Hey <<First Name>>,
When you think about your childhood, what do you remember, what are your most pleasant memories?
For me, it's my time growing up in New Dominion, PEI, a rural farming community, surrounded by the beauty of nature. I have vivid memories of wandering through the woods (including falling asleep on a log for over an hour, to my family's distress!), or playing on our deck overlooking our backyard, where I could see my grandmother tend her vegetable garden. She would grow carrots, yellow beans, peas, and many other fresh veggies that we'd enjoy at our family dinners, founding my connection with the earth that I still enjoy today.
I recall one particular summer memory when I was 6 years old, my grandmother showed me how to pull a baby carrot out of the ground. I wiped the soil off with my t-shirt and ate it right then and there, fresh from the garden, bursting with flavour. That memory, along with countless others, played a major role in shaping my love for farming and connecting with nature. I know my wife Catherine has similar cherished memories with her own grandmother in her garden as well.

As farmers, Catherine and I now manage Maple Bloom Farm, where we aim to connect our customers and Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members with nature through the organic produce we grow and the partnerships we forge with other local farmers. My hope is that we can continue to build a community that shares in our passion for sustainable agriculture and preserving and enjoying our natural environment.

Looking back, my childhood experiences of falling asleep on a log in the woods, running around the fields near our home, and learning from my grandmother in our family garden have left a profound impact on me. It was these moments that set the stage for me becoming the nature-loving person that I am today and have cultivated a deep sense of meaning in tending to our market garden. We want to share that with as many people in our community as possible.

I often wonder how different my life would have been had I not been raised in that nurturing environment with those early experiences. They have given me a deep appreciation for the natural world and a desire to protect our ecosystems, reduce pollution, and promote sustainable farming practices.
The journey I've taken since my earliest days has led me to a deep love and appreciation for the farming life and the people who share that passion, whether that's in their fields and gardens, or around their dinner table. With Maple Bloom Farm, we hope to continue the tradition of fostering a connection with nature and leaving a legacy of making the world a better place.
So tell me, what are some of your fondest memories from your life related to food, gardening, or simply being immersed in nature? I'd love to hear your stories. Hit reply and let me know!
Sincerely,
Jordan
