Opened eyes.
A new beginning.
Who could dream of such?
Who could ever imagine?
Pressure building.
Release it slowly.
None can fight this off.
No one can cope with this.
A smile grows.
What is this?
Happiness is too uncommon.
No such thing is possible.
Yet it grows.
And laughter.
Shrieks of horrid disbelief.
Forbidden happiness alive?
A tear slips.
A single tear.
Surely in misery and pain.
Surely in discontented grief.
But no.
Not in sorrow.
A tear fallen from pure joy.
A realization of true hope.
More laughter.
Honest laughter…
What smile can live in such pain?
But who said pain had to stay?

  1. No, pain doesn’t have to stay. Laughter is exactly the best exorcist that can chase pain away. Beautiful words. Loved it!

smile , smile, smile to free worries.
love the message, have a fun potluck.

  3. Great poem human resiliency is amazing. Having been Depressed so long I am sometimes shocked when I find myself certainly happy and in equilibrium again
