pen and Tim Holtz Sticker Book.

For more inspiration, please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

The tulips were so beautiful.

They were scattered amongst the formal garden borders of the ‘Violet Walk’ leading up to Lytham Hall (smile!).

The border is growing beautifully and looking a bit fuller this year; here’s what it looked like back in April 2024. There’s also another addition this year, just hanging around in one of the big trees, that you can see on the photo on the other side of the black wrought iron fence.

This amazing orangutang is part of the new Willow Sculpture Trail at Lytham Hall.

The sculptures are stunning and yes, they are made of willow by a very talented local artist, Helena Mellenchip. I’ll be sure to share more of our adventures as we explore the trail soon (smile!).

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m also sharing my simple green tea from the café at Lytham Hall pictured here with a yummy cheesecake – wishing you all a very Happy T Day!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Forest Magic & Secrets

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Deep In The Forest.

I had so much fun creating this magical forest page by combining my new Forest Paper Cuts from Stamperia with some of my older craft stash (smile!).

I started by covering the page with a nature scene from a Forest Paper Pad by Stamperia, which I cut to fit the page. Then I framed the page using a green Faber-Castell dual tip marker and a ruler. I selected a deer’s head and some pine cones from a Forest Paper Cuts sheet by Stamperia and edged them with a lightest brown grey TriBlend Spectrum Noir marker. I arranged them onto the page with some pine foliage, which was die cut from green Kraft Cardstock using Festive Foliage Sizzix Thinlits by Tim Holtz and as I arranged everything onto the page I added some shadows using the Brown Grey marker. The wording was from a Stamperia Magic Forest Die-Cut and was mounted onto some of the some of the green Tim Holtz cardstock; it reads “The Forest is filled with magic and secrets”. The floral postage stamp was from the Stamperia Create Happiness Christmas Tickets Ephemera set by Vicky Papaioannou. To finish, I splattered the whole page with white Liquitex acrylic ink.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful creations from our Guest Designer and the rest of my Design Teamies.

The pine cones and needles on my page reminded me of this beautiful tree that we see often on one of our walks. The warm spring days, that we’ve been having, trigger pine cones to open, releasing the seeds.

My dearest friend, who we walk with, likes the cones that have been striped by the squirrels; the parts they actually eat are the seeds, which are very small and can only be recovered by stripping off the scales, leaving the cone axis, which as you can see, looks like an apple core (smile!).

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Challenges

The lovely Erika from her blog BioArtGal is hosting over at Art Journal Journey this month; she has chosen Spring Birds as her theme and I’m joining in the fun with a bit of springtime forest magic.

Clitheroe in Springtime

Today I’m using a postcard to create a beautiful art journal page, inspired by the charming town of Clitheroe, Lancashire in springtime.

To see how it all came together, please check out this short video, which is just a minute long; in my Springtime art journaling tutorial, I’m thrilled to share my creative process as I transform a postcard into a beautiful art journal page.

Here’s the link to my YouTube channel Let’s Art Journal so, if you wish, you can Like this video and Subscribe to my channel.

Using Stamperia and Ranger Ink art supplies, I’ll show you how to combine mixed media elements with personal memories to create a unique and meaningful art journal page. I’ll guide you through every step of this fun and easy DIY project. From choosing the perfect colours of spring to adding embellishments to the charming architecture of Clitheroe’s streets, I’m showcasing my artistic interpretation of this picturesque destination – enjoy!

The mixed media I used to create this page includes Distress Paint, Stamperia Stencil, Distress Ink, a postcard that I bought when I visited Clitheroe, Crafter’s Companion glue tape pen, The Paper Boutique papers, die cuts and Stamperia Ephemera.

We visited Clitheroe for my birthday, and had the most wonderful time exploring the quaint streets and shops. We even walked up the many steps to the castle ruins and enjoyed the spectacular views.

There is a beautiful flower shop in Clitheroe with the most amazing displays, the beautiful springtime basket, pictured here on the right, caught my eye (smile!).

Whilst we were in Clitheroe, we also visited our favourite café, called Chocolate Works, and enjoyed a hot chocolate – they are very, very yummy! Our drinks are pictured here with my blueberry muffin and my hubby’s Yorkshire Scoundrel (this is a cross between a scone and a rock bun, it contains dried fruit and has flaked almonds and cherries on the top). With our drinks, I’m joining T Stands for Tuesday, where birthday celebrations are very apt with it being our hosts bEARTHday – wishing you every happiness and Happy T Day everyone!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Hop into Easter

I created this fun and creative Easter-themed mini art journal page, as it’s Easter this coming weekend (smile), using collage and mixed media techniques!

To see how this mini art journal page came together, please check out this short video, which is only 30 seconds long. Here’s the link to my YouTube channel Let’s Art Journal so, if you wish, you can like this video and subscribe to my channel.

In this quick art journal page tutorial, I’ll show you how to collage the different mixed media together to create this colourful Easter page. So let’s get crafty and have fun!

The mixed media that I used, included washi tape, paper pad, Crafter’s Companion glue tape pen, a rainbow image and pink bunny die cut (that was gifted me by a dear friend), gems, matte gel medium, a Kaisercraft stamp, Distress Archival Ink and a foam sticker.

From one pink bunny to another, imagine my surprise to see this pink bunny at our local patisserie shop; it’s one of their Easter offerings called Almond Hop (it’s Milk Chocolate and Almond Praline Centre, encased in a Toasted marzipan mousse, on a brown butter sponge) – so yummy (smile!).

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Wishing you every happiness this Eastertime! x

Easter Bunny

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Spring Fling (Easter).

For my Easter Bunny page, I painted some Brushed Corduroy Distress Paint roughly over the page. When dry, I added the green foreground using a Kiwi Faber-Castell Gelato and the sky using a Elderberry  Faber-Castell Gelato. The sun is a piece of yellow linen textured paper, which I cut out and stuck to the corner of the page; before it was stuck in place I added some sun rays to the background using a Buttercream Faber-Castell Gelato and once in place I used the Buttercream and a Coconut Gelato to add some more colour to the sun. The Easter bunny and flowers were die cut, from white cardstock, using Gemini Crafter’s Companion die. I also die cut the bunny section again using pink and brown cardstock from a Kraft Paper Pad by Tim Holtz. I pieced the coloured die cut bunny pieces over the top of the white bunny die cut, sticking them in place with a Crafter’s Companion glue dot tape. Then, I coloured the flowers, seed heads, and foliage using Alpine Green and Ice Grey Tri-Blend Spectrum Noir markers and yellow and gold Spectrum Aqua markers. I stuck the die cuts in place using a glue tape dots pen by Crafter’s Companion. Next, I created the blades of grass by colouring some white cardstock with the green Tri-Blend marker and cutting the coloured paper into elongated-triangle shapes; they were stuck in clusters onto the foreground. The wording was from a Studiolight sticker book and reads, “Everyday is a new beginning,” and was outlined using a white Uniball gel pen. To finish, I splattered the page using white Liquitex acrylic ink.

For more inspiration please pop over to Try it on Tuesday to see the wonderful creations from the rest of my Design Teamies.

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing this cute bunny mug that we saw whilst out shopping – Happy T Day everyone!
