Thankful For You

Hello crafters – it’s November and the holiday season is in full swing. Halloween is done and we are now into the Thanksgiving and Christmas rush. Today I am showing you an envelope I made with the Scor-pal and the Scor-Envi tool. And inside the envelope is a gift card holder.

I started by using the Scor-Envi tool to determine the size of the paper I needed and where to make the score lines. For this 5 x 5 envelope I used an 8.75″ square piece of patterned paper and scored at the 3.25 and 8.75 lines, then turning the paper once I made the same scores.

Once the scoring was complete, you cut out the little triangles where the score lines meet and then you can make the envelope.

For the inside gift card holder, I used a piece of patterned paper measuring 4.25 x 3. On the long side I scored at .25 on each end and on the short side I scored at 1″.

Then I made cuts as shown below.

From here I used scor-tape to attach the bottom flap.

I added this to the inside envelope along with a piece of patterned paper in which you can write a note.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you will check out the Scor-Pal Blog and see what the other designers have made this month!

Gift Card Envelope

Happy June! I have little something to share with you today. I made a gift card envelope using the Scor-Pal envelope template – the Scor-envi.

Using my Scor-Pal and the Scor-Envi, I chose to make a square envelope for a 4 x 4 card. Using the instructions on the Scor-Envi I started with a piece of khaki cardstock measuring 6.75″ square. I placed the Scor-Envi in the upper right hand corner of the Scor-Pal and placed my cardstock to line up with it and scored at 3.25 and 8.25. I turned the paper once and made the same measurements.

Once the scores were made, I cut out the small triangle sections where the score lines intersect.

I placed some patterned paper in the inside center of the envelope.

To make the piece that holds the actual gift card, I just cut a piece of cardstock wide enough to fit the and punched a notch in the center.

I used score tape to attach this to the inside of the envelope.

The front of the envelope uses some patterned paper and several die cuts. A raffia ribbon holds everything together.

Gift Card Envelope

Hello everyone and I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My weekend was filled up with holiday shopping and decorating the house. I was also able to do some crafting and let me show you what I came up with.

Since all my family members live far away from me, I often send gift cards – they are always appreciated. And I try to dress up the envelope so that the recipient gets to open up something that resembles a package.

I made all these envelopes to fit a regular size Amazon gift card – which measures 3 5/8 x 5.

Then I pulled out my We R Memory Keepers 123 punch board and went to work.

I started with a patterned paper measuring 7 3/8″ square, placed it in the punch board and scored it at 4 1/8. Then just follow the standard directions for making an envelope.

I used a variety of dies on the front – just things I’ve had in my stash for years. I hope you like how these turned out and hope it provides some inspiration.

Scor-Pal More Than One Score Challenge – Masculine/Father’s Day

Hello crafters – happy June!!  I hope this summer is going well for all of you.  It certainly is  little different these days, but we are all hanging in there!

It’s the start of the month, which means a new Scor-Pal challenge with a Masculine/Father’s Day theme

Each month we will have a different theme and you will have a month to create and enter your projects. As well as the theme you will need to make “More Than One Score” and tell us where you used the Scor-Pal on your project. So a single fold card won’t count but an Easel, Gatefold, Stair Step, etc will 🙂 Also we love to see your “Anything But a Card” projects, just as long as you make “More Than One Score”
We have a ton of inspiration on our Projects on the Scor-Pal website and also on our Pinterest Board to get you eager to enter.

I created a Pop Up gift card holder with a masculine flair.   I used a Scor-Pal, Scor-Tape and some old stamps from Power Poppy. The image was colored with copics. The Scor-Pal can be found here and Scor-Tape can be found here.

Here is the inside of the card – when you open it up the gift card flips up.

I started with a piece of cardstock measuring 4.25 x 11 and scored it at  4.5, 5.5 and 6.5.

Then fold on the scor lines so you get a valley/mountain/valley fold.

Flip it over and place a narrow strip of scor-tape along the bottom.

