Geometric Boxes

Hello September and hello crafters! So, it’s still in the 90’s here in Florida, but everyone seems to be ready for fall. I am not quite there yet, but I have started on my Christmas cards.

Today I am showing you some cute Geometric boxes that I made with scrapbook paper and my Scor-Pal. These are very easy to do. It just takes 3 pieces of square paper (I used 4″ square for the smaller one and 6″ square for the larger one in the photo above.

These lay flat on a desk and have a cool triangle opening.

I’ve created a PDF tutorial for you….

These are so easy to put together!

Mini Halloween Treat boxes with Scor-Pal

Hello friend and happy October!! We are starting off the big holiday season of the year – it begins with all things fall, going into Halloween, Thanksgiving and the big one…Christmas!

Here in Florida the weather is still warm, but I have my fall decor out already. Our neighborhood does Halloween big time. We get over 200 kids trick or treating. One house has a Bounce House in the front yard, one house has fresh chocolate dipped marshmallows, and one has jello shots for the parents!! Many of our neighbors go all out on the Halloween decorations as well. We’ve never had any problems over the years.

So, today I am sharing with you a couple of cute mini treat boxes made with my Scor-Pal and Score-Tape.

Start by taking a piece of patterned paper sized 8.5 x 5.5 and score on the long side at 2:, 4: 6″ and 8″.

On the short side, score at 2″ and 4″.

Fold and burnish the score lines and cut the tabs as shown in the photo below.

Using Scor-Tape, assemble the box.

To complete the little boxes I used some circle die cuts and old stamps from Power Poppy.

March Scor-Pal challenge

Hello crafters and welcome to another monthly challenge from the makers of Scor-Pal.

This month we want to see your “St. Patrick’s Day or Easter” creations.
We will have a theme that the Design Team will follow, and we would love you to follow too, but if you don’t want to you can do an “Anything Goes” creation as long as it follows the general rules
Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will.   Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

You can find the Scor-Pal here and Scor-tape here.

This month I decided to go with a pretty Easter Purse/Box that can hold some yummy Easter treats and decided to include some green patterned paper as a tip of the hat to St. Patrick’s Day.

I started by taking a piece of patterned paper sized 10 x 12 and scoring it on the short side at 2″ and 8″.  On the long side score at 5″ and 7″.

Fold and burnish on all the score lines.

In order to get the side panels, you will need to fold the sides in the center section on the diagonal – see the photos below.

Then place some Scor-tape on those folds to keep them in place.

Next is the topper.  I used a piece of coordinating paper sized 6 x 5.5 and scored it in half.  I used a scalloped/stitched edge die on one end.

I thought the topper looked a bit plain, so I added some patterned paper on the back and a paper bow on the front.

To attach the topper I used scor-tape on the back panel only.  For the front I used a velcro dot so that you can open and close the purse box.

The final embellishment is a little tag with a friendly sentiment.  The tag was made using a christmas ornament die and a circle die on top. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts/GIna K collaborative stamp set called Friendship Blooms.

I hope you will try out making this project and that you will check out all this months projects on the Scor-Pal blog here.

Matchbox Gift Card Holder with Scor-Pal

Happy December!!  Hello crafters  – I hope you are enjoying the holiday season.  In just a few more weeks Christmas will be upon us.  I know we are all busy with card making, gift making and buying and decorating the house.

Today is the start of a new monthly Scor-Pal challenge.  Each month Scor-Pal hosts a “more than one scor” challenge with a theme.  This months theme is any December holiday.  The challenge is to make a card or other item that includes more than one score, so a simple card will not due. You have a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the Scor-Pal store.  All the details can be found HERE.

For my project I made a pair of matchbox gift card holders.  Since I live far from my family members I buy a number of gift cards for the holidays and I am always looking for different ways to package them.

You’ll need your scor-pal, scor-tape, cardstock, patterned paper, scissors, and anything you want to embellish the front.  I used some die cuts and stamps.

The Scor-pal can be found HERE.  Scor-Tape can be found HERE.

To make the box portion, take a piece of cardstock measuring 6 x 5 and score at the 1 inch mark all the way around.

Cut the tabs as shown and fold on all the score lines.

Add scor-tape to the tabs and make the box.

For the cover, take a piece of patterned paper sized 8.5 x 4 1/8.  Depending upon the weight of your inside box, you may want to check the dimensions.  For boxes made with heavier weight cardstock you made need a piece a little longer than 8.5.

Then I just start wrapping the cover around the box and score where needed.

For the inside of the box, I made a little wrap for the gift card. I just took a piece of lightweight paper trimmed to size, punched the end with a scallop border punch and added a little embellishment to hold it together.  I die cut two circles in different colored cardstock and punched a snowflake on one and adhered it to the other.

The outside of the boxes were embellished with some die cut tags, ribbon, twine and stamped sentiments.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you will check out all the Design Team projects!

Scor-Pal October challenge – Halloween

Happy October crafters and welcome to the October Scor-pal challenge.  Each month Scor-Pal hosts a “more than one score” challenge with a theme.  This months theme is Harvest/Fall or Halloween.  So, you create something with more than one score in this them and post it on the Scor-Pal blog…details can be found here.

This month I created some cute Halloween treat boxes – these can be used for cookies or other treats.

