At a news conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, MPs and representatives from the Iranian-Canadian community discuss issues relating to the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752. Taking part in this press conference are MPs Kevin Vuong (Spadina—Fort York) and Garnett Genuis (Sherwood Park—Fort Saskatchewan) as well as Ardeshir Zarezadeh (executive director, International Centre for Human Rights) and Avideh Motmâenfar (president, Council of Iranian Canadians). Flight PS752 was shot down by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on January 8, 2020, killing all 176 passengers, including 55 Canadian citizens and 30 permanent residents. The participants reiterate their calls for the federal government to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization.
