Figuring Out What's Next...

Good morning, friends!
Just a short catch-up on projects.  Not much going on lately.  Trying to find a block pattern that I want to create for my pink fabrics.  There are so many to choose from!!
I might get my Featherweight machine out to do some sewing.  It still needs some tweaking.

This book are letters from farmer's wives and the 111 blocks they inspired.  Wonderful book.  The patterns are also included of each block.

IF you purchase this book, you'll need to go to:
  You Tube...
Click on: Stitch with Rachel
look in the description for the MORE button...
Click on it and find the Download the Amendments link...
then "buy" the amendment...it cost $00... nothing.  then just follow the links to print it out.
Keep with your book...you'll need it!
If you work on each page...you'll create 100 blocks for a Sampler quilt of your own!

It's a gorgeous quilt just waiting for your own unique interpretation of the colors!  I'm going to try it for myself.  It'll take me a while, but I'd love to master these blocks.

And last but not least, Christmas is 284 days away.  Maybe I can get a Christmas quilt finished?
Anyway...That's about it for me.  Larry has bloodwork this morning for his thyroid, at the VA.  I'll have breakfast ready when he walks back in...
Have a beautiful and sewful day!

Quilt Top Done...A Tip and My Turn.

Good morning, Friends!
It's been a busy week...doctor appointments...finishing up the quilt top for a friend...and I'm so happy it is done!!  It was just the top piece...I told her that was all I would do.  Her SIL used to work in a quilt shop and knows people, if not herself, that will finish it.  Two and a half months...and one of those months, Larry and I both, had the flu.  Not fun!  I finished it yesterday and she's picking it up today.

The fabrics...she bought.  It was hard piecing this thing together because I simply didn't like the colors!  Anyway...

Here's a sewing tip that I found on the internet!  What a timesaver for us whose eyesight isn't what it used to be!

Absolutely love my new iron!  I no longer have to keep lifting it off the fabric!  It does it all by itself...
No more "sore shoulder from the constant lifting.

These are my next fabrics for a quilt...This one is for me!
Now I only have to decide on a pattern.

Well, I suppose that's all the news at this time...
Hope you are happy and well wherever you are.
So, until next time...may your bobbin be full and your tension just right!

Happily finished...Until...I'm Not

Good morning, friends...
I'm sorry but... there's a reason for my glee...lolol
I finally finish the blanket for granddaughter's, friend's, shower!   Yes mam.
It was a project that was really out of my comfort zone.  I made it exactly as my granddaughter wanted.  I have never done ruffles...anything...nor, will I EVER again...Lolol
I just want to make quilts...blocks...binding...you know?  This wasn't a quilt...it was more of a blanket.
It was a learning experience...but now it's over.  The friend loved it...Granddaughter loved it...and that makes me happy.

This is the next project.  A queen quilt top for my sister's ex-husbands, wife, Laura.
The back story to this is:
My sister and Laura showed up at my home for a visit.  Laura was carrying a bag with material she had just bought (above).  They both were talking about how Laura couldn't find anyone to make her a quilt.  hint... hint...hint
All eyes are on me...eyebrows raised...big eyes...as in, "I did help you with Ruth Ann's cancer"... So, what could I do but say, " alright...I'll make it".  (Sidenote...I had already given her an expensive bottle of her favorite perfume, $85.  It was a birthday/thank you gift.  Am I expected to do more?  Seriously...Am I ?  You help people because it's supposed to be the right thing to do...right?  She had made up a Will for Ruth to sign "incase" she died from the cancer......leaving all of Ruth's worldly assets to her...They would "keep" Bryan, Ruths cerbral palsey 43 yr old son...of which I doubt but, okay.  Ruth Ann has never signed it, by the way.  She and her hubby are both so messed up...He's 83 and she's 53...yeah.
Anyway, a gleeful scream from her and the deal was done.  I then told her that the quilt-top was all I was going to make.  No batting, backing or binding...period.  A longarmer could do all of that but...for a price.  Funny looks at that statement but then she says that would work. A quilt-top in this case is enough.  I appreciated her helping me with Ruth but...I won't be emotionally blackmailed forever more.  I also know she thought I'd make it all...for free.  Well, knowing her as I do, that's not going to happen.  Oh, the quilt-top will be for free unless I need more fabric...but I am Done!!  No more vistas on the horizon, of free anything.

