After uni, I realised that I needed to reintroduce a bit of creativity into my life. Persuaded by the GBSB, I bought a sewing machine (and some embroidery hoops and knitting needles, but one thing at a time…).

I aim to post something most weekends, but won’t beat myself up too much if I don’t!

Here are some sites that have provided inspiration – although I mostly browse recent WordPress posts tagged “sewing”!

• Fat Quarterly: A quarterly e-magazine accompanied by a blog and tutorials.
• Guthrie-Ghani: Lauren from The Great British Sewing Bee has a great hab shop and a blog with plenty of tips and inspiration.
• Sew, Mama, Sew: Four sewers running a shop, tutorials, blog, tips, and more! I’m planning to try some of their ‘month of hand sewing’ or Fat Quarter items and already have my eye on a dress to make when I’m skilled enough to try colour blocking…
• Tilly and the Buttons: Another Sewing Bee contestant, Tilly has an awesome blog of her creations, and even has some of her own patterns available to buy, download, print, and make!
• The Thrifty Stitcher: Claire-Louise, sewing consultant to The Bee, gives some free tips and tutorials on her site, as well as keeping a blog and running sewing classes in Stoke Newington.
