Faith Without Works

Sunset over Mountain RangeJames 2:17 …faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

There is nowhere that I can find in Scripture that substantiates the idea that a person is accepted into the Family of God to just sit and do nothing and ride on the “wings” of that idea into heaven.

I don’t know of any statistics, but I think it is an accepted fact that sins of “omission” are much more rampant in the Church than sins of “commission.”

Paul says “…by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works…” while James says without works faith is dead.

It helps me to process it thus – although we are saved BY works, we certainly are saved TO work. Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and thereby glorify the Father” (Matthew 5:16).

One will never get good at what they do without working at it. Just sayin’.
