White on White

Hello March!! Is it spring yet? I am in the mood for something other than winter, and tried to make something spring like or wedding like. A very clean white on white look. Here is my card using Scor-Pal products.

I used my scor-pal to make diagonal lines on the card. Angle the card on the diagonal and score on each inch. Then rotate the panel and do the same.

Once that was done I embossed a smaller panel using an old cuttlebug embossing folder. I cut a slightly larger piece of the same paper and used a scallop punch on that piece.

The scor-pal can be found here.

The embossed piece was placed on top of the scalloped piece and then placed on the base card.

I used tiny adhesive pearls where the scored lines intersected to add a bit of elegance.

The sentiment, an old one from Papertrey, was stamped with a light purple ink.

Not a Valentine, but it could be!

Hello my crafty friends!  It looks like this weekend many of you in the USA will be seeing some bad weather.  Here in Florida it is warm for this time of year (70’s in northwest Florida) but we are expecting some severe thunderstorms and tomorrow is only expected to be in the 40’s during the day, and 30’s at night.  I hope you can get some crafting time in!

Todays card is not a valentine, and there is a reason for that!   My husband’s birthday is in February, just 9 days after Valentine’s Day, so I end up making two special cards for him.  I already had a Valentine’s Day card made so this one is for his birthday.

One of the best things about this card is that with the exception of the base card itself, everything else was made with scraps!  How often does that happen!

I started by cutting the heart die first on a piece of scrap  white cardstock, then with a piece of patterned paper.

When I removed the die with the patterned paper  from my machine I kept all the pieces in the die and then added foam tape to the back of each of the hearts.  Yes, those tiny hearts were a challenge.

Then I placed the die cut piece from the white cardstock on the front panel and used it as a guide to transfer the patterned paper hearts.  Repositionable tape helped keep it in place.

My original thought was once the patterned hearts were transferred over, I would remove the white heart outline die cut and just leave the floating hearts as the focal point.  But I liked how the white outline die looked so I left it in.

The base card was embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder called Cross My Heart.   The sentiment is from Papertrey.

Pinwheel card

Happy September stampers!  I hope your Labor Day holiday weekend was filled will lots of fun times.  September starts the official fall season around much of the USA, but here in northwest Florida it is still 90 degrees and represents the high point of the hurricane season.  So of course we are looking at Tropical Storm Gordon, which may become a hurricane as it gets closer.  We will probably get a bunch of rain, but the worst  of it will be west of us.  Hoping for the best for those of you in Mississippi and Louisiana.

Today I am showing a card made for a birthday group I am in.  We were to create a pinwheel card – I’ve never done one and found it very easy to do.  There are many you tube videos for the technique.

I started with some Basic Grey patterned paper and coordinating green cardstock for the small pinwheel squares.  The background was embossed with a cuttlebug folder that I just love.  It reminds me a cross stitch cloth.  The sentiment is from Papertrey and was small enough to fit on the banner dies.  A few pink pearls were added to finish it off.

Try out this technique – it is very easy.  I can see doing this is Christmas colors for a nice holiday card.

The Bells of Christmas

So, it’s almost mid November and the holiday season is in full swing.  Thanksgiving is just around the corner with Christmas soon behind.  I hope your days are filled with the goodness this time of year brings.  Here is another Christmas card for you.

The bells of christmas

The image – the Bells of Christmas – is from Justrite and was colored with copic markers.  Now to get the image framed with red and white here is what I did.  I stamped the image on paper, scanned it and brought it into my silhouette software.  Then I used the trace feature in silhouette for the frame.  The red portion used the trace and offset feature in silhouette to allow for a little space in between the image edges.  Then, I made a copy of that trace and did another offset to use on the white piece.  Once I cut the white cardstock I embossed it with an embossing folder.  The poinsettia  on the front is a silhouette file and the greenery is a Martha Stewart punch.

ski and hat

Although I live in Florida now I have many wonderful memories of skiing.  I grew up in New England and learned to ski in Vermont.   When I moved to California Orvil and I took many ski vacations where we saw some of the best and most scenic areas.  I think our favorites are Lake Tahoe, Jackson Hole and anywhere in Colorado!

