Holiday House with Poppy Stamp Dies

Hello crafters – today I am showing a Christmas card I made for some family members.

I used the die set from Poppy Stamps called Holiday House. It makes a great card – the details are very nice.

Since I had 3 family members moving into new houses this year, I decided to give each of them one of these cards. I hope they like them.

This die set can be a labor of love – lots of little dies to make those details. The windows and the snow on the windows are especially challenging. Because they are small it is hard to get adhesive on them. I’ve learned to use double stick adhesive sheets for these small dies and they work well.

I used the Sizzix brand double sided adhesive sheets. You remove the backing on one side and attach your cardstock. Then you place your die on the cardstock and run it through your machine. Once your die is cut, you can remove the backing from the die cut, revealing the adhesive and place the die cut on your project.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Christmas Scenic Ornament Card

Hello friends and here is another Christmas card for you today. Similar in look to the card I showed on Mondays post.

I started with the embossed background – it is from Spellbinders called Holiday Floral Swag and is gorgeous. Since it is a large embossing folder I was able to cut the embossed panel in half and get two cards out of it.

The die cut on the front is one I have had for years and I don’t remember where I got it. I looks like it be a memory box die, but I am not sure. I cut it out on white cardstock and placed it on a circle cut out of blue glittery paper. It looks a lot better irl – very shimmery and Christmassy . These types of cards are easy to make and you can put them together quickly.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you will stop by again on Friday for another card.

Embossed Ornament Card

Hello crafters! I hope your December is going well. This week I will show you 3 cards I made for Christmas.

This first card is so pretty irl – it is hard to get a good photo of it.

The embossed background is a gorgeous 3D embossing folder from Spellbinders called Holiday Floral Swag. It is a large folder – 8.5 x 5.5 – so it will cover a half sheet of cardstock. What I did was emboss the cardstock and cut it in two, so I was able to get two holiday cards from one folder.

The ornament is made using dies from Birch Press – this set of 3 coordinating dies is call Twinkle. I used a glittery blue cardstock along with gold and white to make the ornament and topped it off with silver cord bow. It is glittery and shiny and perfect for a holiday card!

Thanks for stopping by today. Check back on Wednesday for another card.

Clean and Simple Valentine

Here is another Valentine – one with a clean and simple look.

I used linen cardstock for the base and top layer. The leaf die cuts are from Sizzix and Alte New. The sentiment is an old PaperTrey sentiment.

I cut out a square in the center of the card and behind the opening I placed a piece of vellum that was embossed with a heart embossing folder. The frame was made by using two square dies, one smaller than the other and cutting them out together.

Holiday House Gift Box

Hello everyone and Happy December!! By now we are all in the thick of things for the holiday season. Is your house decorated? Have you started your holiday shopping?

Today marks the start of another monthly challenge with the Scor-Pal Design Team. This month we want to see your Winter Holiday creations.
You can follow the theme if you like, but if you don’t want to you can do an “Anything Goes” creation as long as it follows the general rules
Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will. Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

I have a wonderful gift box to share with you. This is an elegant way to box up a gift.

There is a link to a video on how I put it all together below. I used the Winter House Pop up die set from Poppy Stamps, a Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape and different types of card stock. You can find the scor-pal here.

The box measures 5.5″ tall, 4.25″ wide and 4.25″ deep. It take two sheets of cardstock measuring 10.5 x 9 to create it. The video shows how that was done.

The little wreath on the front was so simple. I used a punch from WRMK called hole reinforcer punch and added glitter glue to it.

Take a look at the video tutorial – thanks for watching!

Gift Card Envelope

Hello everyone and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My weekend was filled up with holiday shopping and decorating the house. I was also able to do some crafting and let me show you what I came up with.

Since all my family members live far away from me, I often send gift cards – they are always appreciated. And I try to dress up the envelope so that the recipient gets to open up something that resembles a package.

I made all these envelopes to fit a regular size Amazon gift card – which measures 3 5/8 x 5.

Then I pulled out my We R Memory Keepers 123 punch board and went to work.

I started with a patterned paper measuring 7 3/8″ square, placed it in the punch board and scored it at 4 1/8. Then just follow the standard directions for making an envelope.

I used a variety of dies on the front – just things I’ve had in my stash for years. I hope you like how these turned out and hope it provides some inspiration.

Thanks for stopping by!

Album with concertina fold

Hello crafters and welcome to May! Today marks the start of a new challenge on the Scor-Pal blog and I have something you can put together, perhaps for Mother’s Day, to help mark the occasion.

For this month we want to see your handbag or purse creations.
We are making some changes to the challenges this year, we will have a theme that the Design Team will follow, and we would love you to follow too, but if you don’t want to you can do an “Anything Goes” creation as long as it follows the general rules

You can find the Scor-Pal here.  Check out the detail of the challenge on the Scor-Pal blog here.

