I’m an escapee from the (dull) medical publishing industry with a background in English literature who is finally getting a chance to attack my to-be-read pile. I love Bach and rock, say ‘wheeeee!’ and ‘lovely’ a lot, eat far too much cheese, am pwnd by cats, and when I’m not reading, I can generally be found knitting.

Hi. I’m a 52 year-old accountant in Minnesota. I too, absolutely loved Maud Hart Lovelace, and Emily of Deep Valley was a personal favorite. I grew up in a small town in Wisconsin, and spent a lot of time at the public library. I also loved books by Janet Lambert, Lenore Mattingly Weber, Anne Emery, etc. You can find those books reissued at ImageCascade.com.
I loved young teen series books (I still do), and I also knit pretty well. I’ve enjoyed your blog.
Beth – Thank you for your lovely comments. It’s good to hear from another person who grew up reading MH Lovelace and other young teen books. I discovered Image Cascade books last summer, and ordered two, but have yet to read them. I also spent lots of time in the library as a child, and loved older books from authors like Betty Cavannaugh and Rosamund du Jardin, so I’m looking forward to discovering all the ones you mentioned!
Hi there,
Mills & Boon would like to invite you to take part in a blog tour to celebrate the launch of New Voices, their nationwide search to find a talented new author to join their galaxy of romantic fiction stars. And the public helps vote to choose the winner – so if you love your romantic fiction – there’s a lot more coming your way!
Between 1st and 15th September Mills & Boon editors, Flo Nicoll and Anna Boatman will take part in a two week blog tour in the lead up to the New Voices competition, advising aspiring writers with top tips for writing romantic fiction. They will talk heroes, heroines, love and steamy storylines. If you’re interested in taking part, please let me know and I can organise for you to interview either Flo or Anna. Alternatively if you would prefer a blog post, Flo and Anna can write some top tips on how to write romantic fiction for your blog. We are hoping to schedule 14 blogs to take part in the tour of the fortnight and will be creating a New Voices Blog Tour Banner where we plan to include details of all the blogs taking part.
Readers of your blog who want to enter the New Voices competition can submit the first chapter of their Mills & Boon novel at http://www.romanceisnotdead.com for a chance at winning the ultimate prize of seeing their book published by Mills & Boon, an editor for a year and an Apple iPad. The winner will be chosen by public vote and a panel of judges, including lifelong Mills & Boon fan and celebrity judge, Jodie Prenger.
Really looking forward to hearing from you, and please do get in touch if you have any questions or require more information.
Best,
Eleanor
Bach, cats, reading, knitting!! I’m with you all the way. Would personally add playing the recorder. However, the cat then leaves the room immediately, she prefers the more gentle sound of knitting needles perhaps and appears to have no problem with Bach thankfully.
