HQAL: Heart Christmas 🎄 Quilt Update

Hello my crafty friends 👋

Here with another 3 week update on my Heart Christmas quilt 🎄

At our last posting I had shown you 7 new blocks for the quilt. This posting I finished 4 more blocks for a total of 16. They measure 11 x 11.

Below are the new blocks

The next step with this project will be to create a border around each block. I am toying with they idea of using all the same material of the blocks and making a binding strip to use as the border or using just a solid green material for this.

Below I posted the picture of the 9 patch Christmas quilt I made a few years back. You may remember it. This just went home as a gift for a daughter’s birthday this month. It was a milestone birthday and she loved it ♥️

Before I go and check in with the others in this HQAL, I wanted to wish you a beautiful Easter holiday.

Thank you for visiting with me today 🌷

I won’t show the pictures of the first blocks again, but I had finished 5 blocks for my new project, the Christmas Heart Quilt. These past 3 weeks I finished another 7 blocks. SAL Update: Peace ☘️ Love 💚 Joy 🌿

I ask – how the heck is it March already?

My crocus are up and my daffies are waking up too in anticipation of true spring.

But on to the task at hand with an update on my SAL cross stitch project, Peace Love Joy

At our last posting I showed you this photo

Here is where I am now

I am still working on the moose block. Having it done was just not in the cards for this posting.

Keeping with this cross stitch theme, I have also been pulling out a few things in preparation of down sizing my collections. I have these 2 very vintage simple samplers.

I am not sure if I want to keep them. The question is

do they bring me joy? I don’t really think so.

My question to you is – do you think they have value? Do they bring you joy? Should I offer as a gift if someone would want them? Thoughts needed please

Well thats a wrap for this updates posting. Now I am looking forward to checking in with the others in this SAL. If you’re not a part, I invite you to join me by clicking on the links below. There are so many wonderful projects in the works.

HQAL: A New Project

I have the start to a new project to share but before I do that I wanted to remind you that at our last posting I shared the finish of my 9 Patch Moda fabric quilt. Below is the pictures of the finish that I posted.

It took me some time to decide what I wanted to do next.

I have a number of UFO’s calling to me but not loud enough for me to choose them. I’m guessing since Valentine’s Day was looming big on my instagram feed, a heart pattern was subtly implanted in my brain. I have been wanting to use my stash of Christmas fabrics for a while and thought, this is the time.

So Tuesday I began the new quilt. I worked a block each day thru Saturday, for 5 finished blocks. This pattern stitches up very quickly. Here are the blocks and some of the fabric I have picked out for the next few days.

Whats going on weather wise at your homes? I think all of us in this HQAL are experiencing winter. Ours has been so mild this year with no snow, and a mix of bright sunny days or overcast rainy days. My crocus are coming up with the little white bells. Even my tulips have sprouted. It seems a bit early but I’ll take it. I am sending out warming thoughts to everyone and hoping you’re staying snug and smiling.

Thank you so much for visiting with me today. Below are the links to the woman in this HQAL. If you are a hand quilter, we would love for you to join us. You can do that by contacting Kathy listed below. I also would like to invite you to join me in visiting the others in our group. There are some wonderful projects in the works.

See you in three weeks with another update

SAL: Peace Love Joy Update

A big blog hello and welcome to another update for my SAL project. Won’t you join me with a cup of tea or coffee? I’ll be showing you my project and then I will be off to check in with the others in this SAL and I would love for you to visit with them too. There are some amazing projects in the works.

When last we posted 3 weeks ago my project looked like this below.

I had not done much since the holiday break. There was a hint of yellow color, a block that looked nothing like a glove and the boot still needed to be finished. I had started a blue square just to try and motivate me, which it didn’t.

But here we are with another 3 weeks in and this is where I am now.

Progress has been made!

Below are the links to the others in this stitch along group. You’ll have to forgive me but it’s time for me to skedaddle and check in with the others. Thank you for visiting with me today …. but before I go I wanted to wish you something sweet and remind you how special you are 🧚‍♀️

SAL: Peace * Love * Joy Update

HQAL: Moda 9 Patch Update

December has sure come in with a roar and the days have been a jumble of activity. Activity which sadly has not included any quilting. My project remains the same – so close to being finished. I have the outside border squares left to stitch and then the binding.

I may have lost a bit of my mojo with this project but

I blaming some of my lack of progress on these two. Gus a white chocolate mini schnauzer and Riley our parti mini schnauzer. Riley is still a puppy and has been giving me quite a run around. Both were re homed pets. Gus at 2 1/2 years now 4 and Riley we have had 4 months now and got her at about 12 months.

Any time I sit on the couch to get comfy and get in some quilt time, these two bookend me. Each tries to get closer than the other and before I know it heads are in laps, paws are pawing for pets.

My days have been flying by so quickly and while there’s been no quilting I have been crafting and gift making going on.

Here are a few of the makes that have been going on. 1st is a tall document style journal, the middle a pink pocket filled with sweet holiday tags and the last is small palm sized winter themed journal . You may notice the picture is on a green vintage quilt from my collection.

I want to wish you all a lovely holiday season, much happiness and health (our most precious gift) into the coming new year.

SAL: Peace ☮️ Love ❤️ Joy 🤩 Update

December update on my Peace Love Joy project.

I didn’t get as far along as I wanted to this time but progress was made. At our last posting this was the picture I showed you.

This go round I added the small boot block which still needs to be finished. I’ll finish that up and add all the back stitching to the 5 of these.

In the meantime I had started and am desperate to complete another small Christmas cross stitch card. It is of an angel that I want to send off to my stepmom – A true angel in my life.

This was a used kit I bought off of eBay, the red aida was not included. I feel like I should have purchased some. It just doesn’t have the same punch/affect on white. I have a lot to finish with this and also a lot zhooshing this up.

It’s back to stitching for me but before I go I wanted to wish you all a lovely holiday season 🤍 Thank you soooo much for visiting with me today.

Below are the links to the others in this SAL and I invite you to join me in visiting their page and seeing their projects.

Our next updates will be posted on the 18th January 2026.

About the SAL

Please note this SAL is not accepting any more new members until further notice but this is what it’s all about anyway. This SAL (Stitch Along) is slightly different to other SALs in that we don’t all stitch the same design at the same rate. We choose ONE unfinished project, or ONE new one, and show progress of its completion over a series of three weekly updates. There are no deadlines and no set amount to stitch. The result is that the space in our drawers full of WIPs (works in progress) is gradually being freed up to store lots of new crafty goodness. It’s surprising how much motivation I’ve gained from being in this SAL.