I decided to go with the “Anything Goes” category and created this mini album with a concertina fold.  It was the first time I had done this type of album and I really like how it turned out.  It’s perfect when you want to have something to remember a special day – small enough to not take up much room, but space for a number of photos.

The album folds in an accordian type folder but on the diagonal.

Here is how to make the album.  First – decide what sized paper you want to use.  You will need 3 sheets of paper, cut to squares.  In my case I used 3 sheets of double sided scrapbook paper cut to 8.5″ square.

For each piece you will do three scores.  At the center  – in my case the score would be at 4.25″, then turn once and do another score at the center.  So you have a vertical and horizontal score at the center.  The third score would be on the diagonal.  Do this for each of the three pieces.

Then fold and burnish on all the score lines.

Next you are going to put together the three pieces.  You will want to use good adhesive for this  and Scor-Tape is perfect.  You can find Scor-Tape here.

Place the paper as shown in the photo below.  On the diagonal the first and third sheets should have the diagonal fold be “mountain” folds with the center piece having the “valley” fold.  Also note the middle piece gets adhered on top of the first piece, and the third piece gets adhered to the second piece.  You only need to tape the triangle sections that overlap – nothing else.

Once the pieces are put together you can fold it as follows – start with each end first then work on the center – see photo below.

Burnish all the folds and then add photos and any other embellishments.  For this project I placed some pieces of white paper where I intend to add photos later.

To embellish the front I used an assortment of dies with paper from the same scrapbooking paper pad I used for the album itself.  I tied it up with some raffia – I attached the raffia only to the front to allow the album to be fully opened up.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you check out the Scor-pal blog and the projects that the design team has created.

Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge

Happy April!  It’s the start of a new Scor-Pal Challenge.

The Design Team at Scor-Pal love showing our projects to you and now it’s your chance to show your creations to us!
This month we want to see your “April Showers”  or “April Fool Us – using a hidden or surprise element” creations. Check out the detail on the Scor-Pal blog here.

You can find the Scor-Pal here and Scor-tape here.  I used both in my card.

Here is what the inside of the card looks like – the surprise is a little pop up cube complete with a flamingo!

Here are the components to make the card:

1 piece measuring 12″ x 5″ – score on the long side at 4″, 8″ and 10″.

1 piece measuring 2″ x 5″ – score on the long side at .5″, 2.5″ and 4.5″.

2 pieces measuring .5″ x 3″ – score on the long side at .5″ and 2.5:

Take patterned paper and cover the pieces as shown.  To measure the patterned paper I just cut each piece a quarter of an inch smaller than each section.  You don’t need to cover the 2 smallest  pieces as they will not be seen.

Don’t forget to cover the front of the card as well!

To make the cube – adhere the two small pieces to the inside of the 2 x 5 piece as shown below.

Attach it to the cube as shown below so that it folds flat when the card is closed.

When you add your elements to the inside of the cube test to make sure they close flat before you adhere anything.

I embellished the front of the card with some die cuts in coordinating paper.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Please go to the scor-pal blog and check out all the creations by the Design Team!

Open Hillside Christmas card

Hello stampers!  I have another Christmas card to share with you today.

This pretty aqua and white Christmas card uses a few dies and stamps to create a wintery scene.

I started by using two Poppy Stamps dies – Open Hillside and Sloping Hillside. I cut each die then layered them putting the Open Hillside die in front.  The trick to pair these two dies is to leave enough of a border around the die cut so you can line them up.

After gluing them together I added some glitter on the trees and snowbanks.

I then took a scrap of the aqua paper and stamped and embossed some snowflakes to create the background.  All the pieces were put together and added to the card front.

The poinsettia die is from Spellbinders and I added a small aqua pearl to the center of it.

While this has a clean and simple look, it was a bit more involved.  With the die cuts you can be efficient.  I have the regular sized Gemini die cut machine and can run both hillside dies and the poinsettia die in one pass instead of cranking three dies separately.

I hope your holiday season is going well.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Nordic Christmas card

Hello stampers – I hope you are getting ready for the holidays.  I am here today to show you a quick card I made with one of my newest stamps from Colorado Craft Company.

This is a LARGE stamp!   I die cut it down to fit on a standard card base.  I just stamped it in Memento Rhubarb Red ink – using a stamp tool I had to make several inkings to get full coverage.  I then used an ornament die to cut the shape.  The sentiment is also included with the stamp set.

The embossed card base uses an embossing folder I’ve had for over 10 years.  I ordered it from HSN and have never found it anywhere else after that year.

This was a fairly easy and simple card to put together – one that can be made quickly and in multiples.
