Love Hearts

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is All Loved Up.

Today I’m sharing a card featuring some beautiful heart shaped flowers (smile!).

For this card I used up some old crafting materials which included: for the background I created a masterboard by smooshing Festive Berries Distress Ink (which I spritzed with water), using an acrylic block onto a piece of mixed media paper and I then stamped some flowers over the top using Love Letter Memento Ink; I cut the mixed media paper to size and stuck it to a 5×7″ white card; I added the heart shaped flowers which was from a Penny Black sticker set; the wording was from a topper set and was stuck into place using double-sided tape; to finish I added a recycled red bow.

Me and my hubby are wishing you a very happy February; may it be all loved up (smile!).

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Happy and creative wishes! x

Be in love with your life

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is For A Lady.

I enjoyed creating this pretty feminine page, it’s a simple collage of papers, fussy cut flowers and stickers; I hope you like it (smile!).

The background was created using paper pieces and borders, that I cut from a Butterfly Garden 12×12″ paper pad and arranged onto the page with some green ruler stickers by Kaisercraft. The flowers and butterfly were fussy cut from the same paper pad and layered over the top of the background papers. To finish, I added the “be in love with your life” wording, which was a Kaisercraft sticker.

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing a glass of non-alcoholic elderflower fizz that I enjoyed as part of an afternoon tea for a friend’s birthday – Happy T Day everyone!

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Ale-Hop

As it’s Valentine’s Day, I’m posting this art journal page to send all my love to my hubby, because although it’s an unconventional design for Valentines, it’s his favourite (smile!) – Happy Valentine’s Day!

This fun page captures happy memories of our time at the Ale-Hop (meaning “off you go!” in English) stores across Spain; I’ve recycled their bag.

To see how it all came together, please check out this short video, which is under a minute long. Here’s the link to my YouTube channel Let’s Art Journal so, if you wish, you can like this video and subscribe to my channel.

This tutorial shows the essentials of how I created this mixed media art journal page taking a step-by-step approach that I used using white gesso, acrylic paints, 2″ brush, recycled tissue paper, UHU glue stick and a recycled Ale-Hop bag.

Ale-Hop is a fun store and can be found throughout Spain; here’s my Valentine hubby outside one of the Malaga stores, yes they often have more than one store in a town. They always have these cows at the entrance to their stores that have a ringing bell around their neck, kids (and maybe me) like to ring them (smile!).

Thanks so much for joining me today. If you have any questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.

Happy and creative wishes and wishing you a very Happy Valentine’s Day! x

Challenges

The lovely Vicki from https://stampedsmiles.com is hosting over at Art Journal Journey this month; she has chosen Music as her theme so I’m joining her as my page features a bell around the cows neck, which was fun to ring.

Love to travel

It’s time for a new challenge over at Try it on Tuesday, which for the next two weeks is Romance.

I loved creating this romantic Oriental Tea Garden page with the little birds sitting amongst the blossoms anticipating spring and spreading love and joy; the red leaves and teapot reminded me of our recent trip to Tenerife (smile!).

To create this page, I used papers from an 8×8 Oriental Garden paper pad by Stamperia. I covered the page with a piece of leftover paper (that I’d used on another project) and have just realised that I put the paper wrongly because the text is meant to run down the page in order to read it – oops! Then I tore the bird, wall and branch images from another of the pad pages and arranged them onto the page using Liquitex matte gel medium. Once dry, I edged the torn papers using a Dark Grey Faber-Castell marker and a black UniPin fine line marker smudging the ink with my finger. Next, I cut out the teapot tag and “Love” and “Joy” tags from the paper pad and mounted them onto some red paper from the same pad. I used a Crop-A-Dile tool to punch the holes in the tags and looped some Trimits waxed thread through them, creating knots which looked oriental. The tags were stuck in place using Stix2 double-sided foam tape and I used a Warm Grey TriBlend Spectrum Noir to add some shadows under the tags and also around the torn edges of the papers. I lightly splattered the page with white Liquitex acrylic ink and to finish, added the white flowers to create blossom on the trees.

We recently went to Puerto del a Cruz, Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain where there are some beautifully landscaped streets; we came across these red leaf trees which reminded me of my page.

Of course, we couldn’t resist buying some loose leaf tea from this teashop (smile!).

As T Stands for Tuesday, I’m sharing my oriental garden page with the teapot tag and also some of the fabulous selection of teapots at the shop; I think the some of them even look a little like the one that I included on my page – Happy T Day everyone!
