Hello stampers! Greetings from the warmth of northwest Florida where it looks like we may actually have to mow the lawn in February! This has never happened in the 13 years we have lived here. Usually it is late March before the lawn mower comes out. BUT,,,,I am not complaining!
Today I want to show you a “before and after”. I am in the middle of taking an online coloring class and decided to re-do an image. I had colored the Bird of Paradise stamp (from Local King Rubber Stamps) about 4 years ago and was mostly happy with it, with the exception of the leaves and the sponging. I decided to take some of what I learned in the classes and color it again. Here is the side by side comparison. The card on the left was done 4 years ago, the panel on the right was done today.
Now, I used slightly different markers. For the flower part I eliminated any Y copics and just used the same YR markers. I also switched out the B markers for BV ones. I think the BV markers are closer to nature. The leaves were colored with the same markers with the addition of one darker green to add more shading. I like the leaves better in the new version. The flower part I am on the fence about. I think the blue in the original version was too bright, but the BV is not bright enough. Perhaps when I put the new panel on a card it will look better.
For the background I was not happy with the sponging on the original, but am not sure where to go with the new panel. Perhaps some stippling with BV colors will look good.
So, don’t be afraid to re-do one of your cards from years ago, and don’t be afraid to take a class or two!
Thanks for stopping by. I’ll have another card on Wednesday so be sure to stop by then!
