be glad exceedingly

Don’t you lose heart,

ask God to bring you
renewal straight away.

a head bobbing, banner raising
hand clapping, foot stomping
Holy Spirit filled revival.
Lord we need an awakening,
a gospel preaching, heart turning
sin repenting, life changing
Holy Spirit filled awakening.
Lord we need a quickening,
a daily living, life-long giving
fruit bearing, love sharing
Holy Spirit filled quickening.
Lord, we need a renewal,
a world reaching, grace saving
thirst quenching, mind drenching
Holy Spirit filled renewal.
Lord, we need a revival,
a roof raising, earthshaking
God-fearing, soul saving

Tis the season
to be jolly . . . .
but don’t get caught
up in all the folly.
For, it’s not about,
the jingle bells
or dashing off
to all the sales.
It’s about Immanuel,
the virgin Babe born
so long ago
one early morn.
It’s not about,
the office party
or if Santa
will be tardy.
It’s about God’s love,
shinning from afar
it’s about His promise
of Jacob’s Star.
It’s not about,
the food we buy
or if we’ll make
some kind of pie.
It’s about the hope
that Jesus brings
it’s about His glory
that the angels sing.
It’s not about,
the presents we get
or the gifts we buy
putting us into debt.
It’s about Jesus’ Life,
His Truth, His Way . . .
it’s about salvation gift
we celebrate the day.

to be grateful . . .
for God being to us
true and faithful!

A humble heart,
a contrite one too

for us to read and explore.
There are promises of hope,
for today and the future
each one an eternal pledge
to give our faith a booster.
There are promises of new life,
where not one should perish
for every soul to Him . . .
is one He’ll always cherish.
There is the promise of comfort,
the wiping away of our tears
the beginning of eternal peace
where we will have no more fears.
There are promises to supply us,
with our earthly wants and needs
to deliver us from the suffering
of our sinful acts and deeds.

Lord, with needle and thread,
held in my aging hands . . .
I see the pattern of my life
before You as it stands.
I draw the threads of my youth,
and weave them into my past
ever so thankful to You . . .
that those days did not last.
I pull on the threads of faith,
how they unraveled apart
until the day I asked You
to come and change my heart.
I tug at the threads of doubt,
that were interlocked in my life
and see that they were woven
with the fibers of my strife.
I twist the threads of trust,
that were braided all through
and saw the things I did
only by the strength of You.
Lord, I can see silver threads,

Though I’m born again,
I still look the same . . .
the only difference is
I’m baptized in His name.
I know I’m still a sinner,
but, I’m trying hard not to be
and I’m sure that my faults
you still can see in me.
I’ve got a lot of changing,
that I know I need to do
but, I believe that my Savior
is doing in me something new.
I know I’m not yet perfect,
but, I’m learning every day
how to live like Jesus
by following His righteous way.
I’ve made many choices,
that I am not proud of
but, I’m counting on God mercy
and trusting in His love.
Though I am born again,
I am not without blame . . .
but, the day I accepted Jesus
He took away my shame!

There’s not a hunger,
that Jesus can’t satisfy
there’s not a thirst

Oh, my Lord and Savior,

For those who are hungry,
to find meaning in their life
for all who are left wanting
by the weight of their strife.
Come and taste of the Lord,
let Him fill you with His peace
learn to trust in Him . . .
and your huger pangs will cease.
Come and sip from the well,
where eternal life flows . . .
His kindness will pour forth
as in your heart He grows.
Come and see that He is good,
for bountiful is His grace
tender mercies He has stored
await your heart’s embrace.

Into the wilderness,
we sometimes have to go
when we start thinking . . .
God’s blessings no longer flow.
We find we are still hungry,
our thirst can’t be satisfied
so we wander off in the world
seeking what it will provide.
We complain and we moan,
about our wanting state . . .
as His provisions don’t come
for us at a quick enough rate.
We cannot see the future,
for today looks too bleak
and so for our daily bread
from God we no longer seek.
Then one day the Lord sends,
His manna from above
to reminded us once again
of His merciful love.
Into the wilderness,
we all sometimes have to go
but, God only keeps us there . . .
so our faith in Him will grow!

When our load is heavy,
Jesus’ burden is light
when we embrace our fears
He’ll give us strength to fight.
When we feel we are unloved,
Jesus will call out our name
when we feel our own disgrace
He’ll take away our shame.
When we feel over burdened,
Jesus will carry our strife
when we feel the sting of death
He’ll bring us eternal life.
When we feel like giving up,
Jesus will stretch out His hand
when we feel faint and weak
He’ll help us to rise and stand.
When we feel there is no hope,

When we are in need of rest,

One day all of our sorrows,
will be a thought of no more
when from ashes into beauty
we enter through heaven’s door.
The brokenhearted will see,
their painful grief bound up
their mourning will be silenced
by the oil of joy in His cup.
He will raise the soul penitent,
from their fallen, sinful state
the poor in spirit He’ll elevate
all the way to heaven’s gate.
He’ll set the remorseful free,
from the chains of their sin
as the yoke of guilt and shame
no longer chokes from within.
All those who have made Jesus,
the Lord and Master of their life
will not be punished or condemned
nor be damned for their past strife.
He’ll comfort all who’ve mourned,

We pick the daisy’s petals,
to see if we’re loved or not
we wish upon a star . . .
hoping our dreams are caught.
We rub a rabbit’s foot,
hoping love comes our way
we kiss a toad in hopes . . .
it turns into a prince one day.
We toss a penny in a well,
wishing love will finally come
we cross our fingers in hope
our heart-strings it will strum.
We look for the golden key,
to open our heart’s door
we seek the rainbow’s end
hoping true love we will score.
