Image used: Country Girl by Barb Jenson                       Products used: Promarkers Distress inks Floral embossing folder Floral spellbinders nestability die Westlife song lyrics for quote White cardstock White copier paper   I have a connection with art journaling that helps me realx, it comes from my heart and soul.   When I saw the theme was flowers for this fortnights  One Stitch at a time challenge I knew I wanted to do something that went a little beyond spring flowers or even summer flowers.   For me flowers symbolise having survived the winter and now we have not only an abundance of colour but an array of vivid green crunchy delicious vegetables to eat, plucked fresh from the newly warmed soil but the first rays of a crystal bright spring sun.   So I’ve used “country girl” by Barb Jenson, she’s coloured with pr...

Historic

Image
Being a bit of a history fan I really love the historic theme over at  Ikes world challenges . For this challenge I chose to look at the Leaning Tower of Pisa and I'm going to share some historic facts about the tower with you: It was built as a freestanding bell tower for the cathedral in Pisa. On the side where the tower is lower because of the lean it stands at 187.27 feet. On the high side of the tower it stands at 186 feet. The Leaning Tower of Pisa took 344 years to build, beginning in August 1173. Inside the tower there are seven bells. Each bell represents one note of the musical major scale. During World War II, the Allies heard that Germans were using the Leaning Tower of Pisa as an observation post. Once the Allies saw how beautiful the tower was they refrained from destroying it. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a circular shape and has eight floors. The 7 bells are located on the eighth floor For this project I made an easel card as I feel it lends itself to ...

Perseverance

Image
It's a "perseverance" theme over at  Path of Positivity Challenges  and here is my take on it. I've used the cuckoo clock from  Ikes Art  as the main image. The cuckoo clock is coloured with promarkers, the leaves are stamped using various shades of distress ink and hand cut.  The base of the card is coloured using distress inks.  I've used a few liquid pearls to add some dimension.  The card the cuckoo is stuck on is coloured using alcohol inks.  The sentiment is matted on green mirri card and I made the saying up, it reads: It is the journey that you take through the seasons that shapes who you are and what you become. The number of seasons you experience does not matter.

One Stitch at a time ~ Appreciation

Naughty and Nice

Image
Hey everyone,  This fortnight is naughty and nice at  Ikes world challenges .  I've chosen as ever to go a little mad and using a 3d card template from  Cut and Craft  I made a bbq and pig spit/roaster.  I have to confess I didn't follow the template exactly as I couldn't put a roof over my pig in-case it caught fire.  I love the templates at Cut and Craft, they are always detailed and easy to follow however this time I chose not to put it on a card but leave it as a free standing image.  I've coloured and cut the whole thing using promarkers.  The zombie pig is double sided so when the wire that runs through him is turned it works like a real spit and he flips over and looks the same on the other side...gosh this is making me want pork baps now and crackling of course. On the bbq itself I have popped a zombie fish and a prawn, for a yummy snack whilst awaiting the pig to cook. I do hope you play along with this challenge,...
