Job Title

I doubt anyone will ever notice that the ‘service’ word in my job title has moved from the centre to being bracketed behind.

Just like how hard I’ve to explain to colleagues and friends whom I’ve met what is the difference in the job scope (which is quite a lot) and they still go ‘huh?’.

I don’t really blame them, we have so many same-sounding-titles – TBD, TBM, TRM, TCSM, TRSM, TRM-S, TSM, TSO. Just a quick one, the T stands for Treasures and its what we call our priority banking segment.

So anyways, yes, I’ve moved on to another phrase of my career. It is with effect from 1st December 2006. I’m really excited and all geared up about the new challenge ahead. I hope I’ve not jinxed it by declaring it 30 minutes earlier than the official date.

All the best and only the best to my future endeavours! 🙂

Cool Rainy Night

Its drizzling nicely outside. So therapeutic. Putting me into a relaxed mood. Sometimes, at moments like this, where work seems so far away and all there is, is nature and you, you start to feel that this is life.

If only every moment of my life is like this, I’m contented. Then again, when such moments becomes an abundance, most probably I will take it for granted. That’s human nature.

Hmmm, I really love the wonderful pitter-pattering sound of raindrops just before I sleep..

Best Friend’s Wedding

Have been looking and trying dresses everywhere I go for Rachel’s big day morning outfit. The colour has been set as ivory to match her gown. I’m really excited about her wedding. She’s considered my first best friend going through the full ceremony.

Wanted to get the same outfits for all the 6 ‘sisters’ but rather difficult to coordinate given that the other 3 of us have never met before so our tastes will vary greatly. Hence, we decided to colour coordinate only. Still looks neat and at least not boring but with varieties. I hope we all have some great chemistry and psychic to come up with the same shade of ivory.

Anyways, managed to find my perfect outfit (centre piece) at this new tiny store at Bukit Timah Plaza among all the rest I’ve tried here and there.

Its in polka dots, I like! Its price is absolutely reasonable, I like! Its free size but fits me just nice, I like! So I bought it.

The rest of them think I’m nuts because its only November and the wedding is in January – 2 months more. Haha..

Now to look for a pair of low great-looking heels and some dainty accessories to complement it!

On another note, I really squeezed time out in the evening when travelling from Thomson to Bukit Timah during work, to try the dress lor. So cham.. But happy that I did and got a great bargain. Heh.. Retail theraphy do wonders.

Still waiting for my hair to dry now (at 3.27am) after washing it when I got back at 2am from office today. Gotta wake up in a short while for work yet again. I think I should have camped in office lor!

Red Alert

I think my banking career is in serious jeopardy.. 😦

All the hard long hours of almost a year’s work wiped out in 5 minutes of judgement error where originally it doesn’t even concern me.

Still awake at this hour (2.38am) of a weekday night because I’m still waiting for my hair to dry. Reach home from office at about 1.30am. Very sad/tired/ stress/worried/frustrated lor.

Housing Agents

Personally, I feel house hunting and house selling should be an excited and happy event. But somehow or rather, housing agents are making me feel that moving house is a really bad idea.

They are absolutely a pain to the neck, irritating to the core and money-minded to the max.

Its not that I do not want to give them business. I bought my current unit eons ago through an agent too and had no problems because I wanted an agent to do my negotiation, paperwork, sourcing as I had little time and experience. So I don’t mind paying the 1% commission (which was $1,360 and to us, its freakingly a lot when we were surviving solely on dar’s income only).

BUT this time round, with some years of maturity, I feel I’m fit to handle a sale and purchase plus the high agent commission is really deterring – 2% to sell and 1% to buy. No way would I pay an exhorbitant amount of over $6,000! That can cover a third or so of my planned renovations for the new place lor.

I’v tried to made myself clear to the seller’s or buyer’s agents but they were always like ‘view now discuss later’. View already want to discuss terms and they start showing black face when I say you are not my agent so I’m not obligated to pay you.

The thing is I surf for the units available on my own, I call the seller (or rather the seller’s agent) to fix the appointment on my own, I travel to the unit on my own and I negotiate my own price, so where are your value-added services that makes me willing to part with my money?

There is no such thing as free money where you, just by being the seller or buyer’s agent, happen to meet a agentless (and please note, its not by luck I’m without an agent, its by choice) buyer or seller like me, then demand that we pay you the commission. If its that the case, to save the hassle, I rather find my own agent to do all the neccessary for me isn’t it, with all the service, transport, temporary secretary to arrange for the viewings etc.

Just because its a market practice doesn’t mean that it has to apply to everyone of us. That’s not the law what, right!

If you, the agent, filled up all the forms for me accurately, submitted the documents promptly and your attitude’s sincere and genuine, at your request, I wouldn’t mind giving a token of appreciation. But please, do not expect it!

Real Life Examples :

  1. One of the agent agreed on a fixed amount of commission to pay, however, after deciding on a unit, he wrote double the amount on the buyer’s commission form. UNETHICAL IDIOT!
  2. Whereas another agent, ‘let’s view first, discuss later’ and we somehow forgot to discuss. Later on, disagreements arises with ‘I thought you have agreed on the terms?’ (when more buyers wanted to view my unit and I did not want before we come to an mutual understanding) which was what I disagreed and wanted to discuss about but he perhaps conveniently forgot. SCHEMING IDIOT!

So anyways, they are really a bunch of pricks!

Tired + Moody = PMS ?

Had a bad day today. Its an everything went wrong day.

I feel that my life is running me rather than I run my life sometimes. Things are like moving in different directions at the same time in an out of control manner.

Why like that.

Very tired.

Perhaps its due to all the early waking ups to travel to Thomson Plaza for work every morning. Perhaps its due to the world-war-4 type of hectic and chaotic working environment where everyone wants a piece of you – emails coming in every 5 minutes, DID ringing non-stop, mobile messages keep beeping and on top of that, you get interrupted every 10 minutes as someone needs to ask something or someone need you to do something or.. Ai ya, it just goes on and on and on.

Plus my buddy colleagues working at my old office, Bt Timah Plaza, are working till 2am everyday (Mondays to Saturdays, Sunday half-day)! Imagine they work till 2am, reach home 2.30am, bathe 3am and sleep only at 3.30am. Then at 6am, they got to wake up for work and the whole cycle goes on again. Siao one leh!

I’m being requested to go back there as the new girls have problems. Sighs.. I so do not want to work till 2am lor.

Working in banks simply sucks!

Singaporeans Very Rich, Buy Flat Don’t Need Think

I’m freakingly upset NOW.

As mentioned previously, I was shortlisting units from HDB last week to go down to view this weekend. BUT DAMN IT, all those units are GONE! There were many many when I was browsing the online portal and the walk-in selection exercise only opened for one week lor – 6 Nov. 😦

I should say though kinda far, from the pictures and layouts posted, they are by far one of the nicest HDB flats I’ve seen. Outside looks like condo and got underground parking. UNDERGROUND PARKING LEH! Which HDB flat in Singapore got underground parking you tell me?!?!

Somemore its right smack next to underground Buangkok MRT station. Buangkok MRT station is before Sengkang and Punggol somemore lor.