I'm still playing with different ways to lay the blocks...(9 Patch).  Whatever gets it done the fastest!  And another job I'm not looking forward to...I am my own worst enemy!

So...That's about it for me, once again.  I'll let you know how things are progressing!
So... until next time...

I'm Done! Thank you, Jesus,...

Good morning friend!
Glad you stopped by...Here's how I spent my time since last seeing you...

I finally did it...done...kaput...over, Je suis fini!
When I want to do a project...I want to enjoy the "doing" of it.  This project gave me less than that...inadequate is the word.  I may be 74 but that doesn't mean I know how to quilt.  My granddaughter thinks I can...(a few baby quilts makes Not, a seasoned quilter).  But...I didn't want to disappoint her, so I said yes.  I am my own worst enemy! lol
So, the struggle began.  It took me about a month to finally finish it but with no one to help me but YouTube...I had to force myself to get it done...but I did it...finished.  Sam picked it up and said "Thank you Gamma!  I love it!"...that my friends, is why I did it...those words will make you walk over a pit of lit coals just to see them smile.

Now how did that candy get into my pin box?  Do tell!

A million pins!  I feel like a pincushion! lolol

I didn't flip any tables but...at times, I probably could have! Lolol

I needed to keep the girls yesterday...Sam's daycare texted on the morning of...that they would be closed...that very day...I guess no notice, is a thing nowadays...$632 a WEEK ...with no retro reimbursement. I wouldn't pay that but, it's a "specialized" academy (whatever that is). But, I digress...Lottie watched my YouTube video about a woman's stash.  She watched for a solid 6 1/2 minutes!  Impressive!  Another seamstress perhaps?  I really hope so...It was a dying art until lately.  Seems more of the young are taking it up again!  Good for them...

I like to "watch" movies...series, etc., when at the sewing machine.  This popped up in my YT feed!  Haven't seen it in years!  I loved Debbie Reynolds...wonderful movie!

This is the next project.  It's for Laura (my sister's Ex-husbands, now wife).  They've been married for about 25, 26 years?  Don't know.  The only reason why I consented to making it was that she helped out when my sister was going through her cancer treatments a few years ago.  She says one thing and does another...never returns phone calls or text.  I don't know how to deal with un-reliable people.  You have someone like this in your family?

Anyway, these are the colors I need to work with.  It'll be a Disappearing 9 Patch.  Should be easy enough...

Well, I suppose I need to get busy...Hope you all are well and safe from the snowstorms!  Our 2 inches turned into ice...we just stayed home.
Until next time...

A quilt for a Baby...

Good morning friend!
Hope all is well with you.  Had my yearly physical this morning and Doc thinks I'm good for another year.
I'm making a baby quilt for my granddaughter, Samantha.  She needed a gift for her best friend's baby shower so she asked if I'd make her one.  Sam picked out the material...and I'm doing my best to comply with what she wants the quilt to look like...lol...I'm trying!  I've never done a ruffle before...but thank God and YouTube!  I've gotten to the pinning on, of said ruffle.  Will start adding the binding, as well.

Lots of pins!

Not my quilt...but I'll be making a friends quilt with this pattern.  Not really my taste but it's what she wants so...

Well, that's about it as far as quilting goes.  It's "stories to be continued".
So... be safe and I'll see you next time!

Here Comes New Years...

 Good morning fellow seamstresses! lol
Hey, I'm not good enough yet to take on that handle so I guess we just need to get on with it...
Our grandson and his girlfriend came by for a visit!  We were thrilled to see them.  He's stationed in Arkansas in the Air Force.  We get to see him once or maybe twice a year, at most.

I had asked him, and Cailin, which colors and patterns they would like Gamma to make them each a quilt...Will picked the black and gray and Cailin picked the brown.

It'll be a while before I can begin but at least I have an idea as to what they want.

This baby quilt needs to be done by the end of January for a baby shower.  My Granddaughter Samantha asked if I'd make her one, for her friend.
I still need to do the ruffle and binding.

Well, I suppose that's about it.  I haven't been doing any sewing for the past two weeks.  Getting ready for Christmas.  Hopefully, I can start on that ruffle today.
Until next time, hope you all had a sweet Christmas and will take care for the New Year's drunks...uhhh...imbibers...on the highways.
Just be safe out there!