So here is a Christmas card to celebrate those great times!

Ski and hat

The image was colored with copic markers and is from Flourishes (no longer available).  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the snowflake and cuttlebug embossing folder.

Christmas? Oh no….

Yes, a Christmas card!!  Don’t hate me!!  I know it is so very early to even be thinking about Christmas but this card was so quick and easy to do and I thought I would share it now.

The base card is Cranes Lettra letterpress paper – love this paper because of its wonderful feel and look when either letterpressed, or as shown here, embossed. I used my all time fav cuttlebug embossing folder.

The ornament was made using Spellbinders 2011 Ornament set.  I used the next to smallest die and cut 3 shapes from the Midnight Frost collection from Bo Bunny.  Note:  if the paper you are using is patterned only on one side you will need to cut 4 shapes and combine two to make the middle layer since the back of the paper shows.  The sentiment is from Papertrey.

Here are the three easy steps to make this:

Place the first layer down flat.

Take the second layer and fold it in half.   (Since the back side of the paper will show this is where you will have to combine two pieces if your paper has a pattern on one side only.)  Run a thin line of glue on the fold and attach it to the first layer.

Take the third layer, fold it in half and glue it together.  Run a thin line of glue on the fold and attach it to the second layer.

Then attach the entire piece to the front of your card.

For this card I wanted a little more “sparkle” so before I attached it to the card I lightly sprayed it with adhesive and sprinkled some glitter on the ornament.  Here is a closer look.

fly away

Hello friends!  I hope your week is starting off well. Summer is in full swing here..we have family coming in this weekend to spend a week with us and next week will be filled with lots of beach time.

This card was created for Impression Obsession’s Fly Away challenge – details shown HERE.

This clean and simple card uses three images from IO’s clear set #CL112 called Flowers.  It has several wonderful floral and leaf images.  I used one to make the butterfly!

First I stamped the two flower images on white cardstock and lightly colored with copic markers.  To make the butterfly, I stamped the image on a scrap piece of paper, colored it in and then cut it out.  By turning the image on its side I created a side view of the butterfly wings.   Here’s a look.

All I had to do was draw the body in with a black pen and I was good to go!  The sentiment was handwritten on a scrap of Basic Grey paper.  I think it’s nice to handwrite sometimes instead of using a stamped sentiment.

The base card was embossed with a cuttlebug embossing folder.

daffodil sneak peek

Here is a clean and simple card that offers a sneak peek of one of the sets to be released by Mark’s Finest Papers next week.  The set is called Daffodil Greetings and is perfect for spring.

I kept the card simple by stamping the main daffodil image in Memento London fog.  The butterfly was stamped in the same ink, colored with copics to match the cardstock then cut out and popped up on the main panel.

Spellbinders dies were used to cut the circles and a cuttlebug folder used for the embossing.  The sentiment is from an earlier MFP set.   The grey pearls in the corners were originally white but I used a copic marker in the “N” series to make it grey.

All the cardstock is from MFP.  Thanks for sto

pink and grey

This card is for todays color challenge at SCS which calls for a light and dark pink, along with grey.   I love grey with any color – it is a perfect neutral – softer than black.

I stamped the images, from Mark’s Finest Papers Relax A Bit set released this month, on MFP’s white linen cardstock using Memento Inks.   The teapot was stamped again on copic x-press it cardstock, colored then cut out and adhered on top of the linen base.  The ribbon is also from MFP – a pretty pink sheer!

Stampin Up’s blush and basic grey cardstock were used for the base, along with a cuttlebug embossing folder.

Thanks for stopping by today – and Happy Mardi Gras!!