Here is what you will need:

Cardstock measuring 6.5″ x 10.75″ for the base box

For the patterned pieces:  Use patterned or stamped cardstock in the following sizes:

3.75 x 3.25 for the top

3.75 x 1 for the front and back (make 2 pieces)

3.25 x 1 for the sides (make 2 pieces)

Scor-pal, Scor-tape and scissors.  You can find the Scor-pal here and Scor-tape here.

Scoring directions:

On the short side score at 1.25 and 5.25

On the long side score at 1.25, 4.75, 6.00 and 9.50

Make cuts on the long side for flaps.

Attach the decorative pieces prior to adding adhesive

Add scor-tape to the flaps and assemble the box

To decorate I pulled out some dies and stamps and made  some simple embellishments.

Scor-Pal Challenge – Stylish Storage

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome to a new month and a new Scor-Pal challenge. Each month Scor-Pal hosts a “more than one score” challenge with a theme.  The challenge is to make a project that has more than one score and this months theme is “stylish storage”.  There is a $20 gift card prize for the winner – see all the details on the Scor-Pal Blog HERE.

For my project I made a desktop storage to hold some of those little items that sometimes get lost on your desk.

It is a set of 2-4-6-8 boxes that are open at one end and are of  various heights.  These boxes are so quick and easy to do and you get to use some of that patterned paper that we all seem to  hoard!

I added a little bow on the front to dress it up a bit – made with a bow die.

For these types of projects using a strong adhesive is very important and scor-tape works perfectly.

You can find scor-tape HERE and the scor-pal HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by today – please check out all the design team projects on the scor-pal blog.

Scor-Pal Challenge – Patriotic!

Hello crafty friends!  I am back once again to kick off this months Scor-Pal challenge.  Each month Scor-Pal hosts a “more than one score” challenge with a theme.  This months theme is patriotic.  Just make a card or other item with more than one score with a patriotic flare.  You can find all the details on the scor-pal blog here.

For this challenge I made triangle treat boxes.

The box is easy to do and can be changed for any occasion just by switching out papers.  Here are the instructions:

You will need a scor-pal, scor-tape, paper, twine/ribbon, ruler and whatever embellishment works for your occasion.

You can get the Scor-Pal here and Scor-Tape here.

Paper size:  8.5 x 4

On the short side score at 1.5 and 3.5.  On the long side score at 2, 4, 6, and 8.

Next you will make two “short” scores.  On the long side score at 3 and 7, but only go down to the horizontal score.

Now you will make a few diagonal scores.  Take the cardstock out of the scor-pal and with a ruler line up the “short” scores with the corner – see photo.  These diagonal scores will allow you to make the triangular shape.

Fold and burnish on the score lines and cut as shown below.

Use scor-tape to put the box together.  Punch holes at the top and thread ribbon or twine.

The stars were made using a silhouette cut file and cardstock. I just cut a bunch of different sizes and attached them with foam tape.

A note about the patterned paper used for this project.  I did not have any patriotic paper and went looking on the internet for some.  I found these patterns as part of a FREE digital patriotic paper pack from The Cottage Market.  You can find this free paper pack here.

Textured Flip Top Box

Hello crafters!  I have some news to share with you. I am now part of the Scor-Pal design team!  I am so happy to be a part of this great team and company!

Each month the Scor-pal blog hosts a challenge.  It is called the “More Than One Score” challenge and each month has a different theme.  This month the theme is texture.  So the challenge is to make a card or project that has more than one score and includes texture somewhere on it.  Here is my project, which was inspired by those pretty Tiffany boxes.

Textured flip top box, tiffany inspired, with silver band and flower.

I have a video tutorial on how I made the box – I hope you will check it out.  For more inspiration on this challenge and on other Scor-pal projects, please visit the scor-pal blog here.

Valentine Candy Boxes

Hello friends!  Valentine’s Day is only a few weeks away and I want to share some candy/treat boxes I made.

They were made using the WRMK 123 Punch board.  WRMK sells a Candy Box Punch Board, but if you have the 123 or the Envelope Punch Board you can make these cute boxes.

They come together quickly, and I am so proud of myself in that all the paper I used here is stuff I have been hoarding – the papers are about 10 years old.  I’ve realized that since I purchased my punch boards I have been using a lot more of my scraps and old papers, which makes me happy!

The embellishments on the boxes were made with  dies I’ve had awhile.    The pink heart was embossed with a swiss dot embossing folder.

I have a video tutorial to show how to make these.  You’ll need the 123 or envelope punch board, a scoring tool, scissors and adhesive.

Holiday Gift Boxes

Hello crafters!  It’s December and the holiday spirit is in full swing!  I am happy to report that my shopping is done, my cards are finished and all that is left is to wrap things up and get them mailed out.  Yes, I am an early bird, simply because my family lives far from me and I have to get things mailed out in time, plus we will be out of town during part of the holiday and I needed to get everything finished before then.

Today I have a short video tutorial on how I made some holiday boxes for a few small gifts.  And I think I may have overcome my paper hoarding! Usually I hold on to any new papers I buy but this season I picked up about four 12 x 12 holiday paper packs from Michaels on sale and I put one of them to use in wrapping up a few gifts.  This particular paper pack was in shades of deep blue and blue green and had two pages of tag shapes that I put to work as well.

The Tutorial for the large square box on the end  was done previously, the that tutorial is here:

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your holiday season is going well!
