Today is Election Day USA! Even though many ballots have already been cast, many offices are still in play. The main ones for New York at least, are The Mayor of New York, The Governor of New Jersey, and The Governor of Virginia. Folks will be looking for clues that may help predict the outcomes of next year’s all important National Elections.
To all those who lost their lives on that horrific day, Sept 11, 2001, and in the ensuing days and years due to that poisonous, cowardly bombing, including all the brave responders and rescuers:
On September 11, 2001, my cousin was in one of the buildings of the Twin Towers, a place where he had worked for many years. He also was there during the 1990s bombing, and as a project leader, he drew up plans after that 1990s bombing to evacuate the premises in case it was necessary. As a result on September 11th, he was prepared and was able to get everyone in his team out alive.
About 3 years ago he developed a cancer, which we believe can be traced back to that day. He has received treatment for this cancer and is now in remission, which we are very happy about, of course. My larger point is the poison released on that terrible day is still effecting people every day and the true casualty list is much greater than the original figures.
So I urge people not to forget these folks also, many of whom may still need our assistance.

A protest against intrusion A protest against harassment Stop!
******************************* Warning: Especially for those in the gig economy (like me), the US is now hiring over 80,000 IRS agents to hunt down hard working Americans. Make no mistake about it, this new law is directed at independents, self-employed contractors, small businesses, members of the gig economy, etc, who love their independent life, and often put in many hours for modest amounts of financial reward. There is absolutely no economic need for this vast expansion of the IRS.

And now abideth Faith, Hope, Charity, these three; but the greatest of these is Charity.

King James Bible 1 Corinthians 13:13

I first learned this phrase when I was very young, probably around 5 or 6 years old. I must say, unfortunately, I have not always lived up to it. But I can also say, I have never forgotten it.
Some things in life just stay with you, through the thick and thin.
It is high past time to free Brittney Griner, the United States Women’s Basketball star, from the war criminals in Russia. Clearly she was arrested to serve as a hostage. The war criminals in Russia were very well aware they were going to invade Ukraine well before they actually illegally crossed the border and invaded.
I am shocked and disappointed that the Biden administration has said very little about this situation and urge them to act immediately. They should know by now that everything that comes from the war criminals in Russia is sheer propaganda and should never be believed.
Even in these turbulent times we celebrate the American College Basketball Tournament known as March Madness which begins today, March 15! Let the games begin!
Skyscrapers subways crowded streets dashing taxis there is nothing like New York Fashion Week!
*********************************
The Fall/Winter edition of New York Fashion Week starts on February 11th and extends through February 16th. Though there still may be some restrictions due to the pandemic, Fashion Week always carries a festive atmosphere and helps to pick up both the economy and the spirits of the city.
The nice thing is that most of the shows are streamed and can be viewed online, free of charge! Here is a link to the site where you can sign up for free and watch individual shows online:
A tribute to the great American automobile, an invention that changed and shaped the culture and landscape of America for generations. That age may very well be coming to an end.
If it does it was certainly an exhilarating ride while it lasted! At one time Presidents literally could say with confidence, what’s good for General Motors, is good for America, and be accurate. Those days have long since passed however the automobile industry is still an important part of the American economy.
Change is inevitable, particularly in the modern world, but this coming change may be more than many folks realize. Time will tell one way or the other.