Using the edge of a die cut, or a punch,  cut the flap for the gift card as shown.

Here is what it will look like once the cut is made – you can just slip the gift card in the slot.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope to see your entries on the Scor-Pal blog!!

gift card holder

Every year I look around for new ways to package gift cards for the holidays.  Gift cards are frequently used by me for my nieces and nephews and I like wrapping them in more than just a plain envelope.

When I saw the uber talented Becca Feeken’s gift card holder she did for Our Daily Bread Stamps I knew it would be my go to technique this year – and probably many more years!  The video of how she made this is HERE.

Here is my take…

The gift card holder is actually two pieces.  The pocket or “envelope” is one piece and the actual gift card holder is another.  This is the pocket with the gift card holder tucked inside.  I used paper from SEI Winter Song and edged the diagonal folds with thin satin ribbon.  The snowflake and red flower are both Martha Stewart punches.  You can’t tell from the photo but the snowflake is covered with pretty glitter.  The red brad is from My Minds Eye.   I wrapped some diy bakers twine around just for looks.

Here is the piece that contains the actual gift card.

The image is from Papertrey and was stamped on Cranes Lettra Paper in Memento Rhubarb Stalk ink and cut using a nestabilites die. The ribbon is seam binding (love this stuff!!)  I edged the label with memento blue ink.

punches and dies and stamps, oh my!

A little bit of everything went in to the making of this card and/or gift card holder.  One Sizzix die cut and one embossing folder, one spellbinders label die, two martha stewart punches, stamps,  digital paper, ribbon and pearls!  And I still consider this clean and simple – go figure!

The base is a tri-fold card using the Sizzix “Ornate Tri Fold Card” die.  This die is so versatile because it can be used as a card, a gift card holder, or for an invitation.  It was cut using DCWV green textured paper of which the top “ornate” piece was embossed with a Sizzix embossing folder.  I took a piece of blue cardstock and used the same die cut – but just the top portion – to have a mat – here is a close up of the embossed section and blue mat.

The patterned paper is a digital freebie I received from Design House digital.  I  usually have bad luck with digital papers because the colors never look right, but this one printed out perfect!  The snowflakes are Martha Stewart punches – embellished with a pearl.  The turquoise grosgrain ribbon is SU and the ribbon just slides off to open the card.

The sentiment is from Flourishes, stamped in Memento Bahama Blue and cut using a Spellbinders label die.

Here is a look at how the card opens up.  See that extra blue piece at the end of the patterned paper?  That was a leftover piece from when I cut out the blue mat and decided to use it to finish off this section.

gift card holder

I am finally getting around to using my Big Shot and some of the dies!  I created this pretty gift card holder with three different dies:

I started with heavy cardstock and printed vellum.  I’ve had this vellum for many years and came across it while working on my last project  I love the delicate pattern and the colors work well with the lavender paper.  I cut both sheets down to 5.5 inches wide and ran the cardstock through my xyron to get a full coverage of adhesive.  The vellum sheet was overlaid on top of the cardstock.

I ran this piece through my bigshot using the “Box with Scallop Flap and Flowers” die, which is a scoreboards die.  This means not only can it cut through very heavy weight things (like matboard), but it also scores the material as well.  From here it is easy to put  the box together – just some redline tape along the sides.  I did not use the small flowers shown here, they will be saved for a future project.

To make the decorative top, I used the Tattered Flowers die with the same lavender and vellum paper, along with a branch with leaves die with green cardstock.  The cut pieces were sponged with Memento Grape Jelly for the flowers and Cottage Ivy for the leaves.  Both dies are from Sizzix.

Once the flowers were assembled they were attached with a brad.  The piece of lace ribbon started out white (which was too bright) so I airbrushed some copics in the E series (for a tea dyed look) then with a V series copic, to match the overall color scheme.   The final touch was a few small prima pearls that were also colored with a V series copic.

The box stays closed with a velcro dot.
