Service

Now that my customers are not Singaporeans, I realized how irritatingly demanding and unappreciative Singaporeans can be. I am also guilty of such behavior but have been trying to improve my attitude.

We are trying to achieve world class standards of service but I think we still have tons to improve in a first world society. Look at Japan, they are the good example of first class service. Shopping is such a wonderful experience in their departmental stores.

People usually think that improving service standards is the onus of service personnel but I think being customers, though they are always right, play an important role too.

For the past years that I’ve been of great service to local customers, the number of compliments I received are really countable. But for the past months that I’ve been of same level of service to overseas customers, their compliments are really frothcoming.

Compliments play a big role in maintaining and improving customer service by providers as it gives a great morale booster. It can be a simple note on a feedback form that is readily available or short email saying “I’m really impressed with your great service, thank you.”. This recognition really goes a long way.

Common

Almost everyone in my current office has facebook, that’s really interesting.

But I got to delete my ping.sg app in facebook so it doesn’t get linked to my blog. Though I’m so happy now with my work, hence you don’t really read any complains that I need to blog and get off my chest but it does feel a bit funny if my boss’s boss (yes, even she has an facebook account!) reads my entries.

These are just my random thoughts and what if she knows my rubbish thoughts and know what a rubbish person I am? I must maintain some perception of how good I am right. I mean I am really good la just a bit rubbish with my nonsensical ideas in my personal thoughts. I’m a pro at work ok. Ha!

The week’s finally over. Although its a short week as Monday was a holiday and I took PM off on Wednesday to go for Regan’s meet-the-parents at his school, the week seems really draggy and long, quite odd. I’m already like dozing off when its Friday night – my favourite night of the week.

Looking forward to the two days of rest!

Activities

My moods are always contradicting me. I will like to get out and do something like going to the beach or blade but I also feel like lazing at home. I will then debate within me on what to do and by the time I decide to perhaps do it, its like end of the day. And I will feel kinda sad its a day wasted somehow by not doing anything.

Anyways, books say when you get older you should need lesser sleep. But I always feel like sleeping and sleeping. It’s like never enough. But when it’s night time, I don’t really feel sleepy. My body clock is really not as healthy as I want it to be. How I wish my office implement some flexi hour kind of work. I can go in later and work later. I don’t really mind. I can even call the US customers when it’s morning for them!

I think sleeping is my key activity during the weekends. I consider that a time waster too but I can’t help it. Singapore is really not too exciting. Wish I’m staying in New Zealand where I can go camping with the family, build a fire and BBQ hotdogs in the wild with a cooling weather. Such lovely images..

Anniversary Dinner

I wanted to do a post with photo since it’s really been a while since I posted any. But I was not able to log into my Photobucket account. It now requests I try back later coz I had too many failed log-ins.

We had a company anniversary dinner and it sucks totally. The only thing that made it memorable was perhaps the good service in refilling my empty glass with F&N orange juice. Basically the food sucks, lucky draw method was unexciting, the lucky draw gifts are a joke, lousy games and boring performances lined up.

The whole marketing aspect of it was good though. I guess 99.99% of the budget went into that. We even have those swivel kind of crane camera to record the place and show on the kick-ass projectors. I heard CNA came by to conduct some interview and get a few shots of the place.

I will have been more appreciative if more thoughts will put into little things like door gifts (I LOVE DOOR GIFT GOODY BAGS LOR), better food and heart-pumping-lucky-drawing. I mean the lucky draw is like the highlight isn’t it! And I was so disappointed to know even though those whom did not turn up or stayed till end of the dinner gets to keep their prizes. How can!!!

No wonder it’s not an annual kind of event organized but one every decade or something – it sucks so turn out will be embarrassing. Hence, need to give the staff some time to forget about it you see.
